Sensitivity Analysis on the Performance of Multimedia Stream Server using Simulation

본 논문은 인터넷을 통해 제공되는 VoD나 MoD 등의 멀티미디어 스트림 서비스를 위한 인터넷 스트림 서버의 사용자 요구사항을 성능 측면에서 만족시키는 방안에 대해 연구한 것이다. 본 연구의 대상인 인터넷 멀티미디어 스트림 서버는 동시에 50명의 사용자에게 화면이 끊어지지 않고 연속적으로 서비스를 제공하는 것이 목표이다. 본 논문은 이러한 요구 사항을 만족시키기 위한 설계 개념 및 동작 방식에 대해 소개하고, 설계된 멀티미디어 스트림 서버를 대상으로 성능을 시뮬레이션을 통하여 분석하며 시스템 요소 변화에 따른 성능 민감도를 분석하였다. 이는 멀티미디어 스트림 서버를 개발 하는 과정에서 시스템 성능에 큰 영향을 미치는 시스템 구성 요소를 분석하여 사용자 요구사항을 만족시키는 최적의 시스템을 설계 개발하기 위해 필요한 작업이다. 그리고, 성능 민감도 분석을 통해 사용자의 서비스 요구 패턴 변화에 대해 멀티미디어 스트림 서버가 보여주는 서비스 지연 확률을 분석하였고, PCI bus와 같은 중요 시스템 요소의 사용률도 분석하였으며, 시스템 자원을 추가로 투입할 때 나타나는 시스템 성능 변화도 분석하였다. This paper studies the Internet stream server which serves multimedia stream services such as VoD and MoD. The Internet multimedia stream server is developed to provide 50 users with continuous multimedia stream contents simultaneously. This paper focuses on introducing design concepts, operation details and on evaluating system performance and doing sensitivity analysis with respect to the change of the system components. The performance evaluation is performed using simulation in order to identify the system component that mostly affects the system performance. The sensitivity analysis shows the service delay rates of the multimedia stream server depending on the user's service request pattern. Also, the analysis is made on the utilization rates of the core system components such as the PCI bus and the Ethernet card, and on the system performance change by adding more system components.

We studied electrostatic properties of the MUA-coated-gold surface and the TiO2 surface for design of gold–TiO2 distribution, which may be controlled with electrostatic interactions. The forces between the surfaces were measured as a function of the salt concentration and pH value using the AFM. By applying the DLVO theory to the forces, the potential and charge density of the surfaces were quantitatively acquired for each salt concentration and each pH value. The potential and charge density dependences on the salt concentrations and the pH values were explained with the law of mass action and the ionizable groups on the surface.
Effect of cysteamine layer formed on gold surfaces interacting with TiO_2 surfaces

It is investigated that the formation of cysteamine layer on gold surfaces may make an effect on the distribution of either gold particle adsorbed to the TiO_2 surface or vice versa with the adjustment of the electrostatic interactions. The atomic force microscope (AFM) was used to measure the surface forces between the surfaces as a function of the salt concentration and pH value. With the Derjaguin-Landau-Verwey-Overbeek (DLVO) theory, the forces were quantitatively analyzed to acquire the surface potential and charge density of the surfaces for each salt concentration and each pH value. The surface potential and charge density dependence on the salt concentration was described with the law of mass action, and the pH dependence was explained with the ionizable groups on the surface.
Low-temperature Photoluminescence for Polycrystalline SrZrO<SUB>3</SUB> and SrHfO<SUB>3</SUB>

We measured the temperature-dependent photoluminescence (PL) spectra of polycrystalline 4d SrZrO_3 and 5d SrHfO_3 synthesized by using the solid state reaction method. While the bandgap energies of both materials are higher than the light excitation energy (325 nm) we observed distinct PL signals near 1.75 eV and 2.5 eV at the lowest temperatures, which should be associated with localized states in the fairly wide bandgap. According to the literature, these peaks could be related to defect states originating from structural disorder or oxygen vacancies. The blue emission near 2.5 eV for our samples is quite similar to that observed in various 3d oxides such as SrTiO_3. Interestingly, the blue emission of SrHfO_3 is stronger than that of SrZrO_3, which suggests that SrHfO_3 could be a new optoelectronic material.

Game industry demands for talented workers from game scenario writing, graphic design and computer game programming areas,which are the three heterogeneous parts of computer game making. This paper deals with the analysis on the college convergenceeducation, surveying the curriculums of game departments in Korean universities and with how to proceed for game programmersto the direction of convergence education for computer game making. Most of the game departments are focusing on gameprogramming area, whereas only 2 departments among 14 surveyed are teaching the game graphic design topics. Observing thecurriculum changes for sampled game departments reveals that around 30% of the majoring classes are directly game related. Gameprogrammers are to be advised to fulfill their programming skill first and later expand their ability to game graphic design skill.
