It has been shown that the appearance of the pulmonary vesseles is a reflection of pulmonary hemodynamics and the dilatation of the right descending pulmonary artery is a reliable roentgenographic sign of pulmonary hypertension. The present study was undertaken to investigate the changes of the right descending pulmonary artery on routine chest roentgenogram in cases of heart diseases associated with a disturbance of pulmonary circulation, including 23 cases of mitral stenosis, 7 cases of atrial septal defect, 6 cases of ventricular septal defect, 4 cases of patent ductus arteriosus, 1 case of cor pulmonale and 1 case of rupture of sinus valsalva. The changes of the right descending pulmonary artery were also studied in 15cases before and after the treatment. The right descending pulmonary arteries were markedly dilated in 20 of 23 cases of mitral stenosis by 0.7- 11.3mm, in all 7 cases of atrial septa1 defect by 0.7-10.7mm, in 5 of 6 cases of ventricular septa1 defect by 1.3-3.7mm, in 2 of 4 cases of patent ductus arteriosus by 2.7-6.0mm and one case of cor pulmonale nd rupoure of sinas valsalva respectively. In 15 cases of heart diseases with pulmonary hypertension or pulmonary congestion the dilated right descending pulmonary arteries were considerably diminished in the width by average 4.7mm ranging 1.0 to 9,0mm after the treatments. In two cases of mitral stenosis, the dilated right descending pulmonary arteries were markedly diminished after commissurotomy. These observations showed that the dilatation of pulmonary artery occurred in pulmonary congestion, pulmonary hypertension or increased pulmonary blood flow. However in few cases the right descending pulmonary arteries were normal and which showed that the dilatation of pulmonary artery was not always evident in mild cases of disturbance of pulmonary circulation.
으름덩굴(Akebia quinata)추출물의 Capnocytophaga 속 균주에 대한 항세균효과

In this study, we examined the effect of Akebia quinata extract on the growth ability of Capnocytophaga species in vitro. The obtained results were as follows. 1. Akebia quinata extract had minimal inhibitory concentrations of 50-200㎍/㎖ against C. ochracea ATCC 27872, C. sputigena ATCC 33612, C. gingivalis ATCC and C. granulosa ATCC 51502 strains. But 6.25㎍/㎖ of Akebia quinata extract required to C. haemolytica ATCC 51501 strain. 2. The growth of C. ochracea ATCC 27872, C. gingivalis ATCC 33624 and C. granulos a ATCC 51502 strains were inhibited with dosage-dependent patterns. In C. sputigena ATCC 33612 strain, there are no detectable growth inhibition. But, C. haemolytica ATCC 51501 strain was inhibited 41% with l0㎍/㎖ of Akebia quinata extract concentration and 82% with 50㎍/㎖ respectively. And it was completely inhibited with 100㎍/㎖ of Akebia quinata extract concentration.
