Radiologic screening of maternal periodontitis predicts adverse pregnancy and neonatal outcomes

Objective: Dental screening is essential for the women who decide to conceive a baby or who get pregnancy. However, clinical screening such as periodontal probing could be quite time-consuming, highly discomforting, and inaccurate method. The aim of this study was to assess whether the severity of periodontitis classified by radiologic screening in accordance with the 2017 consensus classification was related to the adverse pregnancy and neonatal outcomes. Methods: One-hundred sixty-five mothers who underwent panorama x-rays within five years before and after the time of delivery, and their singleton neonates were included in this study. Their medical records were retrospectively reviewed. Results: Twenty-two mothers (13.3%) had severe periodontitis (SP), and 143 mothers (86.7%) had mild/moderate periodontitis (MP). Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that maternal SP was independently associated with uterine leiomyoma (OR: 5.555, 95% CI: 1.371-22.503, P = 0.016) and small for gestational age (OR: 4.488, 95% CI: 1.116-18.058, P = 0.035). Among the preterm infants, infants in the SP group had not only lower birth weight, but also lower z-score of birth weight. Incidences of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and treated patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) were significantly higher in the SP group than in the MP group (ROP: 50% vs 0%, P = 0.008, PDA: 33.3% vs 0%, P = 0.046). Conclusion: Radiologic screening of maternal periodontitis can predict adverse pregnancy and neonatal outcomes. It could be a useful screening method for predicting adverse outcomes as well as diagnosing SP in pregnant women.

Objective: The association between polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) is still uncertain in East Asia where a lean PCOS is relatively common compared to western countries. This study is purposed to determine the risk of DM for Korean women diagnosed with PCOS at their reproductive age. Methods: We conducted a prospective matched case-control study using National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) sample cohort dataset that included approximately 1 million individuals from Korea. We selected women aged 15-44 years old who were diagnosed with PCOS during the years 2003~2012. The controls were randomly matched to them at a ratio of 2:1 by age, region, and socioeconomic status. The incidence of primary diagnosis of DM during the follow up time was compared between the two groups. Results: In total, 1,332 PCOS cases and 2,590 controls were enrolled from the NHIS cohort database. A mean body mass index (BMI) was 22.02 ± 3.89 in the PCOS group and 21.17 ± 3.07 in the control group. The annual incidence rate of DM among the PCOS women was 1.68 per 100 person-year, whereas that among the control women was 0.69: an attributable risk of DM associated with PCOS was 1.00 per 100 person-year among the PCOS women. And 59% of primary diagnosis of DM among the PCOS women seem to be related to PCOS. After adjusted for BMI, hazard ratio for DM was 2.19 among the PCOS women compared to the controls (P < 0.0001). Conclusion: PCOS is an independent risk factor of DM among the Korean women with reproductive age. Screening for DM might have benefits for the women diagnosed with PCOS.

<P>Relaxivity tuning of nanomaterials with the intrinsic <I>T</I><SUB>1</SUB>-<I>T</I><SUB>2</SUB> dual-contrast ability has great potential for MRI applications. Until now, the relaxivity tuning of T<SUB>1</SUB> and T<SUB>2</SUB> dual-modal MRI nanoprobes has been accomplished through the dopant, size, and morphology of the nanoprobes, leaving room for bioapplications. However, a surface engineering method for the relaxivity tuning was seldom reported. Here, we report the novel relaxivity tuning method based on the surface engineering of dual-mode <I>T</I><SUB>1</SUB>-<I>T</I><SUB>2</SUB> MRI nanoprobes (DMNPs), along with protein interaction monitoring with the DMNPs as a potential biosensor application. Core nanoparticles (NPs) of europium-doped iron oxide (EuIO) are prepared by a thermal decomposition method. As surface materials, citrate (Cit), alendronate (Ale), and poly(maleic anhydride-<I>alt</I>-1-octadecene)/poly(ethylene glycol) (PP) are employed for the relaxivity tuning of the NPs based on surface engineering, resulting in EuIO-Cit, EuIO-Ale, and EuIO-PP, respectively. The key achievement of the current study is that the surface materials of the DMNP have significant impacts on the <I>r</I><SUB>1</SUB> and <I>r</I><SUB>2</SUB> relaxivities. The correlation between the hydrophobicity of the surface material and longitudinal relaxivity (<I>r</I><SUB>1</SUB>) of EuIO NPs presents an exponential decay feature. The <I>r</I><SUB>1</SUB> relaxivity of EuIO-Cit is 13.2-fold higher than that of EuIO-PP. EuIO can act as <I>T</I><SUB>1</SUB>-<I>T</I><SUB>2</SUB> dual-modal (EuIO-Cit) or <I>T</I><SUB>2</SUB>-dominated MRI contrast agents (EuIO-PP) depending on the surface engineering. The feasibility of using the resulting nanosystem as a sensor for environmental changes, such as albumin interaction, was also explored. The albumin interaction on the DMNP shows both <I>T</I><SUB>1</SUB> and <I>T</I><SUB>2</SUB> relaxation time changes as mutually confirmative information. The relaxivity tuning approach based on the surface engineering may provide an insightful strategy for bioapplications of DMNPs and give a fresh impetus for the development of novel stimuli-responsive MRI nanoplatforms with <I>T</I><SUB>1</SUB> and <I>T</I><SUB>2</SUB> dual-modality for various biomedical applications.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

이 연구는 순조 즉위년 관학유생의 각종 과시 우등 이력과 과거 합격 이력을 조사하여 과거 진출 추이를 분석하는 것에 목적이 있다. 분석을 위해 순조 즉위년 세 번의 상소문에 수록된 명단을 바탕으로 관학유생 1,427명을 확정한 후, 사학 과시 우등, 소과 입격률 및 입격 경향, 성균관 과시 우등, 문과 급제율 및 급제 경향을 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 아래와 같다. 첫째 유학 중 17.9%는 사학 과시 우등을 경험하였다. 사학 과시 우등자 가운데 52.4%는 중복 우등 이력이 있고, 이들의 대부분은 승보·합제를 구분하지 않고 응시하였다. 이런 양상은 순조 대 사학 과시 우등자의 전반적인 우등경향과도 비슷한 모습을 보인다. 둘째 유학 중 20.9%는 소과에 입격하였다. 이들은 주로 진사시로 진출하는 양상을 보인다. 소과 입격자 중 사학 과시 우등자의 입격률은 미우등자의 입격률과 비교했을 때 약 3배 정도 높았다. 이러한 수치는 사학 과시 우등자 집단이 미우등자 집단에 비해 상대적으로 실력이 뛰어났음을 보여준다. 셋째 관학유생 중 30.6%는 성균관 과시 우등을 경험하였다. 생원·진사의 우등비율이 유학에 비해 약 3배 높았다. 성균관 과시 우등자는 생원·진사, 유학을 막론하고 주로 제술에서 우등하는 경향을 보였다. 넷째 관학유생 중 8.1%가 문과에 급제하였다. 생원·진사의 급제율이 유학에 비해 약 2배 더 높았다. 문과 급제 비중은 주로 직부전시와 경과가 대부분을 차지하였고, 식년시의 비중은 매우 낮았다. The purpose of this study is to analyze the past advancement trends by investigating Four National Affiliated Schools examination and Civil Service Examination in the year of King Soonjo's enthronement. For analysis, 1,427 Gwan-hak student were confirmed based on the list included in three appeals in the year of King Soonjo's enthronement, and then Four National Affiliated Schools examination, the Bacclaureat(So-gwa, 小科), Sungkyunkwan examination(成均館課試), and Civil Service Examination(Dae-gwa, 大科) were analyzed. The results of the study are as follows. First, 17.9% of of Yu-hak(儒學) became honor students of Four National Affiliated Schools examination(四學課試). Second, 20.9% of Yu-hak became successful in Bacclaureat. Third, 30.6% of Gwan-hak student became honor students of Sungkyunkwan examination. Fourth, 8.1% of Gwan-hak student became successful in Civil Service Examination.
안전-필수 소프트웨어를 위한 신뢰도(Dependability) 프로세스에 관한 연구

최근 디지털 컴퓨터와 정보처리기술의 발전과 더불어 원자력 발전소의 계측제어시스템과 같은 안전-필수 시스템에서도 디지털 기술을 채택하기 시작했다. 안전-필수 시스템에 사용되는 소프트웨어는 높은 신뢰도(dependability)가 요구된다. 소프트웨어의 신뢰도는 신뢰성(reliability), 안전성, 보안 등 다양한 속성들로 설명될 수 있다. 소프트웨어의 신뢰도 향상을 위한 프로세스는 결함예방프로세스, 결함허용프로세스, 결함제거프로세스 그리고 결함예측프로세스가 있으며 이들 프로세스는 소프트웨어 수명주기 초반부터 수행되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 소프트웨어 신뢰도향상을 위한 신뢰도 프로세스 모델과 개발 단계별로 수행되어야 할 신뢰도 태스크를 제시한다.

대형 조선소에 비해 정보화 및 PLM 분야에 가용한 자원이 부족한 중소형조선소에서 필요한 생산계획 시스템 중에서 전산 시스템으로 관리하는 최종 단계를 중일정으로 볼 수 있다. 중일정을 효과적으로 전산 시스템으로 관리하기 위해 필요한 소프트웨어 모듈과 연관 관계를 분석해야 중소형조선소의 중일정에 대한 생산계획 시스템 현황을 분석할 수 있는데, 본 연구는 이상적인 수준의 중소형조선소 중일정 생산계획 시스템의 구조를 연구하고 각 조선소별 평가를 위해 기초를 마련하는데 주목하였다.
