ZnSe 단결정에 대한 열자극 발광과 열자극 전류의 동시측정

두 종류의 ZnSe 분말을 사용하여 sublimation 방법으로 성장한 ZnSe 단결정(as grown)에 대하여 TSC와 TSL을 동시 측정하였으며, PL과 DLTS를 측정하였다. PL 측정으로 I_1, I_2와 DAP 발광을 관측하였으며 DLTS에 의한 깊은준위를 관측하였다. TSL과 TSC의 동시 측정으로부터 얻은 그로우 곡선을 점근 해법으로 분해하여 세개의 준위를 얻었으며 그들의 활성화에너지값은 0.22 eV, 0.30 eV, 0.39 eV이었다. PL spectrum과 열자극 완화과정의 동시 측정 결과로부터 0.22 eV 근방에 impurity에 의한 주게준위와 native defect에 의한 받게준위가 각각 전도대의 아래와 가전자대의 위에 존재하는 것으로 판명되었다. DLTS 측정과 동시측정 결과로부터 0.30 eV와 0.39 eV의 준위는 V_se vacancy와 관련되는 주게 준위임을 알았다. Simultaneous measurements of TSL were carried out on ZnSe single crystals grown by high pressure Bridgman technique and the PL and DLTS signals were observed. Photoluminescence spectrum at 10 K on the ZnSe crystal reveals I_1 and I_2 lines, as well as DAP emission line. DLTS spectrum on the ZnSe crystal show electron trap at 0.33 eV. Two TSC and TSL peaks were observed near 215 K and 230 K, which are identified as having originated from two donor trap levels at 0.30 eV and 0.39 eV, respectively, below the bottom of the conduction band. We also observed single TSL and TSC peaks at 150 K which were identified as having originated from a donor and acceptor trap levels at about 0.22 eV below the conduction band and over the top of the valence band, respectively.
Inhibition of Invasion and Capillary-like Tube Formation by Retrohydroxamate-based MMP Inhibitors

Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), a family of zinc-containing endopeptidases, participate in many normal processes such as embryonic development and wound repair, and in many pathological situations such as cancer, atherosclerosis, and arthritis. Peptidomimetic MMP inhibitors were designed and synthesized with N-formylhydroxylamine (retrohydroxamate) as a zinc-binding group and various side chains on the ${\alpha}$, P1', and P2' positions. Using in vitro MMP assays with purified MMPs (MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-9, and MMP-14) and fluorogenic peptide substrates, it was found that compounds 2d and 2g selectively inhibit gelatinases (MMP-2 and MMP-9) and interstitial collagenase (MMP-1). They also inhibited the chemo-invasion of fibrosarcoma HT-1080 cells and tube formation of human umbilical vascular endothelial cells in a dose-dependent manner. Our results suggest that retrohydroxamate-based MMP inhibitors, especially compounds 2d and 2g, have the potential to be used as therapeutic drugs for cancer and other MMP-related diseases.

Swyer syndrome is characterized by a female phenotype, normal to tall stature, sexual infantilism with primary amenorrhea and 46,XY karyotype. The internal genitalia are female with uterus and full vagina, but have no ovaries or testis. Swyer syndrome is often diagnosed when young adults are evaluated for delayed puberty, as menstruation dose not occur naturally. We experienced a case of Swyer syndrome diagnosed incidentally in course of evaluating intrauterine growth retardation and delayed growth in infant. So, we report a case of Swyer syndrome with a brief review of literatures.
Gitelman`s Syndrome Associated with Chondrocalcinosis

Gitelman’s syndrome (GS), a hereditary disease characterized by hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia, and hypocalciuria, is a salt-losing renal tubulopathy. Herein, we describe a case of a 28-year-old woman diagnosed with atypical GS accompanying chondrocalcinosis. One year ago, she presented with vomiting, hypokalemic metabolic alkalosis, and hypocalciuria, and was tested by diuretic challenge test. As a result, she was diagnosed with atypical GS with normomagnesemia and treated with spironolactone and potassium supplementation. Meanwhile, acute arthritis of the right 1st metatarsophalangeal joint occurred. On the radiographies of the knees, chondrocalcinosis was observed. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report in Korea of GS with chondrocalcinosis. Antialdosterone therapy or magnesium supplementation is effective in preventing the progression of chondrocalcinosis; thus, early diagnosis and treatment of GS are important. NaCrO<sub>2</sub> cathode for high-rate sodium-ion batteries

<P>Sodium-ion batteries offer a potential alternative or complementary system to lithium-ion batteries, which are widely used in many applications. For this purpose, layered O3-type NaCrO<SUB>2</SUB> for use as a cathode material in sodium-ion batteries was synthesized <I>via</I> an emulsion-drying method. The produced NaCrO<SUB>2</SUB> was modified using pitch as a carbon source and the products were tested in half and full cells using a NaPF<SUB>6</SUB>-based non-aqueous electrolyte solution. The carbon-coated NaCrO<SUB>2</SUB> cathode material exhibits excellent capacity retention with superior rate capability up to a rate of 150 C (99 mA h (g oxide)<SUP>−1</SUP>), which corresponds to full discharge during 27 s. The surface conducting carbon layer plays a critically important role in the excellent performance of this cathode material. We confirmed the reaction process with sodium using X-ray diffraction and X-ray absorption spectroscopy. Thermal analysis using time-resolved X-ray diffraction also demonstrated the structural stability of carbon-coated Na<SUB>0.5</SUB>CrO<SUB>2</SUB>.
