        Conceptual Study for Tissue-Regenerative Biodegradable Magnesium Implant Integrated with Nitric Oxide-Releasing Nanofi bers

        The excessive initial corrosion rate of Mg is a critical limitation in the clinical application of biodegradable Mg implantsbecause the device loses its fi xation strength before the fractured bone heals. This study suggests a new approach to overcomethis hurdle by accelerating tissue regeneration instead of delaying the implant biodegradation. As angiogenesis is anessential process in early bone regeneration, a Mg implant coated with electrospun nanofi bers containing nitric oxide (NO),which physiologically promotes angiogenesis, is designed. The integrated device enables adjustable amounts of NO to bestored on the NO donor-conjugated nanofi ber coating, stably delivered, and released to the fractured bone tissue near theimplanted sites. An in vitro corrosion test reveals no adverse eff ect of the released NO on the corrosion behavior of the Mgimplant. Simultaneously, the optimal concentration level of NO released from the implant signifi cantly enhances tube networkformation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells without any cytotoxicity problem. This indicates that angiogenesis canbe accelerated by combining NO-releasing nanofi bers with a Mg implant. With its proven feasibility, the proposed approachcould be a novel solution for the initial stability problem of biodegradable Mg implants, leading to successful bone fi xation.

      • 어머니의 성격특성이 양육스트레스와 양육행동에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study was to examine effects of mother's personality on parenting stress and behaviors. Subjects of this study were 425 mothers of young children aged 3-5 years old attending 2 kindergartens and 4 child care centers located Cheong-ju city and Chungbuk province. Data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, Cronbach's α, and Pearson's product-moment correlation coefficient using the SPSS 12.0 program, and path analysis was done using AMOS 7.0 program. The results of this study were as follows: First, mother's open-mindedness of personality had a direct effect on parenting stress caused by dysfunctional parent-child interaction on while mother's extraversion of personality had directly impacted on parenting stress aroused by her own parenting. However, mother's neuroticism of personality had directly affected on all areas of parenting stress which it indicated mother's neuroticism was the most strong impactor on parenting stress. Second, parenting stress caused by child and mother had direct effects on mother's controlling parenting while all areas of parenting stress caused by child, mother, and dysfunctional parent-child interaction had direct effects on mother's rejective parenting behavior. Mother's affectionate parenting behavior was directly affected by parenting stress caused parent-child dysfunctional interaction. Third, mother's open-mindedness, extroversion, neuroticism of personality had indirect effects on mother's parenting behavior mediated by parenting stress.

        지역4-H조직의 내적 적합성에 관한 문화기술적 연구

        이 연구의 목적은 지역4-H조직의 내적 적합성을 탐색하고 이를 기술하는데 있었다. 2006년 8월부터 10월까지 약 3개월 동안 지역4-H후원회 회장 및 임원진 3명, 지역4-H연맹 회장 1명, 학교4-H 지도교사 4명, 지역의 영농4-H회장 1명, 시·군 농업기술센터 소장 및 4-H담당자 9명을 주요 연구 참가자로 하여 심층면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 수집한 자료를 분석한 결과는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 지역4-H조직 관련자들이 인식하는 지역4-H조직의 주요성과 격차로, ① 민간4-H조직을 중심으로 한 자율적이고 독립적인 활동 부재, ② 지역4-H조직 간 다양한 종류의 협력 부재, ③ 지역사회에서 4-H활동에 대한 가치 인식 부족이 나타났다. 둘째, 지역4-H조직의 핵심 과업으로 ① 4-H의 가치 및 이념에 부합하고, 지역의 실정에 맞는 프로그램 확보, ② 지역4-H 조직 간 협력적 네트워크 확립, ③ 4-H에 대한 지역사회의 관심 및 지지 확보가 나타났다. 셋째, 지역4-H조직의 내적 부적합성으로는 ① 인원 확보의 어려움과 핵심과업에 대한 전문성 결여, ② 관료화되고 경직된 낡은 문화, ③ 조직적 자원의 축소 및 조직 간 낮은 네트워크의 수준이 도출되었다. The purpose of this study was to describe and understand internal fit in Local 4-H Organization. The main participants of this study were one leader and two members of Local 4-H Society for the support, one leader of Local 4-H Association, four School 4-H teacher, one leader of Local farm 4-H, 9 local agricultural extension workers. The data were collected through in-depth interview with them from August, 2006 to October, 2006. The Results from this study were as follow: 1. Key performance gaps of local 4-H organizations were identified: ① lack of local 4-H based activities, ② lack of various types of partnership between local 4-H organizations, ③ lack of understanding value of 4-H activities in the communities. 2. Key tasks of local 4-H organizations were identified: ① developing local 4-H programs based on 4-H's values and ideas, ② establishing the cooperative networks among local 4-H organizations, ③ ensuring the interest and support about 4-H in the communities. 3. Internal misalignments of local 4-H organizations were identified: ① difference of recruitment and lack of expertise, ② bureaucratic and rigid cultures, ③ decrease in organizational support and low level of network among organizations.

        L-라이신 발효에 있어서 당밀전처리의 영향

        Can molasses, the most widely used carbon source for the industrial fermentation of L-lysine, usually contains a high concentration of calcium ions which tend to cause scaling problem in the recovery process. To remove the calcium ions, cane molasses was pretreated with sulfuric acid by adjusting the pH to 2.5~3.5. When the pretreated solution was directly heat-sterilized and used in the fermentation, a significant reduction in L-lysine production was observed. In this paper, we proved that sucrose is a superior substrate for L-lysine fermentation of that of glucose or fructose and that the above-mentioned decrease of L-lysine production was caused by the hydrolysis of sucrose in the molasses when the molasses was heat-sterilized at a low pH. The problem was overcome by adjusting the pH of molasses to neutral before sterilization.

      • n-CdS_(0.46)Se_(0.54)/p-Cu_92-x)S_(0.46)Se_(0.54) 이종접합 태양전지의 제작과 그 특성에 관한 연구

        승화방법에 의해 CdS_0.46Se_0.54 단결정을 성장하여 결정구조를 조사하고, Van der Pauw 방법으로 Hall effect를 측정하여 carrier density의 온도 의존성과 mobility의 온도 의존성을 조사하였다. 성장된 CdS_0.46Se_0.54 단결정을 치환반응하여 n-CdS_0.46Se_0.54/p-Cu_2-xS_0.46Se_0.54 이종접합 태양전지를 제작하였다. Spectral response, 전류-전압특성 및 전력변환 효율을 조사하여 그 결과로부터 개방전압은 0.48V, 단락 전류 밀도는 21mA/㎠, fill factor와 전력변환효율은 각각 0.75와 9.5%를 얻었다. CdS_0.46Se_0.54 single crystal was grown by a sublimation method. The crystal structure and the temperature dependence of carrier density and mobility of CdS_0.46Se_0.54 single crystal were studied. Heterojunction solar cells on n-CdS_0.46Se_0.54/p-Cu_2-xS_0.46Se_0.54 were fabricated by the substitution reaction. The spectral response, the J-U characteristics and the conversion efficiency of the n-CdS_0.46Se_0.54/p-Cu_2-xS_0.46Se_0.54 heterojunction solar cells were studied. The open-cricuit voltage, short-circuit density, fill factor and conversion efficiency of n-CdS_0.46Se_0.54/p-Cu_2-xS_0.46Se_0.54 heterojunction solar cells under 80mW/㎠ illumination were found to be 0.48V, 21mA/㎠, 0.75 and 9.5%, respectively.

        Development of Local Stem Volume Table for Pinus rigida Miller by the Best Stem Taper Equation

        This study was conducted to develop local stem volume tables reflecting the local growth pattern and climate condition using stem taper equations for Pinus rigida. We developed the local stem volume table for P. rigida, which is the widely planted species following Pinus denisflora and Larix kamepferi in South Korea. Three Functions of Max & Burkhart, Kozak and Parresol et al. were applied and compared to derive the most suitable taper function. Their suitability was statistically analyzed by using the Fitness Index, Bias and Standard Error of Bias. The result showed that there was a significant difference in all three functions, and the Fitness Index of the Kozak’s function was the highest among the three functions for estimating the tree growth pattern of P. rigida. Therefore, the Kozak’s function was chosen for generating stem taper equation and local stem volume tables for P. rigida. The developed stem volume tables of each region were compared to the standard stem volume table that was driven by the data of tree growth obtained throughout the nation. The result showed that the local stem volume table was higher than standard volume tables in two regions of Muju and Boeun. There was a statistically significant difference (p<α=0.05), but there was no significant (p >α=0.05) between the local stem volume.

        Development of an Environmental Load Estimation Model in the Planning Stage of Steel Box Girder Bridges

        <P>Currently, there is increased concern regarding environmental pollution, and research has been conducted to assess the life cycle of environmental pollutants to determine environmental compatibility. In particular, an SOC facility is expected to severely affect the environment since various materials are used through complex processes. However, countermeasures and research regarding environmental pollution in SOC facilities are insufficient. This study built design data about the steel box girder bridges of 120 that have been designed since 2000, and life cycle assessments were carried out in the planning stage. First, a standard classification of steel bridges was established, and a detailed statement of the design for basic design data and input materials for each target bridge was analyzed, and the environmental load amounts for each material that is used was estimated by applying LCI DB, presented as a characteristic value and weighted value. A correlation analysis was conducted to select the influence during the planning stage. We developed an environmental load amounts calculation model using casebased reasoning. The environmental load amounts and the estimation of the environmental load models was derived from this study and considered to be useful to produce basic data in life cycle assessment when designing steel bridges.</P>

        Effects of Task-Oriented Training in Water on Balance and Gait in Patients with Hemiplegia

        Purpose This study investigated the effects of task-oriented training in water on balance and gait in patients with hemiplegia. Methods Thirty-one patients with hemiplegia were randomly assigned into three groups: conventional therapeutic exercise (CTE), single-task training (STT), and dual-task training (DTT). The CTE group performed general exercise therapy, and the STT and DTT groups performed single-task and dual-task training, respectively, in the water. All groups performed the therapy five times a week, for 4 weeks. Results All groups showed significant difference in the timed up and go test (TUG), Berg balance scale (BBS), functional gait assessment (FGA), and weight-bearing deviation (WBD) within the group. Only the BBS showed significant difference between the DTT and CTE groups. Conclusion Task-oriented training in water was effective to improve balance and gait in patients with hemiplegia and dual-task training in water is more effective in some cases.

      • Black Phosphorus–Zinc Oxide Nanomaterial Heterojunction for p–n Diode and Junction Field-Effect Transistor

        <P>Black phosphorus (BP) nanosheet is two-dimensional (2D) semiconductor with distinct band gap and attracting recent attention from researches because it has some similarity to gapless 2D semiconductor graphene in the following two aspects: single element (P) for its composition and quite high mobilities depending on its fabrication conditions. Apart from several electronic applications reported with BP nanosheet, here we report for the first time BP nanosheet-ZnO nanowire 2D-1D heterojunction applications for p-n diodes and BP-gated junction field effect transistors (JFETs) with n-ZnO channel on glass. For these nanodevices, we take advantages of the mechanical flexibility of p-type conducting of BP and van der Waals junction interface between BP and ZnO. As a result, our BP-ZnO nanodimension p-n diode displays a high ON/OFF ratio of similar to 10(4) in static rectification and shows kilohertz dynamic rectification as well while ZnO nanowire channel JFET operations are nicely demonstrated by BP gate switching in both electrostatics and kilohertz dynamics.</P>
