The main purpose of this study is to suggest the future direction of management information system at the Department of Health and Social Welfare. To this end, I analyze the work flow at the Department. This analysis suggests us that the following three sub-systems are necessary for MIS: 1) vertical information network; 2) horizontal information network; and 3) information center.

Numerous foreign studies document perceived difference of the public toward male and female doctors, but little is known about the way Korean college students view the gender of the doctors. This study investigates whether or not college students evaluate the technical and socio-psychological skills differently depending on the gender of the doctors. This study also tests the association between the gender of respondents and the gender of doctors of their choice for several types of diseases. The 440 college students at one campus were selected using systematic stratified random sampling technique and were interviewed by questionnaire survey. Findings indicate that while the scores of technical skills are in favor of male doctors, the scores of socio-psychological skills are favorable to female doctors. We also find that there Is a statistically significant relationship between the gender of respondents and the gender of doctors of their choice.

The purpose of this study is to find determinants for service mind and skills of hospital employees to seek ways to improve the service level of hospitals. The past studies focused on the perspectives of customers in finding the solutions for service improvement. However, the existing approach failed in delving into the whole picture of service system. The behind operation of service system(e.g., selection and training of employees, support system) needs to be examined to have a balanced solution of service improvement. The personal characteristics, organizational characteristics, and customer experience were considered as the independent variables in predicting service mind and skills. The data collected in this study was gathered through questionnaire survey with 291 employees in five hospitals - from Sept. 10 to Oct. 16 in 2004. The results are as follows. 1. The regression analysis showed that job satisfaction and service commitment of organization were statistically significant in predicting service mind and skills. 2. The hierarchical regression analysis showed that the effect of hospital type on service mind was explained by service commitment of organization.

The purpose of this study is to examine the factors influencing the allergic rhinitis patients' satisfaction with laser surgery. The data were collected by telephone interviews with 211 patients who visited I university hospital. The statistical methods used for the analysis were factor analysis, reliability test, and hierarchical multiple regression. We find that satisfaction level is a function of not only the surgery outcome but also the socio-psychological experience during treatment. With the improvement in nasal allergic condition, patients were more likely to be satisfied with medical services. And patients who had positive experience with physicians and facilities reported higher satisfaction level. While the surgery outcome explained 68% of the variation of satisfaction level, socio-psychological experience explained 23% of it. This result clearly shows that physicians need to pay attention to the socio-psychological aspect as well as the technical aspect of medical services.
