        Since most human activities in a nuclear power plant are performed in the main control room (MCR), it is important to have its design well human-engineered, both physically and cognitively. Much research efforts have been given for better, operator-centered designs of human-machine interface in MCR capitalizing today's advanced information technology. Korea is among those who are actively expediting such research for the next-generation nuclear plants. This paper analyzes two forerunners among the emerging MCR designs, namely Nuplex 80+ and N4, from the perspective of cognitive systems engineering. Since the two show some fundamental differences in their design concepts, the principles with their pros and cons must be enumerated to benefit our own design of new control rooms. This paper also lists many other decision-making points that emerged due to the new availability of cognitively flexible design as they should also be considered based on cognitive engineering principles. The future scope and directions of related research are suggested.

        Effects of Concentration and Reaction Time of Trypsin, Pepsin, and Chymotrypsin on the Hydrolysis Efficiency of Porcine Placenta

        This study investigated the effects of three proteases (trypsin, pepsin and chymotrypsin) on the hydrolysis efficiency ofporcine placenta and the molecular weight (Mw) distributions of the placental hydrolysates. Because placenta was made upof insoluble collagen, the placenta was gelatinized by applying thermal treatment at 90°C for 1 h and used as the sample. The placental hydrolyzing activities of the enzymes at varying concentrations and incubation times were determined bysodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). Basedon the SDS-PAGE, the best placental hydrolysis efficiency was observed in trypsin treatments where all peptide bands dis-appeared after 1 h of incubation as compared to 6 h of chymotrypsin. Pepsin hardly hydrolyzed the placenta as compared tothe other two enzymes. The Mw distribution revealed that the trypsin produced placental peptides with Mw of 106 and 500Da. Peptides produced by chymotrypsin exhibited broad ranges of Mw distribution (1-20 kDa), while the pepsin treatmentshowed Mw greater than 7 kDa. For comparisons of pre-treatments, the subcritical water processing (37.5 MPa and 200°C)of raw placenta improved the efficiency of tryptic digestions to a greater level than that of a preheating treatment (90°C for1 h). Consequently, subcritical water processing followed by enzymatic digestions has the potential of an advanced collagenhydrolysis technique.

        평안노래기 (Cawjeekelia pyongana) 안테나 감각기의 미세구조

        다지류 노래기의 안테나는 다양한 환경 자극을 감지하는 탁월한 기능을 가지고 있다. 안테나의 구조적 특성은 감각하는 자극의 종류와 밀접한 연관을 가지고 있으므로 본 연구는 띠노래기목의 평안노래기(Cawjeekelia pyongana)를 실험재료로 하여 다지류 안테나 표면의 미세구조를 주사전자현미경(FESEM)으로 관찰하였다. 노래기의 안테나는 8개의 마디로 이루어져 있었고, 큐티클의 표면에는 후각과 기계적 감각을 담당하는 다양한 종류의 감각기들이 형성되어 있었다. 평안노래기 안테나의 감각기들은 말단마디에 형성된 4개의 대형 원추말단(Ac) 감각기와 관상 감각모(Ts), 모상 감각모(Cs), 추상 감각모(Bs) 등 3종류의 감각모들로 이루어져 있음이 확인되었다. 관상 감각모는 제1마디를 제외한 전체 마디에 걸쳐 관찰되었고, 모상 감각모는 제4마디부터 제7마디까지, 그리고 추상 감각기는 제5마디부터 제7마디까지의 표면 함몰부에서만 관찰되었다. 추상 감각기는 그 미세구조적 특징에 따라 길이가 긴 제1형$(Bs_1)$과 길이가 짧은 제2형$(Bs_2)$, 가시 모양의 제3형$(Bs_3)$으로 다시 세분되었다. 제1형은 제5마디에만 분포되어 있었고, 제2형은 제5마디 및 제6마디에, 그리고 제3형은 제7마디에만 분포되어 있음이 확인되었다. The antennae of millipedes have a prominent function in detecting various types of environmental stimuli. The structural modification of the antennae is closely associated with the degree of sense recognition. Here we study functional morphology of the antennae of the millipede Cawjeekelia pyongana using field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM). The antennae generally include eight segments, called articles. On the surface of the antennae, there are a variety of sensory receptors which include olfactory and mechanical receptors. We could identify four different types of antennal sensory organs in C. pyongana as follows: apical cone (Ac), trichoid sensilla (Ts), chaetiform sensilla (Cs) and basiconic sensilla (Bs). The most prominent of which is four APs at the 8th article. Both of the Is and the Cs are abundantly observed almost all of the antennal segments. They are long and strong bristles with longitudinal grooves acuminating toward the tip. The Bs is further divided into three subtypes: large basiconic sensilla $(Bs_1)$, small basiconic sensilla $(Bs_2)$ and spiniform basiconic sensilla $(Bs_3)$. The $Bs_1$ is located at the 5th and 6th articles, while the $Bs_2$ and $Bs_3$ can be seen at the 5th and at the 7th article, respectively.

        Quality Enhancement for Hybrid 3DTV with Mixed Resolution Using Conditional Replenishment Algorithm

        This paper proposes a conditional replenishmentalgorithm (CRA) to improve the visual quality (wherespatial resolutions of the left and right views aremismatched) of a hybrid stereoscopic 3DTV that is basedon the ATSC-M/H standard. So as to generate anenhanced view, the CRA is to choose the better substituteamong a disparity-compensated view with high qualityand a simply interpolated view. The CRA generates adisparity map that includes modes and disparity vectorsas additional information. It also employs a quad-treestructure with variable block size by considering thespatial correlation of disparity vectors. In addition, it takesadvantage of the disparity map used in a previous frameto keep the amount of additional information as small aspossible. The simulation results show that the proposedCRA can successfully improve the peak signal-to-noiseratio of a poor-quality view and consequently have apositive effect on the subjective quality of the resulting 3Dview.

        만성 뇌졸중 환자에서 운동 기능 회복에 대한 로봇-보조 보행치료의 효과

        Objective: To investigate the effects of robot-assisted gait therapy on locomotor recovery in hemiparetic patients after stroke.Method: Twenty five stroke patients were randomly divided into 2 groups. Robotic training group received 30 minutes of robot-assisted gait therapy, 3 times a week for 4 weeks, while control group received conventional gait training with same duration and frequency as robotic group. Outcome was measured using Motricity index, Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA), function ambulation category, modified motor assessment scale, 10-meter gait speed, isometric torque, Ashworth scale, gait analysis, body tissue composition, and Beck's depression inventory (BDI).Results: Robotic training group showed significant improvement in motor functions measured by Motricity Index, FMA, 10-meter gait speed, isometric torque of hip compared with the baseline and with those of control group. Ashworth scale of hip, BDI, and muscle mass showed significantly greater improvement in robotic training group than control group. In gait analysis, stride length of unaffected leg demonstrated significant improvement in robotic training group (p<0.05).Conclusion: The robot-assisted gait therapy with body weight-support is considered to facilitate locomotor recovery of the hemiparetic stroke patient.

        尤庵 宋時烈 散文의 문예적 면모

        This thesis is a study on the prose of Woo-am, Song Si-yeol. He was a politician and a philosopher who had the greatest influence on Chosun Dynasty in the seventeenth century. He was in an era of cultural restoration of MokReungSeongSei and wrote many literary works, especially prose, based on historical events, ImjinWaeRan and BeyngJaHoRan. Woo-am worte 『SongJaDaeJeon』 which had a unique title. Many literary men have collected his works after he died so 『SongJaDaeJeon』 is too vast. Woo-am tried to express 'extraordinariness' in his works as the evaluation of later ages. It was influenced by Han-yu who was a writer in China. There are feelings of movement and interest in his works. He changed the semantic structure of his works using his new idea instead of not making the construction and contents of his works flat. Only the writers capable of constructing sentences delicately can change semantic structure. But Woo-am made these changes in his works creatively. His creative method of description has been a controversy. Woo-am frequently quoted the scriptures that had the absolute authority and gave persuasive power to his view in this way. This thesis is the result of researching the vast collection of Woo-am. Diverse research is required to understand Woo-am's collection because his collection is the most massive collection among Korean writers of many generations. But this thesis partially concerns the prose of Woo-am. Hopefully research on Woo-am wll be active and continuous. 본고는 17세기 尤庵 宋時烈(1607∼1689)의 산문에 대한 연구로 그의 산문의 문예적 특장을 주목한 연구 결과물이다. 그는 17세기 정치적사상적 측면에 탁월한 업적을 남긴 바, 상대적으로 문학에 대해 주목하지 않았다. 이에 본고는 우암 산문의 문예적 특징 중 다양한 奇法과 氣勢를 통해 우암이 얼마만큼 문학에 관심을 가졌는지를 연구하였다. 우암은 후배 문인들의 평가처럼 ‘奇’를 추구하였다. 우암이 추구한 ‘奇’는 秦漢古文派들의 ‘佶屈牙’처럼 어려운 字句를 사용하는 것이 아니라 韓愈 등 고문가들이 추구했던 ‘奇’를 추구하였다. 그 중 ‘句法奇’, ‘章法奇’와 ‘構思創意奇’가 두드러졌다. 우암은 哉耶乎 등 허사를 사용해서 분위기를 고조시켜 문장의 기세를 점점 강하게 만들기도 하고 동일한 글자를 반복적으로 사용하여 기세를 증강시키기도 하였다. 우암은 작품의 구조와 내용을 평범하게 표현하지 않고 의미 구조에 변화를 주거나 새로 생각해낸 것으로 생동감 있고 흥미롭게 표현하였다. 이런 의미구조의 변화는 문장을 치밀하게 구성해야만 가능한 방법으로 작자의 문예적 역량이 없으면 표현하기 어렵지만, 우암은 산문작품에서 자신만의 창의적인 생각으로 표현하고 있었다. 이후 우암은 자신만의 독창적인 서술방법으로 후인들의 논란거리가 되곤 하였다.우암은 작품에서 자신의 감정을 磊落한 氣勢로 격정적으로 표현했는데, 작품 중 碑誌文이나 傳에는 대개 戰亂에서 전사한 인물들을 대상으로 찬술한 작품들을 많이 발견할 수 있었다. 자신의 감정을 작품에 얼마만큼 투영할 수 있는가는 작품의 문학적 성과의 여부를 가늠할 수 있는 기준인데, 우암은 戰場의 상황이나 장렬히 죽는 인물을 묘사할 때, 감정과 기세가 어우러진 적절한 단어를 선택하여 묘사하며 주인공의 행위를 자신의 격렬하고 강렬한 감정의 색채가 드러나도록 어휘를 선택하며 묘사하고 있었다.
