구순열 및 구개열 신생아의 수술 전 악정형장치(발육유도장치)에 관하여

연구목적 : 구순열 및 구개열 환자에게 수술 전에 시행하고 있는 포유상을 겸한 악정형장치에 대한 소개와 발육유도장치로서의 지속적인 연구의 기초자료로 삼고자 한다. 대상 및 방법 : 본과에서 제작하는 악정형장치의 제작 방법을 소개하고 문헌의 전형적인 Hotz plate와 비교 검토하며, 실제 사용한 8례의 환자에 대한 평가를 시행한다. 결과 : 악정형장치의 장착으로 구순열 및 구개열 환자의 현저한 포유 능력의 개선과 상악 악궁의 배열이 개선된 것이 관찰된다. 결론 : 현재 사용되고 있는 악정형장치의 개선과 발육유도장치로서의 기능에 대한 보다 장기적이고 체계적인 연구가 필요하다. Purpose : This study was an introduction of the presurgical orthopedic appliance as a prosthetic plate for bottle feeding and growth guiding for the cleft lip and palte patients, and a basis of the continuing study about the orthopedic appliance. Materials and Methods : We described the method of making an orthopedic appliance which was used at out department and compared with the typical Hotz plate. And we evaluated 8 cases in our department. Results : After an application of presurgical orthopedic appliance, remarkable improvement of sucking ability of a cleft lip and palate patients and good arrangement of maxillary arch form were observed. Conclusion : The improvement of the presurgical orthopedic appliance and continuing study were needed.
Evaluation of RF shielding materials to improve MR image of hybrid PET/MRI

Hybrid PET/MRI is a useful imaging system that can improve diagnostic accuracy by providing both functional and anatomical information. However, the combination of PET and MRI can lead to mutual interference, which can degrade the performances of both imaging systems. One of the methods that is capable of preserving the performance of both modalities is to apply RF shielding to PET detectors and electronics. The purpose of this study was to propose a new RF shielding method using Au-plated conductive fabric (PCF) tape that could not only minimize RF interference and eddy current, but that could also be applied to complex PET gantry and detector module structures more easily than thin Cu foils, which have been widely used as a shielding material for hybrid PET/MRI systems. To evaluate the performance of the proposed new RF shielding method, the effects of the two RF shield materials (Cu and Au) on the B1 + field generated by the RF head coil were estimated using a computer simulation method. The effects of the Au PCF tape and Cu foil on the homogeneity and SNR of the MR image were also experimentally evaluated using a commercial 3-T MRI. The uniformity of the B1 + field map was slightly decreased by the use of Cu and Au RF shields. The deterioration in the MR image quality caused by the Au PCF tape was less than that caused by Cu foil. The simulation and experimental results indicate that Au PCF tape can serve as an alternative shielding material that reduces RF interference and eddy current for hybrid PET/MRI systems.

Unlike the human rights issues involving women, children or the disabled, the universal norm for the human rights of elderly people is not firmly established from the aspect of the international law. The purpose of this study is to specify the human rights of elderly people and to explore a range of potential policies to socially realize those human rights that serve as a base for an independent life in old age and social integration by more narrowly focusing on the unique experience and recognition in old age. To this end, this study materializes the human rights of elderly people by closely analyzing human rights principles emphasized in international and domestic laws and those addressed from the unique experience of Korean people in old age. Further, it classifies the area of the human rights of elderly people by looking through relevant provisions and clauses of international laws or conventions related to the human rights of elderly people in order to present Korea-specific situations. The study mainly deals with income/dwelling, labor, social participation and family caregiving among many human rights areas of elderly people. It reconstructs universally declared principles on human rights by looking into the conformity of those principles with international standards and practices for elderly people. The human rights principles on elderly people can be found in universally declared principles on human rights. And those principles recommend that the human rights of elderly people should be guaranteed in the same conditions as those of other people in the course of application of the rights in a universal way but it is still fragile.

An accurate quantitative estimation of the radioactive tracer distribution in positron emission tomography (PET) requires correction of the observed emission data for the attenuation factors. For this purpose, transmission data, provided by X-ray computerized tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), are often used to measure the attenuation rate in observed PET data. In this paper, we propose an iterative simultaneous attenuation correction and activity estimation method without transmission data. In each iteration, the proposed method disperses the attenuation effect in the time-of-flight (TOF) PET sinogram in each line-of-response to the current iterates for the activity estimate, then uses that iterate to update the attenuation rate in the TOF PET sinogram, and finally use that updated attenuation rate in computing the next iterates. The simulation result shows that the proposed method corrects attenuation artifact accurately and produces activity estimates comparable to reconstructed ones from attenuation-free data.

<P>The aim of this study was to develop a prototype magnetic resonance (MR)-compatible positron emission tomography (PET) that can be inserted into a MR imager and that allows simultaneous PET and MR imaging of the human brain. This paper reports the initial results of the authors' prototype brain PET system operating within a 3-T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system using newly developed Geiger-mode avalanche photodiode (GAPD)-based PET detectors, long flexible flat cables, position decoder circuit with high multiplexing ratio, and digital signal processing with field programmable gate array-based analog to digital converter boards.</P>
