        This study was carried out to evaluate the application possibility of UF Membrane System to papermaking industry in order to optimize the recycling of white water. In this study, for the efficiency test of UF modules, the MWCO(molecular weight cut-off) of the membrane was estimated by the COD measurement from UF filtrate water. From the rejection rate of membrane, three kinds of UF module were selected and evaluated in the factors of COD, SS, turbidity and flow rate.

      • 돼지 미성숙 난포란의 회수 및 체외수정에 관한 연구

        본 연구는 돼지의 체외수정에 있어서 난포란의 회수방법과 체외수정란 및 체외발달율을 조사하여 체외수정의 기본 원리를 밝히고자 본 연구를 수행하였다. 도축장으로부터 채집한 난소의 난포에서 흡입법, 세절법 및 흡입후세절법 등으로 난포란을 채취하여 등급별로 분류하여 회수율을 조사하였으며, 채취한 난포란은 액상정액과 정소상체미부 정액을 사용하여 체외수정을 시킨후 TCM-199 와 NCSU-23 배양액으로 체외배양을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서 얻은 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 회수방법당 각각 37개의 난소에서 회수한 난포란의 수는 흡입법이 1,365개, 세절법이 1,884개 및 흡입후 세절법이 3.830개로써 난소당 난포란의 수는 각각 36.9, 50.9 및 103.5개로써 회수방법간에 유의적(P<0.05)인 차이가 있었다. 액상정액과 정소상체미부 정액을 사용하였을 때 수정율은 각각 83.0 및 83.% 로써 정액간에 유의적(P<0.05) 인 차이는 없었다. 체외수정이 이루어진 난자들의 분할율도 액상정액(60.8%) 과 정소상체미부 정액(69.0%) 간에 유의적(P<0.05) 인 차이는 없었다. 2-4세포기로의 발달율은 24.6 및 28.4%로써 배양액간에 위의적(P<0.05)인 차이는 없었으며, 상실배로의 발달율도 TCM-199 와 NCSU-23 배양액이 각각 14.8 및 24.5% 로써 이들간에 유의적(P<0.05)인 차이는 없었다. To improve the efficiency of in vitro production of embryos with follicular oocytes in pig, the recovery rates, in vitro fertilization and development, and the time required for collectng and processing oocytes by aspiration with or without slicing were evaluated comparatively. The oocytes were collected by aspiration of follicles(2-6mm) with or without slicing ovaries after aspiration, and classified into grade I-IV oocytes by the morpholoy of cumulus cells attached and the homogeneity of cytoplasmic granules. The grade Ⅰ-Ⅱ oocytes were matured invitro for 46 hours in TCM-199 and NCSU-23 supplemented with 1㎍/㎖ FSH, 2IU/㎖ hCG, 1㎍/㎖ estradiol-17 at 39℃ under 5% CO_2 in air. They were fertilized in vitro by epididymis sperm and ejaculated sperm treated with hypotaurin for 24 hours. and then the zygotes were co-cultured in vitro with pFF(porcine follicular fluid) for 7-9 days. The results obtained were as follows: The number of ocytes recovered per ovary was averaged 30.7 by aspiration, 50.8 by slicing and 103.5 by aspiration post slicing. The number of grade Ⅰ oocytes recovered was total 0.2% by aspiration, 0.1% by slicing and 0.1% by aspiration post slicing. The oocytes recovered per ovary was significantly(P<0.05) higher as recovery methods. The cleavage rates of the embryos obtained from 83.0(ejaculate sperm) and 83.1(epididymis sperm) respectively(P<0.05). In vitro developmental rates(9.9 and 18.6%) of embryos cultured in TCM-199 and NCSU-23 up to morula stage were non significantly(P<0.05) different between the culture media.

        하악골에 발생된 Low grade 골육종:증례보고

        Osteosarcoma is a primary malignant tumor arising most often in the long bone, but rare in jaw bone. Especially osteogenic sarcoma of the mandible is a rare tumor, comprising less than 0.5% of all head and neck tumors. Osteosarcoma occurs cheifly in young persons, and presenting very survival rates. Histopathologically this tumor can be classified three types, osteoblastic, fibroblastic, chondroblastic and classified from low grade to high grade by anaplasia or mitosis of the tumor cells. Sometimes, the exact diagnosis of osteosarcoma is difficult especially in low grade osteosarcoma, even if clinical or radiographical findings suggest to osteosarcoma. So suspcious to malignant bone tumor in clinical or radiological findings, biopsy should be taked from deep portion and multiple area, and sharing the patient history and radiographs with pathologist will assist in the development of the diagnosis. We report a case of low grade osteosarcoma on the mandible initially difficulty in accurate diagnosis. The patient visited our hospital for routine dental treatment but radiographic findings displayed ill-defined radiolucency with osteoid formation on the mandible. Final diagnosis was difficulty in initial biopsy but subsequent biopsy taked from deep portion presented infiltrative growth and mitosis of the tumor cell in some area with small osteoid bone formation, so we could reach final diagnosis as low grade sarcoma. We treated this patient with bloc resection of the mandible and immediate reconstruction with iliac corticocancellous block.

        Enhancement strategy for effective vascular regeneration following myocardial infarction through a dual stem cell approach

        Since an impaired coronary blood supply following myocardial infarction (MI) negatively affects heart function, therapeutic neovascularization is considered one of the major therapeutic strategies for cell-based cardiac repair. Here, to more effectively achieve therapeutic neovascularization in ischemic hearts, we developed a dual stem cell approach for effective vascular regeneration by utilizing two distinct types of stem cells, CD31+-endothelial cells derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSC-ECs) and engineered human mesenchymal stem cells that continuously secrete stromal derived factor-1α (SDF-eMSCs), to simultaneously promote natal vasculogenesis and angiogenesis, two core mechanisms of neovascularization. To induce more comprehensive vascular regeneration, we intramyocardially injected hiPSC-ECs to produce de novo vessels, possibly via vasculogenesis, and a 3D cardiac patch encapsulating SDF-eMSCs (SDF-eMSC-PA) to enhance angiogenesis through prolonged secretion of paracrine factors, including SDF-1α, was implanted into the epicardium of ischemic hearts. We verified that hiPSC-ECs directly contribute to de novo vessel formation in ischemic hearts, resulting in enhanced cardiac function. In addition, the concomitant implantation of SDF1α-eMSC-PAs substantially improved the survival, retention, and vasculogenic potential of hiPSC-ECs, ultimately achieving more comprehensive neovascularization in the MI hearts. Of note, the newly formed vessels through the dual stem cell approach were significantly larger and more functional than those formed by hiPSC-ECs alone. In conclusion, these results provide compelling evidence that our strategy for effective vascular regeneration can be an effective means to treat ischemic heart disease.

        Two-stage label-free aptasensing platform for rapid detection of <i>Cronobacter sakazakii</i> in powdered infant formula

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P> <I>Cronobacter sakazakii</I> constitutes one of the most life-threatening foodborne pathogens in neonates, and is typically acquired via contaminated powdered infant formula. In this study, we developed a sensitive and convenient two-stage label-free aptasensing platform for colorimetric detection of <I>C. sakazakii</I> in powdered infant formula. In this system, <I>C. sakazakii</I> depletes aptamers from the test solution, and the reduction of aptamers induces aggregation of gold nanoparticles in salt, a process accompanied by a color change from red to purple. Under optimal conditions, <I>C. sakazakii</I> present in PIF at a concentration as low as 7.1×10<SUP>3</SUP> CFU mL<SUP>−1</SUP> could be visually detected within 30min, with a linear range between 7.1×10<SUP>3</SUP> and 7.1×10<SUP>7</SUP> CFU mL<SUP>−1</SUP>.       • GO-14 : The overtreatment risk of see-and-treat strategy in management of abnormal cervical cytology

        To evaluate the feasibility of conization without prior punch biopsy for patient with abnormal cytology. A retrospective review was performed for 700 patients who underwent conization at a single institution from January 2003 to August 2012. Each of these patients was assigned into one of two groups, either the ‘See-and-treat’ group or the ‘Three-step’ group, depending on whether the patient had undergone punch biopsy before conization or not. The final histologic results of two groups were compared. Seventy percent of patients (490 of 700) were diagnosed with one of the following: cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN) II, CIN III, squamous cell carcinoma(SCC), or other malignancy. The overtreatment risk was higher in ‘see-and-treat’ group in patients with atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance/ low grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (ASCUS/LSIL) cytology. (64.7% in ‘see-and-treat’ group vs, 36.5% in ‘three-step’ group; p=.001) There was no significant statistical difference in the rate of high-grade cervical dysplasia or invasive carcinoma in patients with high grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) cytology between groups. (91.8% in ‘See-and-treat’ group vs. 93.5% in ‘Three-step’ group; p=.793) Patients with HSIL on cytology can be managed by ‘see-and-treat’ strategy with low risk of overtreatment. Conversely, ‘three-step’ management is more appropriate for patients with ASCUS/LSIL cytology.

        A useful additional medial subbrow approach for the treatment of medial orbital wall fracture with subciliary technique

        Background: To date, a variety of surgical approaches have been used to reconstruct the medial orbital wall fracture. Still however, there is still a controversy as to their applicability because of postoperative scars, injury of anatomical structures and limited visual fields. The purpose of this study was to introduce a useful additional medial subbrow approach for better reduction and securement more accurate implant pocket of medial orbital wall fracture with the subciliary technique. Methods: We had performed our technique for a total of 14 patients with medial orbital wall fracture at our medical institution between January 2016 and July 2017. All fractures were operated through subciliary technique combined with the additional medial subbrow approach. They underwent subciliary approach accompanied by medial wall dissection using a Louisville elevator through the slit incision of the medial subbrow procedure. This facilitated visualization of the medial wall fracture site and helped to ensure a more accurate pocket for implant insertion. Results: Postoperative outcomes showed sufficient coverage without displacement. Twelve cases of preoperative diplopia improved to two cases of postoperative diplopia. More than 2 mm enophthalmos was 14 cases preoperatively, improving to 0 case postoperatively. Without damage such as major vessels or extraocular muscles, enophthalmos was corrected and there was no restriction of eyeball motion. Conclusion: Our ancillary procedure was useful in dissecting the medial wall, and it was a safe method as to cause no significant complications in our clinical series. Also, there is an only nonvisible postoperative scar. Therefore, it is a recommendable surgical modality for medial orbital wall fracture.
