The objectives of this study are 1) to find out the shear behavior and shear capacity of RC bare frames, brick-infilled RC frames, 2) to evaluate the equation of the shear capacity of two types of RC frames by comparison the Japanese Standard and modified equation adopting the test results. The main variable is the absence of brick infill wall. The test results show that the shear capacity of specimen IF-4.2 is 2.3 times as high as that of the specimen IF-4.2.The shear behavior of RC bare frame which is governed by predominant flexural yielding is changed to predominant shear yielding by affection of the brick infill wall. A comparison of the results obtained by the Japanese Standard equation and the modified equation to the test data indicates that the proposed equation is compatible with the test results.

This study conducted an empirical research to find ways to guide the career of college students in the social science at Soonchunhyang university. Research findings are as follows. 1) About 42% respondents answered that they did job-seeking efforts. 2) With regard to job preparing efforts, students spent their time on improving their English ability, major classes, computer ability, and license obtaining. 3) Job-related information sources in the school were not fully utilized by the students. 4) In the future, students hope that our school strengthen its PR efforts, open more English-related classes, improve its school image as a local university, and provide more job-related information The study concludes with implications of the study results and suggestions for career guidance of students.

With the rapid advancement in electronic industries, there is a great interest on the nano grain sized, high-purity copper, which possesses both high-strength and high-conductivity, produced by severe plastic deformation (SPD). The nano grain sized materials, in general, show the unconventional mechanical behavior as a result of extremely high density of grain boundary area causing a rapid dynamic recovery during deformation. The commercially available, high-purity copper usually contains a small amount of trace phosphorous, and the presence of such element is believed to affect the rate of dynamic recovery, and eventually tensile behavior of pure copper. In the present study, the effect of trace phosphorous on the tensile behavior of accumulative roll bond (ARB)ed high-purity copper was examined. Both 99.99% pure oxygen-free copper (OFC) and 99.9% pure deoxidized high phosphorous copper (DHP) were used for the present study. It was found that the tensile strength of OFC ceased to increase after 2 ARB process cycles, while that of DHP increased continuously with ARB process up to 8 cycles, suggesting that the presence of trace phosphorous affected the rate of dynamic recovery significantly. Finally, it was discussed how the trace phosphorous affected the tensile behavior of ARBed, high-purity copper, based on the SEM, TEM and DSC(differential scanning calorimeter) observations. We divided the sample into four groups by temperature regimes and comparing the Lethal effect after exposure to high room temperatures for 50~58 days. After inoculating Cnidium officinale Makino with Tribolium castaneum Herbst, the storage insects of medicinal herbs, was 20 respectively. The results of treating cut Cninium officinale Makino are listed below. Survival rate of group A by exposure of 5 times at 35~36.5℃ is less than 7.5%. Survival rate of group C by exposure of 5 times at 35.5~39.5℃ and group D by exposure of 23day at 37~44℃ is less than 2.5%. Especially in the case of group D, we found that complete eradication of the insect is difficult despite exposure high temperature for a long time. Also most of the grinded Cninium officinale Makino has the same patten but group B by relatively treated low temperature has a significant difference in mortality. Insect mortality in cut Cninium officinale Makino by exposure at 35℃ and 39.5℃ is 7.5% and the insect mortality in grinded Cninium officinale Makino by exposure at 39. 5℃ is only 75%. The reason is estimated that heat conduction of grinded Cninium officinale Makino is slow and it was less shocked by heat because The final core temperature of medicinal herbs is relatively low about 0.5~2℃. This means that storage insect(Tribolium castaneum Herbst) can be suppressed at mid-high temperature if it is to be treated more than 50 days without problem of quality deterioration of medicinal herbs that can be caused by high temperature.

Background: The purpose of this systematic review was to investigate various fixation methods or implants used in the treatment of Pauwels type III femoral neck fractures. Methods: PubMed Central, OVID Medline, Cochrane Collaboration Library, Web of Science, Embase, and AHRQ databases were searched to identify relevant studies published until August 2017 with English language restriction. Studies were selected on the basis of the following inclusion criteria: biomechanical study of Pauwels type III femoral neck fractures and the use of dynamic hip screw (DHS) or multiple screw fixation or other devices for fixation of the fracture. Results: A total of 15 studies were included in the systematic review. Eight studies were conducted using cadavers, six studies using sawbones, and one using a finite element model. During the mechanical testing, each study measured mechanical stiffness, failure to cyclic loading, failure to vertical loading of each fixation device. DHS was included in 11 studies, multiple screw fixation in 10 studies, and other devices in six studies. Baitner et al. and Samsami et al. reported that the mechanical stiffness of DHS was superior to three inverted triangular screw fixation. Hawks et al. and Gumustas et al. reported that using a transverse calcar screw can withstand vertical loading better than three inverted triangular screw fixation. In addition, there were some studies where instruments such as Intertan nail, locking plate or other devices showed excellent biomechanical properties. Conclusions: There are a variety of methods and instruments for fixation of the Pauwels type III fractures. However, it is difficult to conclude that any method is more desirable because there are advantages and disadvantages to each method. Therefore, we should pay attention to the implant choice and consider adequate weight bearing affecting the stiffness of the implant.

We have analyzed the temporal characteristics of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) in femtosecond terawatt Ti:sapphire lasers by using a simple method based on fast photodiodes. Instead of measuring ASE directly with fast photodiodes, we created a narrow gap in the spectrum of seed pulses and, after amplification, detected the pure ASE signal through the gap by using a fast photodiode covered with a bandpass filter with high transmission at the gap. Because the detected ASE signal was completely separated from amplified main pulses, preceding and even trailing ASEs could be characterized quantitatively in a single-shot measurement. We believe that our method is a good alternative or a complement to conventional methods for ASE measurements.

The anatomical quadrilateral surface buttress plate developed for the quadrilateral surface in an acetabular fracture, a type of fracture difficult to reduce using screws and plates due to its thinness, is a useful implant that makes surgical treatment easier. However, the anatomical structure is different for each patient, and it often does not match the contour of this plate, making detailed bending difficult. Here, we introduce a simple method for controlling the degree of reduction using this plate.
