        치위생의사소통 교육에서의 역할극 수업에 대한 인식과 경험에 대한 연구

        Background: This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of role-play in dental hygiene education by analyzing learners’ perceptions and experiences of role-play classes. Methods: Role-play was used as a teaching method to run dental medical communication and practice classes for 31 3rd graders in the Department of Dental Hygiene to investigate the learner’s perception of role-play classes, effectiveness of the classes, and learner’s perception of the experience. The Mann-Whitney U test was used to analyze the differences in learners’ perceptions of the role-play classes according to the main characteristics related to dental health communication education. Results: The correlation coefficient between awareness of dental communication education (4.74 ± 0.35) and awareness of role-play classes (4.44 ± 0.48) was an Rs of 0.634, showing a significant positive correlation (p <0.001). Conclusion: Learners recognized that dental hygiene communication competency is important for dental hygienists. In addition, a strategic teaching design is necessary to reduce the learner’s burden on role-play considering the learner’s experience, which is perceived as a disadvantage of role-play.

        코로나 19로 인한 온라인 수업운영 사례연구 - 임상치위생학의 치주기구조작 수업을 중심으로 -

        본 연구는 온라인 기반으로 수업으로 플립러닝과 유튜브 플랫폼을 활용한 임상치위생학 수업사례를 공유 하여 온라인 기반의 학생 참여중심의 자기주도 학습 방법을 설계하는데 필요한 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 15주 의 교육과정 중 6회의 플립러닝 교육과정을 적용하고 비대면 방식의 유튜브 플랫폼을 활용한 치주기구술기능력 향상을 위한 팀 프로젝트를 진행하였다. ‘온라인 수업(플립러닝, 유튜브 활동)을 통해 나는 많은 참여를 하게 되었 다’라는 질문에 4.65점으로 높은 점수를 보였으며, ‘온라인 수업(플립러닝, 유튜브 활동)을 나는 강의실 수업 못지 않게 적극적인 참여를 하게 되었다’라는 질문에 4.63점의 응답으로 매우 긍정적인 인식도를 보였다. 그러나 플립러 닝과 유튜브를 활용하여 실습수업은 운영하였을 때 실습자체에 대한 자신감이 비교적 낮게 나타났으며, 치주기구 의 구강 내 적용에서는 3.29점으로 가장 낮은 자신감을 보였다. 따라서 자기주도학습 태도가 반드시 학습자신감과 연결되는 것은 아니며, 온라인 실습수업으로 오는 학습 불안감 등이 학생들의 전반적인 학습자신감에 영향을 미친 것으로 볼 수 있다. 향후 포스트 코로나 시대에 온라인 수업에서 적용할 수 있는 학생참여 중심의 다양한 학습방 안과 교수설계방법 등이 개발되어야 할 것으로 사료된다. This study aims to share cases of clinical dental hygiene classes using flipped-learning and YouTube platforms due to COVID-19. It also provides the basic data needed to develop online-based student-centered learning methods. The flipped-learning curriculum was applied for six weeks out of 15 weeks. And it also carried out a team project to improve the skills of the periodontal hand instrument using an online YouTube platform. Dental hygiene students generally showed positive perceptions about online-based flipped learning and learning using the YouTube platform. In particular, the team project using the YouTube platform was found to be effective in improving students' active and self-directed learning attitude. As the COVID-19 situation lengthens, online classes will continue to increase. Accordingly, various learning methods centered on student participation should be developed to enhance learning confidence in online classes.

        A Study on the Change of Clinical Self-Confidence according to the Number of Clinical Dental Hygiene Practices of Students in the Department of Dental Hygiene - Focusing on scaling practices -

        The purpose of this study was to provide the basic data needed to plan the effective teaching design of scaling education and to measure the changes in students’ confidence in performing scaling according to the number of scaling practices. Scaling education is presented as a core basic hygiene competency of dental hygienists and evaluated as the practical competency of dental hygienists. This study selected 48 third-year students from the department of dental hygiene at S University in Asan, and analyzed data from completed participant surveys. The degree of “confidence in facing the subject in clinical practice,” “confidence in applying hand instrument to the subject,” and “confidence in applying ultrasonic instruments to the subject” was assessed on a five-point Likert scale. The difference in confidence was analyzed during five practice sessions. Each response was compared using frequency analysis, chi-square test, and repeated measurement ANOVA. Students who complained of a lack of confidence in the 14.6%, 25.0%, and 12.5%, respectively, in face-to-face practice, hand instruments, and ultrasonic instrument application responses. The more the practice was repeated, the more confident students were in all three categories, and the more statistically significant (p<0.001). As the number of scaling practice sessions increased, students’ confidence in performing scaling also improved. In particular, the level of self-confidence was higher after the third practice session when compared to the first session. Therefore, it is necessary to design effective courses for teaching scaling practices so that at least three repetitive practice periods can be provided in clinical dental hygiene practices.

        노인치위생학 교육과정에 따른 교육효과 분석을 위한 예비연구

        Background: This study involved a geriatric oral care expert who developed the competencies of students in the Department of Dental Hygiene and conducted preliminary research to develop an effective curriculum. Methods: A questionnaire was conducted in the last week of class targeting students who took courses in geriatric dentistry, geriatric dental hygiene, and practice. In order to confirm the educational effect according to the differences in the geriatric dental hygiene curriculum, the differences in students’ achievement of major competencies, awareness of the geriatric dental hygiene process, class satisfaction, and ageism were analyzed. Results: Regarding major competency attainment, ‘communication competency’ was significantly higher in PBL education that combined theory and practice than that theory-oriented PBL education (p=0.038). For ageism, the tendency to avoid older adults was low in PBL education, which combined theory and practice, and was statistically significant (p=0.040). For class satisfaction, the rate of responding ‘very high’ for the ‘class atmosphere’ was significantly high (p=0.025) for PBL education that combined theory and practice. Conclusion: The PBL teaching method can be useful as a geriatric dental hygiene curriculum. However, it would be more effective to create a curriculum so that education in geriatric dental hygiene care practice can be combined with theory rather than a theoretical education alone.

        PBL기반의 치과의료커뮤니케이션 교육과정을 통한 일부 치위생학과 학생들의 치위생 의사소통 역량수준 평가에 대한 사례연구

        Background: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate changes in the communication capabilities of dental hygiene students after completing a problem based learning (PBL) dental communication curriculum. With this information, we intend to gather the basic data necessary to stress the need for and value of an education in communication regarding dental hygiene. Methods: PBL-based education was provided to a total of 49 third-year dental hygiene students who took the dental communication class taught by the Department of Dental Hygiene at S University during the 2<sup>nd</sup> semester of 2020. The relevant self-evaluation was modified, based on the aim of the present study, to refer to three basic key competencies related to the communication capabilities of dental hygienists. An assessment of dental communication competency was conducted by analyzing the changes in self-evaluations before and after completing the course, for each question, using a paired t-test. The statistical significance level was set at p < 0.05. Results: Analysis of core competencies before and after PBL-based dental communication education indicated that all competencies were significantly improved after education (p < 0.01). Conclusion: Dental hygiene students' dental communication skills increased significantly after completing PBL-based dental communication education. Therefore, a PBL-based dental communication curriculum is effective in improving dental communication skills for dental hygiene students.

        일부 보건계열 학생들의 VR 학습매체 활용 인식에 대한 연구

        Background: This study was aimed at surveying the health science students’ interest, demand, and awareness of virtual reality (VR) devices for learning to accumulate data necessary to develop and implement a curriculum with VR devices. Methods: We investigated the perception of health science students regarding VR device application and utilization. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS 25.0 (IBM SPSS Statistics). Frequency and descriptive analyses were performed for the perception level of VR device use for university education. An independent twosamples t-test was performed to statistically analyze the perception level according to the VR device experience. A p-value < 0.05 was set to indicate statistical significance. Results: To the question “Do you wish to use VR devices for educational purposes?,” 73% of the participants answered “yes.” To the question “Do you think VR is necessary for the course curriculum?,” over 65% answered “yes.” Conclusion: In this study, health science students reported a great need for VR devices for education. VR-based classroom curriculum is expected to improve students’ concentration, interest, and motivation.

        창의융합인재 양성을 위한 일부 대학생의 창의융합역량 수준 분석

        This study obtained basic data for developing human resources with creativity convergence competency by surveying and analyzing the level of creativity convergence competency of university students. The study was conducted from October 1, 2019 to November 10, 2019 on university students attending the departments of computer science, pharmaceutical engineering, physical therapy and dental hygiene. The data from 296 students was finally used for this study, and IBM SPSS/Win statics 23.0 programs were used to analyze the data. Students who graduated from Seoul/Gyeonggi High School or those students with high undergraduate satisfaction were found to have high creativity convergence ability, and these results were statistically significant. Further, the group of students who had experience with Campus/Suburban competition, Global Competency training/ International exchange programs or the Capstone Design/Team Based Project showed high creativity convergence competency, and these results were statistically significant. Thus, this study identified the necessity of developing and operating various extra-curricular programs at education institutes in order to enhance students' creativity convergence capability. 본 연구는 일개 대학교에 재학 중인 학생들의 창의융합역량 수준을 분석하여 창의융합역량을 갖춘 인재 양성을 위한 기초자료를 마련하고자 진행되었다. 본 연구는 2018년 10월 1일부터 11월 10일까지 물리치료학과, 치위생학과, 제약공학과, 컴퓨터공학과에 재학 중인 1학년과 4학년을 대상으로 자기기입식설문을 진행하였다. 총 296명의 자료를 분석에 이용 하였으며 IBM SPSS/Win statistics 23.0 program을 사용하였다. 분석결과, 일반적 특성인 졸업 고등학교 지역이 수도권인 경우와 학과만족도가 높은 경우 창의융합역량이 높게 나타났으며 통계적으로 유의한 결과를 보였다(p<0.05). 또한, 비교과프로그램인 교내/외 경진대회, 글로벌 직무역량교육/해외연수 프로그램, 캡스톤디자인 및 팀 프로젝트 기반수업을 경험한 경우에서 통계적으로 유의미하게 높은 창의융합역량 수준을 확인할 수 있었다(p<0.05). 이에 창의융합역량을 증진 시킬 수 있는 대학 차원의 다양한 비교과목의 개발 및 운영이 이루어져야 할 필요성을 확인하였다. 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 창의융합역량 수준의 차이를 보인 다양한 변인을 확인함으로써 체계적인 교육을 통한 학생들의 창의융합역량 확장을 도모하고 새로운 가치를 창출할 수 있는 인재를 양성하기 위한 구체적 방안을 마련해야 할 것이다.

        일부 치위생학과 캡스톤 디자인 기반의 임상치위생학 수업 경험에 관한 질적 연구 : 성찰일지 분석을 중심으로

        Background: In this study, the Capstone Design was applied to the clinical dental hygiene course of the Department of Dental Hygiene, and its effect was confirmed by qualitatively evaluating the students’ reflection on the capstone design class experience. Methods: This study was conducted for the “Clinical Dental Hygiene and Practice Ⅲ” course, in which third year students develop the ability to judge and plan dental hygiene based on problem-solving ability and critical thinking. By applying the Capstone Design within the core curriculum of the class, the students analyzed problems based on their major knowledge of dental hygiene in order to improve their ability to manipulate periodontal instruments, and focusedon the process of developing the contents of periodontal instruments by using them. Results: The application of Capstone Design on clinical dental hygiene and practice Ⅲ classes increased students' active class participation, and through the problem-solving process, students' learning and confidence improved. Conclusion: The Capstone Design can be viewed as a teaching method that promotes the participation of students in the dental hygiene department and can effectively help their learning and confidence through a problem-solving process.

        일부 치과위생사의 대학졸업연한 차이에 따른 희망진로와 현 근무처와의 일치도 및 직업 만족도 조사

        Objectives : Five years have passed since the departments of dental hygiene with four-year term released their graduates. It is necessary to investigate concordance between desired career and current job and job satisfaction in dental hygienists according to graduation term. Accordingly, a survey on concordance between desired career and current job and job satisfaction in dental hygienists according to graduation term was conducted to obtain a basis necessary for providing right job consciousness to students of departments of dental hygiene. Methods : Of departments of dental hygiene nationwide, a total of four departments consisting of two departments with 3-year term and two departments with 4-year term were randomly selected. Of 683 graduates for 2006-10 of the selected departments, 163 graduates who agreed to participate in this study through telephone and e-mail were chosen as subjects. The data of 159 graduates were analyzed except for 4 graduates who did not respond to job satisfaction. The questionnaire consisted of a total of 17 questions: 5 general questions such as graduation term, and current job and salary, 2 questions for desired career at the time of entrance and graduation, and 10 questions for the satisfaction of current job and working environments. Concordance between the desired career at the time of entrance and graduation and current job was calculated using Kappa-value. A cross analysis was conducted to investigate job satisfaction according to general features and graduation term. A statistical significance was examined using $X^2$-test (p<0.05). Results : The Kappa-value for concordance between the desired career at the time of graduation and the current job was 0.288, showing slightly low concordance. In particular, the Kappa-value was 0.089 in the graduates of departments of dental hygiene with 3-year term, which showed significantly low concordance. The job satisfaction of the graduates was 49.1%, which was higher in the graduates with 4-year term than in the graduates with 3-year term, but was statistically insignificant (p>0.05). The detailed job satisfaction was all higher in the graduates with 4-year term than in the graduates with 3-year term except for distance to a working place, but a statistical significance was only found in working place recognition and regional status (p<0.05 ). Conclusions : This study showed differences in concordance between desired career and current job and job satisfaction between the graduates of departments of dental hygiene with 3-year term and the graduates of departments of dental hygiene with 4-year term. Therefore, the curriculum of department of dental hygiene is required to be more specifically applied in accordance with graduation term. In addition, a further study is required to develop specialized curriculums in accordance with graduation term.

        노인 주·야간보호기관 종사자의 구강관련 인식 및 구강기능재활운동 프로그램 수요도 조사

        Objectives: This study aimed to identify the operation status of dementia and oral care programs in day and night care centers across the country, degree of awareness of care workers, and demand for oral functional rehabilitation exercise (OFRE) programs. Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted targeting day and night care center workers regarding their general characteristics, awareness of dementia, the oral cavity, necessity of OFRE, and awareness of program utilization. Results: The perceptions of dementia and oral health among workers and the demand for OFRE education were confirmed. Conclusions: Developing and applying continuous worker education and OFRE programs to improve the oral health of the older adults in day and night care centers.
