Vol.236 No.-
Vol.17 No.8
In various cultures and civilizations, artists are trying new ideas of reinterpreting the beauty of classic and redefining it in the ways of modern times rather than creating something new. In other words, modern cultural trend is creating a new culture by combining sensibilities of classic amid the flood of information with modern senses of artists. This study tries to combine various cultures an designs in accordance with this cultural change. Based on the features of expressing emotions of individuals and the world of impossible experiences from the short story 'When Buckwheat Flowers Bloom' of Lee Hyoseok, an incomplete area of consciousness which is at the border line of the polarized world divided by existence and absence is the area which creates a new culture by arousing readers' imagination as a potential world of thought. In addition, based on language from the short story, a researcher tries to utilize symbolic and imaginal beauties inside of that language as a material of design, and formative analysis them with the composition of proper words for visualization.
Vol.52 No.5
Combining the perspectives from both historical geography and cultural geography, this study aims to examine the population and distribution of Korean immigrants onto the northern banks of Yalu River and Tumen River, and the role of environmental and cultural elements in the migration process between 1910 and 1931. Between 1910 and 1931, Korean immigrants were mainly concentrated on the northen bank of the Tumen River, that is North Gando, with a population far greater than the northern bank of the Yalu River, which corresponds mainly with Yanji county and Helong county. On the northern bank of the Yalu River, in the 1910s, Korean immigrants were mainly concentrated in the middle and upper reaches of the Yalu River and Hunjiang valley. In the 1920s, with the development of rice farming, settlement of Korean immigrants gradually expanded to the counties which lay in the valleys of Jilin province and the northwestern Fengtian province. Rice farming was the most important cultural element working in the process of Korean immigration during this period. In order to grow rice, Korean immigrants decided to settle down mainly in the low-lying areas including river basins. The development of rice cultivation further promoted the migration and settlement of Korean immigrants and changed the traditional agricultural landscape, which had been dominated by the dry farmlands. As Korean immigrants interacted more closely with local residents including Han nation in the rice cultivation, the culture that they had carried over from the Korean peninsula was further transferred and transplanted on the northen banks of the Tumen and Yalu Rivers and even beyond them.
