Effects of pretreatment and extraction conditions on total polyphenol yield from licorice root were investigated using statistical method. For pretreatment, heat treatment at $121^{\circ}C$ for 10 min was applied. Licorice root content in solvent (10, 20, and 30%) ethanol concentration (20, 40, and 60%) and reaction time (1, 2, and 3 h) were used as variables for extraction conditions. Two experiments, with heat treated and no treated licorice, were prepared with same experimental design. Box behnken design was employed and produced a total of 15 trials. Total polyphenol yield from licorice root was not affected by heat treatment. Among variables, licorice content in solvent showed most significant effect regardless of other variables (p<0.05). Finally, optimum conditions for the extraction of total polyphenol from licorice root was detected as following: 10% of licorice in solvent, 52% ethanol as solvent, 2 h of reaction time and non-heat treatment and the extraction yield from optimized condition was 17.6 mg/g licorice root.
인간 구강 편평 상피암 세포에서 Sp1단백질의 조절을 통한 Mithramycin A의 세포 사멸효과

Mithramycin A (Mith A), an older chemotherapy drug, has been studied as a potential therapeutic agent that may possess anti-tumor activity as well as apoptotic effect in several cancer patients. No related research has been done on the apoptotic effect of Mith A in HN22 and HSC4 oral squamous cancer cells using the specificity protein 1 (Sp1) protein. Hence, here we investigated whether Mith A can inhibit cell growth and regulate Sp1 target proteins by suppressing levels of Sp1 protein in HN22 and HSC4 cells. As a result, oral squamous cancer cell viability was reduced and apoptotic cell death was increased by Mith A. IC50 of Mith A for 48 h treatment in the HN22 and HSC4 cells were calculated to be approximately 25 and 26 nM. Mith A significantly suppressed Sp1 protein expression levels and modulated the expression level of the Sp1 regulatory protein such as p27, p21, cyclin D1, Mcl-1, and survivin in HN-22 and HSC-4 cells. Mith A also induced apoptotic signaling molecules, including: cleavages of Bid, caspase-3, and PARP, and upregulation of Bax in HN22 and HSC4 cells. In conclusion, our results strongly suggest that Mith A regulated proliferation and mediated apoptosis through inhibition of Sp1 in oral squamous cancer cells.

The purpose of this study are offer the basic of professioal sports activity and the approach to professioal sports through the survey and the analysis the differences in the students with the professionalization of sports. 1500 copies of the questionaire were distributed in the between March, 23 and 31, 1984. Among them 1320 sheets(88.0%) were resumed, but some sheets which made two or more answers at the choose one request were all removed, and then 1210 sheets were thurned into effect. To investigate an attitude of students' in Gun San National Uni and in Seoul (Chung And Uni, Korea Uni) about professionalization of sports. The results research on students attitude to the professionalization of sports as follows. 1. Most of the students activities percentage show limits of cultural activities and sports activities. 2. The interested professional sports of the college students were mainly covered with football and baseball. 3. The negative response were attributed to spending much money and material in the professional sports. 4. They are more interested to the sports than before none-professional sports. 5. It seems that the negative response which the professional sports was being practical in the area system. 6. The professional sports interests of college students are evaluated on the points of the mental and psychological effects, of stress clearly. 7. It seems that watching method about professional sports were mainly appeared by TV.
교합력 비대칭률과 중간 목갈비근 근육 두께의 비대칭률 상관관계

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the correlation between the asymmetric ratio of occlusal force of the temporomandibular joint and the thickness of the middle scalene muscle. Methods: The study measured the occlusal force of the right and left temporomandibular joints in 30 subjects (12 males and 18 females). Pearson's correlation analysis was performed to examine the effect of occlusal force on the asymmetric ratio of the thickness of their middle scalene muscles by measuring the force using ultrasound after the break. Results: The correlation between the asymmetric ratio of occlusal force and muscle thickness is 0.41, according to Pearson's correlation coefficient. Therefore, the result shows a moderate correlation with the asymmetric ratio of the temporomandibular joint depending on differences in the thickness of the middle scalene muscle. Conclusion: Based on the above results, the asymmetric ratio of occlusal force was found to correlate with the thickness of the middle scalene muscle. Thus, therapeutic intervention is required for the middle scalene muscle in the case of temporomandibular joint disorder.
