New Reference Generation for a Single-Phase Active Power Filter to Improve Steady State Performance

This paper proposes a new algorithm to generate a reference signal for an active power filter using a sliding-window FFT operation to improve the steady-state performance of the active power filter. In the proposed algorithm the sliding-window FFT operation is applied to the load current to generate the reference value for the compensating current. The magnitude and phaseangle for each order of harmonics are respectively averaged for 14 periods. Furthermore, the phase-angle delay for each order of harmonics passing through the controller is corrected in advance to improve the compensation performance. The steady-state and transient performance of the proposed algorithm was verified through computer simulations and experimental work with a hardware prototype. A single-phase active power filter with the proposed algorithm can offer a reduction in THD from 75% to 4% when it is applied to a non-linear load composed of a diode bridge and a RC circuit. The active power filter with the proposed reference generation method shows accurate harmonic compensation performance compared with previously developed methods,in which the THD of source current is higher than 5%.

Psychological support is necessary to enhance the occupational adaptability of workers with intellectual disabilities. The aim of this study is to analyse the changes in self-identity experienced by workers with intellectual disabilities through a therapeutic songwriting music therapy programme and to suggest therapeutic implications. A 12-session music therapy programme was conducted for four workers with intellectual disabilities, using Therapeutic songwriting techniques. The programme was divided into three phases: self-exploration, self-awareness, and self-integration. Techniques employed included Fill-in-the-blank, Song parody, Song collage, and Improvised song creation. The study participants experienced positive changes in their self-identity as a result of the therapeutic songwriting programme. These changes included an enhanced perception of their self-worth, taking ownership of their future, and setting concrete goals.
Operation Analysis of a Communication-Based DC Micro-Grid Using a Hardware Simulator

This paper describes the operation analysis results of a communication-based DC micro-grid using a hardware simulator developed in the lab. The developed hardware simulator is composed of distributed generation devices such as wind power,photovoltaic power and fuel cells, and energy storage devices such as super-capacitors and batteries. Whole system monitoring and control was implemented using a personal computer. The power management scheme was implemented in a main controller based on a TMS320F28335 chip. The main controller is connected with the local controller in each of the distributed generator and energy storage devices through the communication link based on a CAN or an IEC61850. The operation analysis results using the developed hardware simulator confirm the ability of the DC micro-grid to supply the electric power to end users.
DC Micro-Grid Operational Analysis with a Detailed Simulation Model for Distributed Generation

This paper describes the operational analysis results of a DC micro-grid using a detailed model of distributed generation. A detailed model of wind power generation, photo-voltaic generation and fuel cell generation was implemented with an userdefined model created with PSCAD/EMTDC software and coded in C-language. The operational analysis was carried out using PSCAD/EMTDC software, in which the power circuit is implemented by a built-in model and the controller is modeled by an user-defined model that is also coded in C-language. Various simulation results confirm that a DC micro-grid can operate without any problems in both the grid-tied mode and in the islanded mode. The operational analysis results confirm that the DC micro-grid makes it feasible to provide power to the load stably. It can also be utilized to develop an actual system design.

1978년 국내 최초의 원자력발전소인 고리 1호기가 상업운전을 시작한 이래로 원자력발전은 현재 우리나라 에너지 공급의 중추적 역할을 담당하고 있다. 하지만 일본의 후쿠시마 원자력발전소 사고를 계기로 원전의 위험성이 부각되고 있다. 원자력의 위험성에는 동의하지만, 우리 현실에서는 에너지원으로서 원자력발전은 불가피한 상황이다. 이러한 상황에서 가장 중요한 것은 원전의 안전성 확보이며, 이를 위해서는 안전기술수준을 향상시키고 안전기준을 제도적으로 완비해야 한다. 이 논문은 우리의 원자력 안전규제 법규가 원전의 안전을 제도적으로 뒷받침할 수 있는지를 검토하려는 목적에서 작성되었다. 이를 위해, 해외 원전 사고의 원인을 분석하여 유사한 사고가 우리나라에서 발생할 수 있는지와 발생할 경우 어떤 양상으로 전개되는지 살펴봄으로써 문제점을 발견하고 이에 대한 개선방안을 마련해 보고자 한다. 해외 사고 사례 검토 결과, 해외 사고의 기술적인 문제점들과 이에 대한 방지책들은 우리 법제에 충분히 반영되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 다만 예상범위를 뛰어넘는 설계기준 초과 사고에 대해서는 안전관리기술향상을 위한 계속적인 연구가 필요할 것이다. 그 밖에 개선이 필요한 부분을 찾아 본다면, 하위규범에의 위임이 과다하다 보니 법제가 체계적이지 못하고 규정내용이 불명확하여 중 대사고 관리지침서의 법규상 근거가 없다는 점과 원자력안전법 제114조와 제118조 제2호의 관계가 불명확하다는 점을 들 수 있다. 또한 규제법규 마련 과정에서 국민의 참여 부족 등의 이유로 사회적 수용성 확보가 미흡하다는 문제도 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해서는 안전규제 법규의 제・개정 과정에서의 민주적・절차적 정당성을 확보해야 하고, 이를 위해 그 과정에서의 국민 참여, 국민의 권리 침해의 소지가 큰 사안에 한해서는 국민의 대표인 국회의 관여 및 이에 대한 전제로서의 정보공개가 필요하다. 그 외 규범체계의 정비 및 규정의 명확화, 사고시의 대응조치에 대한 법규상 근거 마련, 그리고 원자력 안전규제 법령 제・개정시 사전배려의 원칙 고려를 제안하였다. 하지만, 원자력 안전에서는 물리적인 측면에서 얼마나 안전한가 하는 문제뿐만 아니라, 일반 국민이 얼마나 안전하게 느끼고 있느냐 하는 것도 중요하다. 원자력발전이 지속가능하기 위해서는 원자력의 필요성이나 비용, 위험관리 등의 면에서 사회적인 합의가 있어야 하기 때문이다. 결국 가장 시급한 것은 국민의 신뢰 확보인데, 위와 같은 기술적, 제도적 보완을 통해 원전에 대한 국민의 신뢰를 확보할 수 있을 것이다. 과거 사고가 발생했던 TMI 원전 인근 미들타운의 사례처럼, 우리나라도 원자력에 대한 부정적 인식을 해소하여 원전의 필요성에 대한 국민의 공감대를 얻을 수 있는 날이 오기를 기대해 본다. Since Kori Unit-1, the first nuclear plant began its commercial operation in 1978, nuclear power generation has been playing a central role in our nation's energy supply. However, Fukushima nuclear plant accident, Japan caused risk of the nuclear plant to be emphasized. Agreeable to the risk of the nuclear power, but nuclear generation is inevitable as the energy source in our reality. In this situation, the most important thing is to ensure safety of the nuclear plant. So, safety engineering level has to be improved with the full institutional equipment of the safety standard. This study intends to examine whether our regulatory legislation for nuclear power safety can provide institutional support for safety of the nuclear plant. Therefore, with the analysis of the causes of the overseas nuclear plant accidents, it aims at finding out problems and preparing measures through inspecting a possible occurrence of the similar accident and its developmental aspects if it occurs. As the result of examining the overseas accident cases, it shows that technical problems of such accidents and their preventive measures are contained sufficiently in our legislation. However, as for unexpected accidents exceeding design basis, continual research should be done for improvement of safety control technology. Other representative things to be improved may be said that mandating to subordinate regulation is excessive, legislation isn't systemic with unclear regulation contents and reflection of public opinion is unsatisfactory when preparing regulations. We can see them in the absence of Guide to Serious Accident Management and the relation between Article 114 and Article 118 of Nuclear Safety Act. To solve such problems, in enactment・ amendment of the risk regulatory legislation, democratic・procedural legitimacy should be ensured. So, intervention of the National Assembly, a representative of the people, is required for a case having a risk of the violation of the people's rights as well as participation of residents. And Disclosure of Information is also required as a premise of it. In addition, this study suggests improvement of the regulatory system, clarification of the regulation, preparation of the regulatory basis for accident measures and consideration for Precautionary Principle in enactment・ amendment of the risk regulatory legislation. However, in the safety of the nuclear power, it's also important how much the general people feel it safe as well as how much it's safe in the physical aspects. Because social agreement is required for sustainable nuclear generation with regard to its necessity, cost and risk management. In the end, the most urgent thing is ensuring trust of the people. And such trust may be ensured through the technical and institutional complement. As shown from the case of Middletown nearby TMI Nuclear Power Plant which an accident occurred, it's expected to get the sympathy of the people with the necessity of a nuclear power plant through removing negative cognitions of the nuclear power.

Home has significant meaning in the real world. In contrast, there's a lack of interest in homes in the Metaverse compared to other architectural spaces. This study aims to establish the concept of a home in the Metaverse based on meaning, typology, and characteristics of real-world homes. For this purpose, previous research and existing models of real- world homes were analyzed and case studies and a survey were conducted of homes in the Metaverse. As a result of the research, a model of home in the Metaverse is proposed based on physical, social, and personal models. Modifying one's dwelling, a refuge from the outside world, and self-expression/personalized space was also identified as the most significant characteristic of a home in the Metaverse. The results of this study will be helpful in future Metaverse virtual world research and development of Metaverse service platforms.
