지방대학 학생의 대학몰입 양태와 대학기관 예측요인 분석

Purpose: This research aimed to empirically identify the types of institutional commitment of local university students and their predictors in order to verify the investment and support for the student’s learning, which is the essence of education needed to be actively discussed at the local university level. Design/methodology/data/approach: This study analyzed the latent class according to the institutional commitment pattern and was conducted by using the 10th Korean Educational Longitudinal Study data from the Korean Educational Development Institute. Findings/Results: The study found that the types of institutional commitment of local university students showed various shapes according to their sense of belonging and satisfaction with college life, but the majority of students showed more interest in learning and career development during college life. Value: This study attempted to provide implications in practice in order to overcome the crisis that the local university has the shrinking school-age population and recruiting of students. 본 연구는 한국교육개발원의 한국교육종단조사 10차년도 데이터를 사용하여 지방대학 학생의 대학몰입 유형과 이에 영향을 미치는 예측요인들은 무엇인지 잠재계층분석과 다항로지스틱회귀분석을 통해 실증적으로 규명하고자 하였다. 대학몰입 양태에 따른 잠재집단을 분석한 결과, 총 6개 잠재집단이 추출되었으며 각각의 특징을 바탕으로 최저몰입형, 저몰입수업중심형, 학업교류형, 교우관계형, 개인학습형, 고몰입형으로 명명하였다. 둘째, 지방대학 학생의 대학몰입 양태에 따라 구분된 잠재집단에 영향을 미치는 예측 변인은 대학 풍토, 교수와 학생과의 교류 요인, 대학생활에서의 직업탐색 요인이었고, 각각의 요인이 준거 집단인 최저몰입형과 다른 잠재집단의 구분에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 지방대학 학생의 대학몰입 유형은 소속감 및 대학생활 만족도에 따라 다양한 모습을 보이지만, 대다수의 학생이 대학생활 중 수업 및 진로계발에 보다 많은 관심을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 결국, 지방대학이 학령인구 감소 및 학생 충원에 어려움을 가진 위기 상황을 극복하기 위해서는 교육의 본질인 수업에의 투자와 지원이 지방대학 수준에서 활발히 논의될 필요가 있음을 확인하였다.

대학원 융합전공 운영 참여경험에 대한 교수와 학생의 인식

This study analyzed professors and students’ perception on experience in convergence majors in order to implement effective convergence education at the graduate-level. Among the mixed research methods, this study selected an exploratory sequential mixed methods design model. The professors and students who had experienced in convergence majors were selected for this study. Qualitative research was first conducted to develop survey tools. Based on the results of the literature research, the researcher interviewed 3 professors and 3 students who participated in convergence majors from the beginning. Subsequently, quantitative research was conducted based on the results of qualitative research. Quantitative research was analyzed by the response results of 31 professors and 38 students who had experience participating in convergence majors. This study analyzed the current status of convergence education at the graduate-level and conducted research on professors and students’ perception. The results of the study were summarized as an analysis of perceptions related to understanding and necessity of convergence education and the current status of the requirements for convergence education improvement and operation direction. These results provided implications for exploring the possibility of effective operation and finding ways to develop convergence education. 본 연구는 대학원 수준에서 실효성 있는 융합교육을 실행하기 위해 사례대학의 융합전공 운영 현황 전반을 고찰하고 현재 융합전공에 참여하고 있는 교수와 학생의 인식을 연구하고자 하였다. 혼합연구방법의 설계모형 중에서 탐색적 순차설계 모형을 활용하여 질적 연구를 먼저 수행하고 그 결과를 반영하여 양적 연구를 진행하였다. 질적 연구는 융합전공 운영에 참여한 경험이 있는 사례대학 교수 3명과 학생 3명을 대상으로 선정하여 면담을 진행하였으며, 기초자료 조사 결과를 바탕으로 인터뷰와 설문조사가 진행되었다. 양적 연구는 설문조사를 통해 융합전공에 참여경험이 있는 교수 31명과 학생 38명의 응답 결과를 확보하여 분석하였다. 연구결과는 교수와 학생의 융합교육 이해도와 필요도와 관련한 인식과 융합교육 개선 요구사항과 운영 방향에 대한 현황 파악을 중심으로 정리하였다. 본 연구는 대학원 수준의 융합교육 현황을 고찰하고 융합전공 운영에 참여한 경험이 있는 교수와 학생을 대상으로 연구를 진행하였다는 점에서 융합교육의 효과적인 운영 가능성 탐색 및 발전방안 모색에 시사점을 제공한다.
