구강위생용품 관련 교육이 구강위생용품 사용에 미치는 영향

        이경희,은서,Lee, Kyeong-Hee,Jung, Eun-Seo 한국디지털정책학회 2015 디지털융복합연구 Vol.13 No.2

In this study, to provide the implications of dental health care training direction in the future after researching the effect on the use of dental hygiene devices, data were collected from 320 patients who visited dental clinics located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do for about 6 months between December 2013 and May 2014. Among them, the following results were obtained by analyzing 299 copies accounting for 93.4% of the collected data after excluding 21 copies lacking in answer. It was shown that education about dental hygiene devices had statistically significant effects on the dependent variables, perception of dental hygiene devices (p<0.001). Based upon the results above, it is considered that for the sake of prevention of oral diseases, more opportunities to learn correct knowledge and usage of suitable dental hygiene devices for individual oral conditions should be provided for patients, and active patient education as well as the development, implementation and publicity of systematic and popular oral health education programs will contribute to improved oral health.

Proposal for dementia-related curriculum development for dental hygiene degree programs in Korea

        이경희,최윤영,은서 한국치위생학회 2019 한국치위생학회지 Vol.19 No.6

Objectives: The objective of this study was to examine the current state of dementia-related education for dental hygiene degree programs in Korea, as well as to develop a dementia-related curriculum for dental hygiene programs suitable for the social characteristics of Korea. Methods: The study was conducted between April and November 2018. First, the current state of dementia-related education for dental hygiene programs in colleges throughout Korea and dementia-related education for other health care-related fields were investigated. Based on the initial findings, the basic content of the preliminary curriculum was constructed. Second, based on the opinion of the dementia-related curriculum development committee comprising 10 professors of dental hygiene, the operations of dementia-related courses and relevant details were constructed. Third, these operations and relevant details were assessed and revised based on focus-group interviews. Fourth, the dementia-related curriculum was developed based on the study findings and literature review. Results: The name of the course in the developed curriculum was set as “Elderly Dental Hygiene and Practicum.” The course was established as a “major elective,” and was offered as two units with two instructional sessions of two hours each. The learning goal for this course was acquiring the methods for understanding and managing the characteristics of the elderly. A consensus was reached regarding conducting the theoretical and practical lessons on some of the dementia-related content. The dementia-related curriculum comprised 10 “required contents” which is to be conducted over three weeks of theoretical lessons and two weeks of practical lessons. Conclusions: With the growing elderly population, the development and operation of the curriculum for geriatric oral health interventions are warranted in dental hygiene education. However, continued discussions and improvements are needed on the extent of educational content, considering various dementia-related symptoms and general geriatric systemic diseases.

Objectives: This study investigated the perception on the effects of malocclusion on employment, and aimed to provide information to those who are seeking employment. Methods: The study examined 306 subjects aged 19 to 39 in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do during the month of December, 2016. The data obtained were analyzed using frequency analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, chi-square test and multiple regression analysis among others. Results: The most important factors in job success were education (35.9%), followed by appearance (23.8%), and major (22.1%). On whether there is a correlation between social life and malocclusion, 49.0% and 51.0% of the subjects answered 'Yes' and 'No', respectively. When the factors influencing the perception of the effects of malocclusion on employment were reviewed, it was found that for female(p<0.01) subjects, the perceived effect of malocclusion on life and on employment (p<.001), and the perceived effect of malocclusion on employment were lower in 20-24 year olds and 25-29 year - olds (p<0.01). Conclusions: Many people believe that malocclusion affects employment and that it is necessary to provide information on orthodontic treatment to those who are preparing for employment and ordinary. However, it is important to provide correct information about orthodontic treatments, including functional improvement, rather than simply focusing too much on aesthetic effects alone.

        이경희,최윤영,은서 한국치위생학회 2019 한국치위생학회지 Vol.19 No.1

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to contribute to the development of an oral hygiene care program for patients with dementia by understanding the oral care status and oral health knowledge of care workers and caregivers with regard to patients with dementia. Methods: For about two months from May to June 2018, a survey of care workers and caregivers working in long-term nursing homes and elderly-specialized nursing hospitals was performed, and 442 people were selected for the final analysis. The frequency and percentage were calculated to understand the oral care status and oral health knowledge regarding patients with dementia, and an independent t-test was conducted to determine the difference between the elderly oral health knowledge of care workers and caregivers. Multiple regression analysis was also carried out to examine factors affecting elderly oral health knowledge. Results: With respect to the factor of oral health education in elderly oral health knowledge, oral health knowledge was shown to be highest when participants responded that education was unnecessary ( p <0.001), and regarding the will to participate in oral health education, oral health knowledge was highest when participants responded as having no desire to participate ( p <0.05). Conclusions: These results suggest that a standard manual should be developed for the accurate and qualitative management of oral hygiene care tasks performed by care workers and caregivers who are in charge of oral care for patients with dementia in order to provide continuous and systematic oral care.
