Vol.32 No.1
Listeria monocytogenes antigens were detected with the avidinbiotinperoxidase complex(ABPC) method in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues from experimentally infected rats, mice and guinea pigs. The anti-Lirteria monocytogenes serum used as first antibody was prepared by immunizing rabbits with Listeria monocytogenes serotype 1/2a. Rats, mice and guinea pigs that had been given inoculation of L monocytogenes(serotype 4b, Scott A strain) via intraperitoneally allotted to 3 groups. Rats were pretreated with the dexamethasone(DM-rats) for 7 consecutive days, mice and guinea pigs were inoculated intraperitoneally with L. monocytogenes At necropsy white necrotic foci of the liver, spleen and kidney were seen in mice and DM-rats, whereas not in guinea pigs. Organisms stained by the ABPC method were identified as pleomorphic dark brown staining structures in the livers, spleens and kidneys of mice and DM-rats. They were present in high numbers in center and peripherial regions of necrobiotic and necrotic foci of the liver and spleen as well as in glomerulus of the renal cortex. and liable tool for confirmative diagnosis of these bacterial diseases.
How far can African swine fever spread?
서정향 대한수의학회 2019 Journal of Veterinary Science Vol.20 No.4
African Swine Fever (ASF) is a highly contagious and deadly viral disease affecting both domestic pig and wild boar populations. Once introduced, it is a terrible disease that can devastate the swine industry in many countries. ASF has spread most recently beyond China to Southeast Asia, and parts of the Korean Peninsula. The majority of Asian countries consume pork as the primary source of meat compared to all other meat products. Particular emphasis is on the spread of ASF within North Korea and on future perspectives including protective guidelines. Thus far, the Korean peninsula has endured an extensive history of diseases, most notably from foot and mouth disease. For this reason, the Korean swine industries are familiar with the detrimental impacts of such a disease. On the other hand, exposure to a disease like ASF will decimate the swine industry even further. Therefore, it is crucial to bring urgent awareness to the spread of ASF.

A study was conducted to determine the susceptibility of swine to Korean foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV; subtype O, isolated from Chungju province) in April, 2ooo. One holstein cow was inoculated intradermolingually with suspension of homogenized tissue from a Korean native cow naturally infected with Korean FMDY. Infected cow was housed with one susceptible cow and one susceptible pig (contact sentinels). Four additional susceptible pigs were housed in the same room but caged separately (non-contacted sentinels). The contacted pig and cow as well as non-contact pigs developed typical clinical signs after 2, 3, and 7 days post exposure, respectively. We compared neutralizing antibody from the animals to FMDV $O_1$ Lombardy, O Taiwan, $O_1$ Campos, and $O_1$ Manisa after 0, 4, 7, 10, 14, 21, 28 days post challenge and post-exposure. The highest viral neutralization titer could be interpreted that serotype O Korea (Chungju isolate) is antigenically more related to $O_1$ Manisa. In addition, immunohistochemistry was used to further characterize Korean FMDV from tissues of infected pigs. Korean FMDV antigen was observed in the tongue, hoof, esophagus, and tonsil tissues of sentinel pigs. These findings suggest that Korean FMD virus isolated from cattle can be rapidly transmitted to pigs both directly and indirectly contrast field observation in which only cattle were clinically ill.

Tofu and soybean sprouts are principle food consumed in Korea, and recent demand for them has increased because of renewed interest in functional foods. From 2006 to 2011, tofu sales have increased from 342.4 billion won to 498.9 billion won, and packaged tofu sales is estimated to be occupied more than 65% of that sales, Also soybean sprout market size as packaged product is increasing. The increase of packaged tofu and sproul sales may be caused by many factors related to economic growth, social change, and rapid advancement of food processing industries. This paper review the case of commercialized tofu and sprout using domestic soybeans. Packaged tofu and sprout production companies prefer using domestic soybean, and Consumers are recognized as high quality of tofu and sprout made from domestic soybeans.
Primary Renal Hemangiosarcoma Complicated with Hematuria and Hemoperitoneum in a Dog
여정진,서정향,엄기동,박희명 한국임상수의학회 2012 한국임상수의학회지 Vol.29 No.2
A 14-year-old intact male Siberian Husky was presented with hematuria, lethargy, and anorexia of 1-month duration. The physical examination revealed mild abdominal distension and pain. The hematology and serum chemistry revealed anemia and severe azotemia. The radiographic examination revealed renomegaly and the ultrasonographic examination, indistinct cortico-medullary junction, increased renal cortex echogenicity, and irregular margination. The urinalysis showed proteinuria and hematuria. The differential diagnosis included renal failure, cystitis, pyelonephritis, and neoplasia. The patient's condition continued to deteriorate, and the dog eventually died. The gross findings from the necropsy revealed hemoperitoneum and a bilateral renal mass. HSA was diagnosed by histopathological examination. This case report describes primary bilateral renal hemangiosarcoma (HSA), which is uncommon in dogs.
