Injury Analysis of a 12-passenger Van Rollover Accident

The fatality of rollover accidents in motor vehicle crashes is high despite their low incidence. Through the investigation of a 12-passenger van rollover accident in which 10 passengers were involved, we intend to analyze the correlation between the severity of the injury and the position of the occupants. We collected accident information from medical records, interviews, photo-images of the damaged van, field surveys, and the results of the Korean New Car Assessment Program (KNCAP). Based on the occupants' position, we classified injury sites and estimated injury severity. Passenger injury severity was evaluated by trauma score calculation. The initiation type of the rollover accident was passenger side 'fall-over' and the Collision Deformation Classification (CDC) code for the damaged van was 00TDZO3. The crash of the van involved 10 passengers, with an average age of $16.3{\pm}4.2years$. Few of the occupants had fastened seat belts at the time of the incident, and there was no airbag installed. One patient sustained severe liver injury and another was diagnosed with a fracture of the right humerus. The most common injuries were at the upper extremities and the neck. The average of Injury Severity Score (ISS) was $4.8{\pm}5.9$, and the average ISS of right-seated, mid-seated and left-seated occupants was $7.5{\pm}9.3$, $1.5{\pm}0.7$, and $3.3{\pm}2.1$ respectively (p>0.05). In the rollover (to-passenger side) accident of occupant unfastened, the average ISS of right-seated occupants (near side) was higher, but there was no statistically significant difference.

Analysis of Link Error Effects in MANET Address Autoconfiguration Protocols

This paper focuses on message complexity performance analysis of mobile ad hoc network (MANET) address autoconfiguration protocols (AAPs) in reference to link errors generated by mobile wireless nodes. An enhancement was made using a proposed retransmission limit, S, to be computed for error recovery (based on the link error probability), to measure message complexity of AAPs in reference to the link error probability, Pe. The control procedures for the retransmission limit have been included for each of the AAPs. Retransmission limit control is critical for efficient energy consumption of MANET nodes operating on limited portable energy. O-notation has been applied to analyze the upper bound of the number of messages generated by a MANET group of nodes. The AAPs investigated in this paper are strong duplicate address detection (DAD), weak DAD with proactive routing protocol (WDP), weak DAD with on-demand routing protocol (WDO), and MANETConf. Each AAP reacts different to link errors, as each AAP has different operational procedures. The required number of broadcasting, unicasting, relaying, and received messages of the nodes participating in a single-node joining procedure is investigated to asymptotically calculate the message complexity of each AAP. Computer simulation was conducted and the results have been analyzed to verify the theoretical message complexity bounds derived. The message complexity of WDP was lowest, closely followed byWDO, based on the simulation results and analysis of the message complexity under nominal situations. The message complexity of MANETConf was higher than WDO, and strong DAD resulted to be most complex among the four AAPs.

In the 140th history of russian koreans[Koryoin] deportation to central asia in 1937 is important turning point. Because most russian korean communities in present were founded by 2nd emigration of central asian Koreans from the middle of 1950ties. And their successful resettlement in central asian countries made possible emigration to russia of their next generations. Many visual materials on their successful resettlement were found in the Movie & Photo archives of Kazakhstan. These materials were made by Kazak State Film from 1940ties. From 1940-60ties these films were related with agricultural sector These materials show leading collective farms[Kolhoz or Sovhoz] which achieved excellent results and important figures of these korean collective farms. After 1960ties visual materials on famous ethnic korean figures in non agricultural sectors[e.g. industry, sports and cultural field] began to be produced . During last period of Soviet Union nationalism shocked and shattered socialisti community. Reflecting nationalistic mood of those days ethnic korean organizations established and ethno-nationalistic issues which had been strictly prohibited could be discussed. In the 1990 year documentary film on a korean family's life in soviet labor camp during the second World War made by ethnic korean movie director and producer in Kazakhstan. Leading figures of Kazakhstani Korean[Koryoin] active participated in activities of national organizations like ethnic korean news paper 'Lenin Kichi', ethnic korean theater, Weekly Korean Radio and Korean TV program 'Wu-ri-Min-Jok.' After deportation these organizations played important role to keep and deliver traditional culture of ethnic Koreans. And each organization cooperated each other For example many actors of korean theater, who can spoke korean fluently, actively joined in Korean Radio. Some directors of korean theater also produced Radio Program. Some Journalists of Lenin Kichi and Korean Radio were famous Writers, Directors and Translators of Korean Theater Many valuable broadcasting materials for koreans from middle of 1980ties to middle of 1995 disappeared in transitional period of Kazakhstan. And duplication of some of these materials which had made after 1995 under the control of Kazak National Broadcasting Company costs so expensive and is not so easy. These visual materials show characters of contemporary ethnic korean communities of Kazakhstan and can be clues to understand cultural changing of kazakhstani koreans. As the population is aging, the prevalence of presbycusis is increasing proportionally. The prevalence of tinnitus, which usually accompanies presbycusis, is also growing. Presbytinnitus,defined as tinnitus which accompanies presbycusis, not only influences the individual’s well-being and productivity but also causes communication problems, isolation, and social withdrawal. We now need to adopt more aggressive approaches to treating presbytinnitus in the elderly population, rather than giving them discouraging comments on the course of disease progression. Although the exact mechanisms of presbytinnitus have not been revealed and the specified therapeutic methods have not yet been established, an increasing number of studies using masking, retraining therapy, psychological therapy, and some medications have shown promising outcomes for the management of presbytinnitus. Therefore, appropriate treatment with multidisciplinary modalities should be provided for patients with presbytinnitus in order to reduce a growing social burden.
