        The aim of this study was to identify how the milieu language treatment program affects acquisition of vocabulary in children with delayed language. The experiment was conducted to 3 subjects for 40 minutes per session, 4 times a week. It consisted of 3 stages-baseline, treatment, and maintenance, and utilized an AB experimental design. Acquisition of receptive vocabulary and expressive vocabulary was evaluated through pre-test, post-test, and maintenance assessment and the results were as follows: First, the acquisition of receptive vocabulary was improved after treatment in all subjects. The subjects maintained newly acquired receptive vocabulary. Second, all subjects showed the improvement of their ability to acquire expressive vocabulary. In addition, they maintained the newly acquired vocabulary. In conclusion, the milieu language treatment program was effective in vocabulary acquisition in children with delayed language.

      • 스크립트를 통한 사회극화놀이가 정신지체아동의 언어이해력 및 표현력에 미치는 효과

        The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influential effect of teaching language to mentally retarded children through the use of sociodramatic play programs and to chart the improvement of receptive language and expressive language abilities. A multiple baseline design was used to evaluate training effects. Training was comprised of five sociodramatic plays: a transportation play, a doctor play, a department store play, a bank play, and a post office play. Each play included five steps: listening to stories, stage setting, role assigning, playing based on the script, and summarizing. Three mentally retarded school children were selected from special schools in Daegu for the purpose of this testing. The results obtained from the study are as follows: First: After the subjects learned sociodramatic play, all subjects showed improvement in their receptive language ability. Second: After the subjects learned sociodramatic play, all subjects showed improvement in their expressive language ability. Third: After the subjects learned sociodramatic play, all subjects showed improvement in their spontaneous utterances. Finally, After the subjects learned sociodramatic play, all subjects showed improvement in the generalization of their receptive and expressive language abilities through the use of the PLS standard test tool. In conclusion, teaching language to mentally retarded children through the use of sociodramatic playing was dramatically effective on improving their receptive language and expressive language abilities. I hope further investigation will be conducted on the subject of receptive and expressive language improvement for mentally retarded children.

      • 판토마임과 음성언어의 동시 자극법이 발달지체 아동의 언어능력 향상에 미치는 효과

        This study is intended for investigating the effects of simultaneous stimulation of pantomime and verbal language on the improvement of linguistic competence of 4 developmentally delayed children. The subjects are 20 - 28 months old who are developmentally retarded more than 1 year compared to normal children on PLS. This study utilized an A-B design with pre-test stage, treatment stage and post-test stage, and the change in (1) semantic relations of language, (2) mean length of utterance in morphemes and (3) communicative behaviors were analyzed by collecting twice the speech samples in unstructured play situation between pathologist and children in the stage of pre-test stage and post-test stage. The results showed the following: First, the rate of semantic relation of a word in expressive language was decreased in all subjects, and occurrence of two or three words was increased. Second, the mean length of utterance in morphemes in all the children increased. Third, the commencing communicative behavior showed in higher rate, non-liguistic behavior decreased with the increase of communicative behavior using language, and the accuracy of linguistic reaction out of the 'reaction to communication' became higher. In conclusion, the simultaneous stimulation using both the pantomime and the verbal language was effective in improving the linguistic competence.

        The purpose of this study is to investigate the most suitable way to improve their speech and meaningful right words with decreasing coining through the improving the monitoring for the Jargon aphasia. For this purpose, three subjects were selected who are showing the decreasing of words production and Jargon cause of stroke. The study method is divided into two sessions, first treatment and second treatment. The prompt monitoring and delay monitoring techniques were adopted for the treatment. This priming also provided each session. The design for this study is the prior and post test. The improvement of word production rate, generalization, the deduction of coining, the generalized language production. The assessments were conducted by the Taegu aphasia test, Boston naming test, and generalized valuation sheet which was designed by the author. The results obtained from the present study were as follows. First, All the subjects showed the improvement on their word productior. Second, They showed the effect of generalization. Third, They showed the deduction of their coining. Fourth, They showed the improvement on the generalized language ability.

      • 노래 부르기를 통한 읽기 중재가 브로카 실어증자의 언어회복에 미치는 효과

        The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of reading intervention through singing with lyrics on language recovery in Broca's aphasics. Their language performance was assessed by Daegu Diagnostic Test of aphasia and Korean version of the Boston Naming Test. The treatment took place for 50 min 3 times a week. The total number of treatment sessions was 30. The care-gives wives of the patients observed each treatment sessions in order to practice a home. The results were as follows: First, the treatment program improved the repetition skill. Second, the treatment program improved the naming performance. Thirdly, the treatment program improved the overall language performance. It is the result of continuous training effects after repetitive word reading following the naming performance. Therefore, these findings suggest that reading intervention through singing with lyrics used in this study was effective and can be used tool in broca's aphasics.

      • 찰흙활동을 통한 언어지도방법이 정신지체아의 어휘력과 소근육 발달에 미치는 효과

        This research is focusing at reviewing how language teaching method through the clay activity can make an effect on mentally retarded children's lexical ability and fine motor's development. The following research questions were formulated. 1) The language teaching method through the clay activity can make a developing role of increasing the lexical comprehension ability of mentally retarded children? 2) The language teaching method through the clay activity can lead to an advanced lexical expression ability of mentally retarded children? 3) The language teaching method through the clay activity can increase the fine motor of mentally retarded children? The subject were selected by 4 kinds of examination. They are KEDI-WPPSI I.Q. test, PLS, Fine motor's exercise ability test (from birth to 5 yesrs old, 1990 ) and finally social maturity test. This research was focused at 4 mentally retarded children and the test had been made three times a week for the last three months, It was made up for 30 sessions which takes 40 minutes long. This research's test step was involving pre-and-post test and had kept an eye on comparison the effect of pre-test and post test about lexical ability and fine motor's development. The test results from this research are as belows. 1) All the subject of the investigation were found out to be advanced in terms of lexical comprehension ability after applying for the language teaching method through the clay activity. 2) All the subject of the investigation were turned out to show the development of lexical expression ability after applying for the language teaching method through the clay activity, 3) All the subject of the investigation were improved in a way of fine motor's exercise after applying for the language teaching method through the clay activity. So we can consider that the language teaching method through the clay activity could be a positive way to mentally retarded children.
