다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

It's impossible to make Western people to understan Orientalism as actual Asian image of Orientalism can be find and learn though the anmation in Western movies.
In the other hand, if we look at the Orientalism though Asian's view, it's hard to take an objective view because of nationalism sentimetal.
Therefore the thesis shows that , in the time of hegemony of Western culture how it effected though Disney movies in the picture media. look at how it change though consideration, it can be a chance to rebuild a identity of Orientalism and Oriental culture show.
Though the caratocr in Hollywood animation which combine Oriental view and Western knowlege Western, they release the image of Chinese expression and meaning though <Mulan> and <Kung Fu Panda> When we look at the <Mulan> like existing Diseney animations, Like the center of American society which is White, Men, Cathoric ideology bourgeois They warp with Amerian familism and Puritanism athic.
They use a carater who is Chinese hero, express classic prestige and fresh motive using this carater to express innocent and healthy ending that usual Disney style fantasy, It escalated ideoloy’s penetration. They used other country’s culture or story to penetrated to their viewer about American style ideology and Disney Story.
One of Hollywood hero animation specialty is using Women hero. The heroism is the women hero’s journey of self discovery and disire. The self discovery is not only effected in women hero. The process of self discovery, it is an inevitable related from catching heroism. Women hero is different than men hero in society Because the women carater itself discribed as loser or wimp there for it is very important to find a self discovery for women hero. But the pictures developed without consideraton in Chinese’s culture and value show another Orientalism in Western.
Next is <Kung Fu Panda> when we look at this picture, it’s similar with other existing Hollywood Chinese caraters but they try to use as mush as using Chinese logos to express their detail at study and reserch in Chinese traditional culture. It doesn’t show they did with conscious but at least they’re very concern on the detail.
In the case of<Kung Fu Panda> shows Oriental’s identity throuh the Oriental kung fua and basic story and believe. Using animal carater as a human being was very Orientic, however Using panda’s eye color from black other than green was express misticism in the image of Oriental in Western image.
Though this research express positive hero image other than usual Chinese evil image or wired old man image they use kung fu to show that kung fu is very mysticism martial art. these movies effect the way Western people’s though of China culture of variety. Unfortunately it can’ t be change for the view of Oriental, such as mystery world and negativities from Western people to change of their fixed idea is not enough though few of these movies. It shows that the knowledge of China has been change though variety of movies.

본 논문에서는 애니메이션 뮬란 및 쿵푸 팬더에 나타난 오리엔탈리즘에 대한 다각적인 시각을 해석한다.

서양 사람은 동양 사람과 같은 시각으로 오리엔탈리즘에 대해서 인식시키는 것은 가능이 없다. 서양영화와 애니메이션에서 나타나는 오리엔탈리즘의 이미지를 통해 파악할 수 있다. 반면에 동양적인 시선으로 오리엔탈리즘을 살펴보면, 민족주의적인 정서를 가지고 있기 때문에 객관성도 많이 떨어지게 된다. 이에 본 논문은 서양 문화의 헤게모니가 새로운 시기에 디즈니영화를 중심으로 한 영상 미디어에서 어떻게 반영되고, 어떤 변화를 보이는지 고찰함으로써 오리엔탈리즘과 동양문화의 정체성을 재구축하는 기회가 될 것이라 생각된다.
이에 동양적 시선과 서양적 인식을 결합한 중국캐릭터 헐리우드 애니메이션에 나타난 이미지를 중심으로 대표적 작품인 <뮬란>과 <쿵푸팬더>를 중심으로 중국에 대한 이미지의 표현방식과 각 의미에 관하여 비교분석하였다.
이에 작품 <뮬란>을 살펴보면 기존의 디즈니 애니메이션처럼, 미국 사회의 주류인 백인, 부르주아, 남성, 기독교도들의 이데올로기를 미국식 가족주의와 청교도적 윤리라는 건전한 가치로 포장하였다. 철저한 미국 중심의 이데올로기를 중국의 영웅이 된 한 소녀라는 고전적 권위와 신선한 모티브에 실어 강변하고, 순수하고 건전한 모험의 행복한 결말이라는 디즈니식 환타지로 표현함으로써 이데올로기의 침투를 가속화시키고 있다. 다른 나라 문화의 우화나 전설을 미국적 이데올로기와 디즈니식 동화라는 형태로 향유자들에게 침투시키고 있는 것이다.
특히 할리우드 영웅 애니메이션의 특징 가운데 하나는 여성영웅 애니메이션의 특징이다. 여성영웅의 자아발견 욕망과 여성영웅들의 영웅성이다. 자아를 발견하는 것은 비단 여성영웅에게만 해당되는 것은 아니다. 자아발견의 과정은 영웅성의 획득에서 빼낼 수없을 만큼 필연적인 관계이다. 여성영웅은 사회적 존재로서의 위치가 남성과 다르기 때문에 여성이라는 존재자체가 약자나 박탈된 자아로 그려지고 있기 때문에 새로운 자아발견을 위한 의미 있는 기회가 될 수 있을 것이다. 하지만 디즈니식 이해는 중국인의 가치와 문화를 전혀 고려하지 못한 상태에서 제작된 작품들은 결국 또 다른 서양인들에게 동양의 오리엔탈리즘 보여주게 된다는 것이다.
다음으로 <쿵푸팬더>를 살펴보면 기존의 헐리우드 영상물에서 중국적인 요소가 적지 않게 등장하지만 대부분은 대충 중국 로고를 붙이는 수준을 넘어 헐리우드에서 보기 드물게 중국 전통 문화에 대해 세세한 연구와 이해를 하기 위한 노력이 엿보였다. 분명 통찰력 있는 반영이라고는 할 수 없지만 적어도 디테일을 처리하는 데에 심혈 기울인 것은 찾아볼 수 있다. <쿵푸팬더>의 경우 동양의 쿵푸와 쿵푸 영화의 기본 스토리 구조와 믿음에 대한 동양적 가치관이 반영되었으며 동양적 동물을 의인화시킨 동양적 성격이 짙은 영화라 할 수 있으나, <쿵푸팬더>에서 팬더의 눈을 검은 색이 아닌 녹색으로 표현한 것은 서양에서 인식하는 동양의 신비한 이미지를 그대로 반영하고 있다는 점이다.
본 연구에서 고찰한 영화들에 나오는 중국인에 대한 과거 악마 이미지, 이상한 노인 이미지, 쿵푸라는 신기한 무술을 하는 인물 등의 존재가 아닌 기존 영화에서 찾아 볼 수 없었던 긍정적 이미지의 영웅 이미지를 그려주고 있다. 이는 서양인들이 생각하던 중국에 대한 인식의 다양화가 영화로 반영되고 있음을 알 수 있다. 하지만 단 몇 편의 영화제작만으로 서양인들이 바라보는 동양에 대한 신비로운 세상과 부정적 오리엔탈리즘에 대한 인식을 변화시킬 수 없다는 점이다.
