        국가수준 식품소비 다양성 변화패턴 및 결정요인 분석

        While the significance of food consumption diversity has been widely recognized with increased demands, numerous studies on food consumption diversity have been conducted. However, there is still a lack of research to identify the changes and detailed factors of food consumption diversity. The purpose of this study is to analyze the international level of food consumption diversity index as an attempt to examine in-depth changes and identify the patterns and determinants. This study utilized the Entropy index decomposition analysis and panel regression model using the food balance sheet from Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Bank's international statistics. The results show that the diversity among the food groups (inter-food diversity index) and the diversity within the food groups (intra-food diversity index) both gradually increased worldwide, and their changes were correlated with income level, regional differences, and staple food. In addition, this study confirmed previously identified determinants of the food consumption diversity: income level, education level, women’s participation in economic activities, and urbanization rate. In particular, this study also confirmed the effect of the type of staple food and the degree of trade activation as the main determinants. This study provides more objective and in-depth results through analysis of the international level of food consumption diversity by detailed factors and the country group. This study is meaningful in that it provided the necessary implications not only for domestic food policy but also for agricultural development cooperation projects with developing countries that need to improve general nutrition and qualitative food security.

        한국의 식품 손실량 추정: 산업연관표를 사용하여

        Since 1990, In South Korea, the food losses which has increased with the development of food service industry has become a social problem. But first of all, that problem came from the dietary culture of Korean Peninsula. Then, h announced the estimation of the food losses in South Korea based on `Food Balance Sheet` which reflects food system comprehensively, using `Input-output Table` and documentation of Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan and United States Department of Agriculture. As for `Input-output Table` before, cost of raw materials of food service industry was not inserted. So I had made huge efforts to use `Revised Input-output Table` for appropriate section separately. After that, it was improved at `Input-output Table` in 2000, so I again estimated the food losses in South Korea using it and compared it to foresaid estimation using `Revised Input-output Table`. It was proved that there is not much difference between them.

        식품제조업의 한계기업 동향과 특징

        Social concerns in zombie firms is growing due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent economic downturn. We employed financial statement panel data of food manufacturers at the firm level and analyzed the trends and characteristics of zombie firms. If the interest coverage ratio is less than 1 for 3 consecutive years, it is classified as a zombie firm. Recently, the share of zombie firms has been increasing, albeit slightly, and as of 2021, 10 percents of the food manufacturers in the sample were identified as zombies. However, in the past 20 years, the proportion of firms that have become zombies has reached 35.3%. Zombie firms have a negative impact on the growth of the food manufacturing industry due to the congestion effect. In order to promote the revitalization of the food manufacturing industry, it is time to carefully select zombie firms and come up with measures to improve their constitution.

        한국인의 수산물 소비량 진단 : 수급 산정의 문제와 개선과제

        This study started from the recognition of the problem that the seafood consumption statistics in the current food balance sheet do not properly reflect the actual consumption level of seafood. Although the ‘Net food supply per capita per year’ amounts to 63.3kg as of 2022, the consumption is overestimated due to the inclusion of non-edible(feed) supplies, raising the issue that this also affects the estimation of the self-sufficiency rate of seafood. The purpose of this study is to diagnose the actual status and problems of calculating domestic seafood consumption and suggest improvement tasks. During the research process, various statistical analyzes and interview surveys were conducted, and Japanese cases were reviewed to derive implications. The main results are as follows. The raw feed used in fish farming amounts to 460,000tons, and the seaweed used in abalone farming amounts to 660,000tons. As a result of recalculating the net food supply per capita per year to reflect the demand for this feed, it was estimated at 45.8kg. The self-sufficiency rate for edible seafood after reflecting the demand for feed was calculated to be 65.6%, which was 6.8 percentage points lower than the overall self-sufficiency rate of 72.4%. Future improvement tasks are as follows. First, a fact-finding survey on the use of feed consumption is needed. Despite the large proportion of feed in the supply of seafood, the actual situation is not known at all stages from production to consumption. The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries must urgently promote regular fact-finding surveys and manage related databases. Second, it is necessary to establish a basis for calculating self-sufficiency rate in edible seafood. Lastly, the fisheries sector must have a foundation that can independently provide comprehensive supply and demand information on seafood.
