실험적 외상성 뇌손상모델에서 외상 후 저체온과 MgSO<sub>4</sub>의 효과

Objective : Traumatic brain injury including diffuse axonal injury has been shown to result in a decrease in brainfree magnesium concentration, an endogenous inhibitor of calcium entry into neuron, that is associated with the development of neurological motor deficits. The goal of this study is to establish the therapeutic window during which the therapy with $MgSO_4$ and/or hypothermia improve damaged neurons by TUNEL stain. Method : Moderate brain injury was induced in 64 adult Sprague-Dawley rats, weighing 350 to 450gm each, by using a simple weight-drop device(Marmarou model). The animals were randomly assigned to four groups(sixteen rats each, a control group, a group treated with $MgSO_4$, a group treated with hypothermia, and a group treated with $MgSO_4$ and hypothermia) and the rats in each group were sacrificed and studied after 12 hrs, 24 hrs, 1 wk, and 2 wks after insult. In hypothermic group, these rats were subjected to hypothermia after injury, with their rectal temperatures maintained at $32^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour. After 1-hour period of hypothermia, rewarming to normothermic level was accomplished over 30-minute period. In the groups treated $MgSO_4$, hypothermia and $MgSO_4$ were subsequently treated with $MgSO_4$($750{\mu}moles/kg$) infused intra-muscularly at 30 minutes after trauma. Result : In all treated groups, a significant reduction in TUNEL positive cells was found in comparison with the control group each time(p<0.001). Between treatment groups, No differnce was seen 12hrs, 24hrs, and 1wk. However, hypothermic group treated with or without $MgSO_4$ showed more significant reduction in apoptotic cells than group treated with $MgSO_4$ 2 weeks after trauma(p<0.05). However, hypothermic group treated with $MgSO_4$ showed no significant reduction in apoptotic cells compared with hypothermic group(p>0.05). Conclusion : These findings suggest that both hypothermia and $MgSO_4$ significantly improve pathological changes. Otherwise simultaneously $MgSO_4$ and hypothermia treatment groups is failed to provide additional neuroprotection. These results may be relevant to the design of future clinical trials of therapeutic hypothermia and $MgSO_4$ for traumatic brain injury.

This experiments was conducted to study on the substitute cotton wastes for ricestraw compost media on cultivation of Agaricus bisporus. This results were as follows. The results of yield according to the mixture rate of cotton wastes(4000~5500kg/198㎡), rice hull(4.5%), chicken manure(50%), gypsume(1.5%), urea(2%), tobacco powder((2.5%), seasame meal(5%) and MgSo4(5%) was effected to 57.2% increasement with 64.33kg in summer season, 65.21kg in winter season, 39.6kg in control, respectively. The results of yield according to the mixture rate of cotton wastes(4000~5500kg/198 ㎡), cotton hull(1.25%), rice hull(4.5%), chicken manure(50%), gypsume(1.5%), urea(2%), cigarette powder(2.5%), seasame dregs(5%) and MgSo4(5%) was effected to 62.3% increasement with 61.0kg in summer season, 62.3kg in winter season, 39.6kg in control, respectively. The results of yield according to the mixture rate of cotton wastes(2000~2500kg/198㎡), cotton hull((2000~2500kg / 198㎡), rice hull(2.5%), chicken manure(37.5%), gypsume(1.5%), urine(2%), cigarette powder((1.25%), seasame dregs(2.5%) and MgSo4(3%) was effected to 40.4% increasement with 57.33kg in summer season, 58.34kg in winter season, 39.6kg in control, respectively.
알루미늄 수화물 나노여과 막오염에 대한 공존염의 영향에 관한 연구

Nanofiltration was performed with polyaluminium chloride solutions at different pH conditions to understand effects of inorganic compounds on aluminum hydrolysis products, i.e., three distinctive groups of aluminum species: polymeric Al at low pH; Al(OH)_3 at neutral pH; and Al(OH)_4^ˉ at high pH. The PACl solution was prepared to be approximately 4.0 mM and adjusted to the designated pH. The influence of inorganic compounds on Al species fouling was investigated with 4.9 mM CaCl_2 and 3.5mM MgSO_4 because Ca^(2+), Mg^(2+), Cl-, SO_4^(2-) are the most common inorganics in the drinking water. NF membrane fouling was measured by flux decline rate. The impact of CaCl_2 was not significant on the individual Al hydrolysis products fouling. However, the flux decline rate was drastically changed in the presence of MgSO4. The concentration of particulate matters was considerably increased possibly due to interaction between Al species and SO_4^(2-) where MgSO_4 was introduced. The particulates were accumulated on the membrane and enhanced the hydraulic resistance of the cake layer. In addition, conductivity removal of the membrane was decreased when Al-hydroxide was dominant due to reduction of membrane surface charge. The rejection of Ca^(2+)and Mg^(2+) were considerably different, which implys that composition of inorganics paly a role on conductivity removal.

Perioperative hypomagnesemia is common in major surgical patients. MgSO4 infusion may be useful in the treatment of arrhythmia, asthma and postoperative shivering and in the prevention of hemodynamic stimulation associated with endotracheal intubation and surgery of pheochromocytoma. It may also enhance muscular relaxation and improve postoperative analgesia. It can be an ideal adjunct to propofol-remifentanil-based total intravenous anesthesia.

Wedelia trilobata (WT) has been used in folk medicine to alleviate several diseases such as cough, cold, fu, fever and infammation. The study was investigated to evaluate anti-diarrheal and CNS efect of ethanolic extract of W. trilobata in mice. Anti-diarrheal efect was evaluated using castor oil and MgSO4 induced diarrhea tests in mice. Gastrointestinal motility was measured using BaSO4. CNS efect was investigated using hole board, hole cross and elevated plus maze tests. Extract was used at dose of 1000 mg/kg and 2000 mg/kg body weight. Loperamide (10 mg/kg per oral) and diazepam (4 mg/kg) were used as standard drug. The crude extract exhibited signifcant anti-diarrheal efect in the total number of feces and episodes of diarrheal feces. Treatment with WT at both the doses, very highly reduced diarrhea signifcantly (p<0.001) in castor oil and MgSO4 induced diarrheal tests. WT at 1000 mg/kg and 2000 mg/kg reduced diarrheal stools by 71.25% (p<0.001) and 76.25% (p<0.001) in castor oil induced diarrhea. In the MgSO4 induced diarrhea, the extract reduced diarrhea by 62.79% (p<0.001) and 65.12% (p<0.001), respectively. WT at 2000 mg/kg inhibited GI motility very highly signifcantly (p<0.001). Standard drug, loperamide (10 mg/kg) had very highly signifcant (p<0.001) antidiarrheal efect. In the CNS, the extract resulted signifcant depressant efect (p<0.001) in hole board, hole cross and elevated plus maze test. WT extract possessed signifcant antidiarrheal and CNS depressant properties.

In this study, we found that the glucoraphanin (GR) content in broccoli seedlings decreased before first foliage leaf emergence. Methyl jasmonate (MeJA) treatment significantly increased the GR content in broccoli, with effects being consistent over the period of application. Unlike MeJA, abscisic acid (ABA) and salicylic acid (SA) led to slight GR accumulation within 24 h of the application. The feeding of a sulfur-containing compound, MgSO4, via the root of broccoli caused accumulation of GR within 24 h. Thus, both the germination time and the duration of sulfur fertilization and MeJA application are important to maximize GR content in broccoli.
