James Poling의 목회신학 방법론

This paper aims at critically analyzing James Poling’s pastoral theology which based on his theological works. Poling is a professor of pastoral care and counseling at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. According to Poling “Pastoral care is the ministry of the church that seeks healing and justice for individuals, families, and groups within their historical, social, and cultural context. Ministries of care involve listening and supporting persons as they articulate their suffering and hope. These ministries also include discerning judgments and prophetic action on behalf of those who are vulnerable. We live in a time when awareness of evil-child abuse, sexual violence, racial injustice, nuclear danger, world poverty, ecological destruction-is profound. Through courage, the whole church expresses care for all people, a care that comforts those who are damaged by evil, and a care that confronts the principalities and powers in the name of Jesus Christ.” Based on this theological definition of his own pastoral theology he articulates pastoral care as expression of the justice-love of the gospel in the world. In this paper I tried to introduce and analyze Poling’s theological framework as well as his biological data based on his recent three books, “The Abuse of Power,” which focuses on sexual violence in the family, “Deliver Us From Evil,” which thematizes gender and racial violence as a challenge to Christian theology, and “Render Unto God,” on pastoral care and economics. There is a important lesson to learn Poling’s pastoral theology: pastoral theology must be practical based on justice-love to its core. From his theological insight, I argue, pastoral care in Korean context must be justice practice rather than personal comfort in the church. Thus practical theologians in Korea are assigned the task of mediating between the problematic issues of social violence and practice of justice-love in the Gospel.

한국장로교회 초대 목사 한석진 목사(1868-1939)의생애와 사역

한국장로교회 선교는 1895년에 공식적으로 시작되었지만, 최초의 한국인 목사들이 배출된 것은 1907년에 이르러서이다. 흔히 한국장로교회최초의 일곱 목사라 불리는 이들이다. 본고에서는 첫 7인 목사 중 하나인한석진 목사의 생애, 사역 그리고 특징들에 대해서 개관해 보았다. II절에서는 한석진의, 성장 과정, 입신(入信) 과정, 초기 사역 과정 등을 개관해보았다. 그는 마포삼열 선교사에게 세례를 받은 후, 1893년부터 그의 조사(helper)로서 십수 년간 평양 지역에서 열정적으로 사역을 했고, 초기부터 그의 행보는 구습타파적이며 자립을 강조했다. III절에서는 그가 목사안수 받은 후부터 시작된 목회 사역 기간에 대해 살펴보았다. 그는 연속해서 몇몇 교회에서 목회를 했고, 노회와 총회 임원으로서 교회 정치에도깊이 참여해서 한국장로교회의 신앙표준, 예배모범 등을 정하는 일에도기여했고, 목회자들의 휴양을 위한 금강산 수양관 건축에도 큰 수고를 하였다. IV절에서는 그의 사역과 신앙의 특징들을 몇 가지로 정리해 보았다(“생명을 아끼지 않고 헌신한 신앙인이자 복음 전도자,” “혁신적이고 자립적인 목회자,” “한국인에 의한 한국 기독교를 세우고자 열망한 목회자,” “장로교 목회자로서 한석진 목사”). The official missions of the Korean Presbyterian Church began in 1895,but it was not until 1907 that the first Korean pastors were ordained,known as the first seven pastors of the Korean Presbyterian Church. This paper explores the life, ministry, and characteristics of one of thesepioneering pastors, Rev. Han Seok-jin. Section II provides an overviewof Han’s early stage of life, his journey to faith, and the developmentof his early ministry. After being baptized by missionary Samuel A. Moffett, Han passionately served in Pyongyang and its surroundingareas for over a decade as Moffett’s assistant from 1893. His ministry wasinnovative from the outset, emphasizing self-support and independencefor Korean Christians. Section III delves into Han’s pastoral ministryperiod, which began after his ordination in 1907. He served as a pastorin several churches, actively participated in church politics as a memberof the Synod and the General Assembly, and contributed significantly to establishing standards of faith and worship models for the KoreanPresbyterian Church. He also played a significant role in developingthe Mt. Geumgang Retreat Center for pastors’ recreation. Section IVsummarizes the key characteristics of Han’s ministry and faith as follows:his selfless dedication as a devout believer and evangelist; his innovativeand self-supportive pastoral approach; his aspiration to establish a KoreanChristianity led by Koreans; and his identity as a Presbyterian pastor.

한국교회 리더로서 대한예수교장로회(합동) 총회의 책임

On this 500th anniversary of the Reformation, The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Korea (HapDong) is in a position to sustain both reformed theology in general as well as the world’s largest Presbyterian denomination. In keeping with this theological tradition and the scale of its membership, there are three significant areas that the General Assembly must take responsibility over. First, it must take responsibility for keeping hold of the essential tenets of orthodox reformed theology. To that end, regular re-education of pastors is essential. Second, it must take responsibility in strengthening the Church’s essential mission of evangelization. To this end, a correct theology of church growth alongside a vigorous church planting movement needs to be established. Third, it must take responsibility for social service and social action, particularly in recognizing its public and historical responsibility. For this, pastoral ethics, including the ethical management of churches, and the public engagement of the church and of its members should be instructed.

기독교 대한 하나님의 성회의 설교에 관한 연구: 선교사들과 초기 한국인 목회자들을 중심으로

The Assemblies of God of Korea was founded in 1953 with the help of the Assemblies of God and has a history of 70 years as of 2023. The Assemblies of God of Korea has recorded the history and theology of the denomination for 70 years with various theology. However, theologically, ‘sermon’ is not historically investigated. From the founding of The Assemblies of God of Korea to the present, ‘sermons’ have played a central and central role in worship and evangelism. For this reason, I study two things in order to historically identify the preaching of the denomination through the literature. First, the sermons of the missionaries and founding members them formed the foundation of the sermon. Their sermons influenced the thought and theology of the full gospel, and at the same time provided an important foundation for the content, form, and delivery of sermons. Second, by studying the sermons of the early graduates of Full Gospel Theological Seminary who were directly affected by their sermons, what kind of ideology and theological influence they were influenced by, and what other unique characteristics are. Through this, the sermons of the Full Gospel church are historically identified. 기하성 교단은 1953년 미국 하나님의 성회의 도움으로 창립되어 2023년 현재까지 70년의 역사를 가지고 있으며, 다양한 신학을 가지고 교단의 역사와 신학을 기록하였다. 그러나 신학적으로 ‘설교’를 역사적으로 규명(糾明)하지 않고 있다. 기하성 창립부터 현재까지 예배나 복음전파에 있어서 핵심적이고 중심적 역할을 차지한 것이 ‘설교’이다. 필자는 이런 이유로 교단의 설교를 역사적으로 규명하기 위해 문헌 연구 방법을 통하여 두 가지를 연구한다. 첫째, 기하성 설교의 토대를 형성해준 선교사들과 기하성 창립 멤버들의 설교이다. 이들의 설교는 순복음의 사상과 신학의 영향을 주었으며, 동시에 설교의 내용과형식, 전달에 있어서도 중요한 기초를 제공한다. 둘째, 이들의 설교에 직접적으로 영향을 받은 순복음신학교 초기 졸업생들의 설교를 연구하여 어떠한 사상과신학적 영향을 받았는지, 다른 독특한 특징은 무엇이 있는지 연구한다. 이를 통해 기하성 교단의 설교를 역사적으로 규명(糾明)한다.

통일 한국 시대에 대비한 교육리더십 계발을 위한 기독교교육적 함의

본 논문은 통일 한국 시대를 이끌어갈 교육리더십을 계발함에 있어서 기독교교육적 관점에서 그 방향성과 목표를 제시하기 위한 기초연구이다. 오늘날 한국 사회는 한국전쟁 70주년을 맞이하면서 새롭게 전개되고 있는 한반도의 정세 속에서 한국교회가 지향해야 하는 새로운 교육리더십이 절실히 필요한 상황이다. 이러한 상황 속에서 그리스도인은 먼저 과거의 역사를 돌아보면서 반성하고, 오늘날의 현실을 객관적으로 살피면서 앞으로 나아갈 방향을 모색해야 할 것이다. 따라서 본 연구는 그동안 한국교회가 통일과 관련하여 어떠한 역할을 감당했는지 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 위하여 정부의 통일정책을 3단계로 구분하여 분석하고, 각각의 단계에서 나타나고 있는 한국교회의 통일대책을 기술하고자 한다. 다음으로, 한국교회와 교육계가 힘을 합쳐 앞으로 다가올 통일시대에 맞는 교육리더십을 계발하기 위한 2가지 접근방법을 살펴보고자 한다. 한 가지 방법은 정책 중심의 통일을 위한 교육행정리더십 계발 방안으로써, 올바른 통일의식을 고양하기 위한 교육프로그램과 더불어 통일시대를 위한 정책개발자 양성을 위한 교육프로그램을 소개하고자 한다. 다른 한 가지 방법은 사람 중심의 통일을 위한 교육목회리더십 계발 방안으로써, 탈북자들에 대한 인식의 전환과 더불어 탈북자들을 대상으로 한 선교신학적 토대와 전략, 그리고 교육학적인 교육과정의 특징을 소개하고자 한다. 이를 통해 다가올 통일 한국 시대를 이끌어갈 차세대 지도자가 갖춰야 할 핵심역량에 대한 연구 방향성을 제안하고자 한다. This paper is a basic research to present its direction and goal from the Christian educational point of view in developing educational leadership that will lead the era of unified Korea. Today, Korean society is in dire need of a new educational leadership that the Korean church should pursue amid the newly evolving situation on the Korean Peninsula as it marks the 70th anniversary of the Korean War. Under these circumstances, Christians should first reflect on their past history, objectively examine today's reality and seek a way forward. Therefore, the first part of this paper seeks to see what role the Korean church has played in relation to Korea government’s unification policy, analyzing the government's unification policy in three stages and describing the Korean church's unification mission strategies appearing at each stage. The second part of this paper looks at two approaches for the Korean church and the education community in order to develop educational leadership that is suitable for the coming unification era. One method is to develop the educational-administration leadership for policy-oriented unification of Korea, introducing educational programs to promote the right sense of unification as well as educational programs to foster policy developers for the unification era. The other method is to design the educational-pastoral leadership scheme for people-oriented unification of Korea, which would like to introduce the changing perception of North Korean defectors as well as the missionary theological foundation and strategy for North Korean defectors and the characteristics of the educational curriculum. Through this, this paper would like to propose a research direction on the core competencies that the next generation of leaders who will lead the era of unified Korea to come.

목회(기독교) 상담사의 협동조합 모델 실천 경험에 대한 목회신학적 성찰

이 연구는 목회돌봄이 교회를 넘어 공적 역할이 요구되는 시대에 출현한 협동조합 모델의 실천이 돌봄의 또 한 명의 주체인 상담사에게 이 경험이 어떤 의미를 지니고 있으며, 앞으로 이 모델을 위해 필요한 것이 무엇인지 살펴보고자 한다. 또한 목회신학적 성찰을 통해 한국 목회상담의 모델로서의 새로운 대안으로 자리매김할 수 있는 가능성을 찾아보고자 하는 시도이다. 성과 중심의 무한 경쟁 사회로 달리고 있던 신자유주의 체제의 시대는 사회적으로 불평등과 양극화의 심화 등의 한계가 대두되며 사회적이고 공평한 체제로의 전환을 위하여 세계는 사회적 경제를 주목하기 시작하였다. 사회적 경제는 자본보다 사람 중심을 강조하며 등장하였다. 삶의 질 증진, 빈곤, 소외 극복 등을 위해 협력과 호혜를 바탕으로 한다. 이러한 시점에 코로나19 팬데믹이 나타나면서 삶의 현장에서 연대와 민주적 상호 호혜의 가치는 더욱 중요한 사회적 가치로 강조되고 있다. 목회돌봄 또한 교회 내부에 머무는 것이 아니라 목회신학적 가치로 사회에 공적 역할에 대한 필요가 대두되고 있다. 그 대안으로 협동조합 모델이 시도되었다. 그리하여 목회상담가들이 각자 개인의 한 주체로서 협동조합에 참여하여 공적 역할의 실천을 기대하고, 그 실천을 행하고 있다. 그렇기에 연구자는 새로운 대안으로 등장한 협동조합 모델이 그동안의 실천 경험 속에서 각 주체로서 개인에게 어떠한 의미를 지니며, 협동조합의 철학과 운영이 실천 경험에서 어떤 의미를 지니는지 인터뷰 분석을 통하여 살펴본다. 이 연구를 통하여 신자유주의 체제에서 사회적 경제 체제로, 코로나19로 인하여 마음의 연대가 중요하게 대두되는 시대의 전환기에서 돌봄의 현장의 필요와 목회상담가들의 필요에 목회(기독교) 상담의 협동조합 모델이 응답하는 실제적인 대안이 되기를 기대한다. This study considers the practice of the cooperative model which emerged at a time when pastoral care was called to play a public role beyond the church. It also discusses the significance of this experiencer the counselors, another practitioner of care. Finally it looks at the requirements for this model in the future. Through pastoral and theological reflection, the study is also an attempt establish a new alternative for Korean pastoral counseling. In an era of neoliberalism, marked by a performance-centered society in endless competition, negative impacts of social inequality and deepening polarization are emerging. The world has begun to pay attention to the social economy in order to transition to a social and equitable system. The social economy has placed the emphasis on people over capital. It is based on cooperation and reciprocity towards the improvement of the quality of life and the overcoming of poverty and alienation. With the occurrence of COVID-19, the values of solidarity and democratic reciprocity are becoming ever more important social values in various walks of life. It is also becoming increasingly necessary for pastoral care to play a public role in society, with pastoral theological values. Thus, the cooperative model was introduced as an alternative approach. Pastoral counselors participate in the cooperative model as individual subjects and, embracing their public roles, put it into practice. By analyzing interviews, this study looks at the cooperative model and its significance for individuals as subjects in their practical experience, as well as the significance of the cooperatives’ philosophy and practical experience of operation. In an era shifting from the neoliberal system to the social economy, and in an era where solidarity of the mind becomes vital due to COVID-19, this study hopes to offer a practical alternative to the needs of caregivers and pastoral counselors through the cooperative model of pastoral (christian) counseling.

신학생 급감 시대에서 신학생 유치와 양성 방안에 대한 연구: 고려신학대학원 모델의 비판적 성찰을 중심으로

This article analyzes why the seminaries struggle to keep up with the current enrollment rates and addresses how to recruit seminary students effectively and train them appropriately. In order to search for an apt plan, Korea Theological Seminary is chosen as a case study and the article explores how this seminary has been recruiting new students and cultivating semi- narians and reflects the way it has been done in a reflective manner. Moreover, by making use of this case study, the article proposes a way forward for other seminaries. 본 논문은 신학생이 급감하는 현실 가운데 그 원인을 해석하고, 어떻게 하면 신학대학원이 신학생을 효과적으로 유치하면서 그들을 바르게 양성할 수 있 는지를 다룬다. 좋은 방안을 모색하기 위하여 특정 학교인 고려신학대학원 을사례로선택하여, 이학교가지금까지이행해온신학생유치활동및사 역자 양성 교육의 실제를 소개할 뿐 아니라 이를 비판적으로 재고한다. 나아 가 이를 통해 다른 신학교들이 선택하여 앞으로 나아가야 할 방안을 제안한 다. 특별히본논문은학생유치위원회, 선발방식및학위과정의다양화, 장학금신설및확충, 목사후보생양성전략, 노회및총회와의협력등을 다룬다.
