        Apparent digestibility coefficients of the extruded pellet diets containing various fish meals for olive flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus

        Apparent digestibility coefficients (ADCs) of dry matter, crude protein, crude lipid, energy, essential amino acids, and fatty acids in extruded pellets containing various fish meals were determined for olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus). Eight extruded pellet diets were prepared to contain different fish meals (herring fish meal, anchovy fish meal, mackerel fish meal, sardine fish meal-A, sardine fish meal-B, tuna fish meal, pollock fish meal-A, and pollock fish meal-B) designated as HM, AM, MM, SM-A, SM-B, TM, PM-A, and PM-B, respectively. Chromic oxide (Cr2O3) was used as an inert indicator at a concentration of 0.5 % in the diet. Feces were collected from triplicate groups of fish (151 ± 4.0 g) using a fecal collection column attached to the fish rearing tank for 4 weeks. Dry matter ADCs of the MM, SM-A, SM-B, and PM-A diets were higher than those of all the other dietary groups, and the lowest digestibility of dry matter was observed in the PM-B diet. Fish fed the MM, SM-A, and PM-A diets showed significantly higher ADC of protein than those fed the AM, SM-B, TM, and PM-B diets. Lipid ADC of PM-B was significantly lower than that of the other diets. Energy ADCs of fish fed the MM, SM-A, and PM-A diets were significantly higher than those of the other diets. The availability of essential amino acids in the MM, SM-A, and PM-A diets were generally higher than that of the other fish meal diets, while TM showed the lowest values among all the experimental diets. ADCs of fatty acids in the AM, MM, SM-A, and PM-A diets were generally higher than those of fatty acids in the other diets, and the lowest values were recorded for the PM-B diet. These results provide information on the bioavailability of nutrients and energy in various fish meals which can be used to properly formulate practical extruded feeds for olive flounder.

        잉어 사료에 있어 축산 가공 부산 혼합물의 어분 대체 가능성

        본 연구는 성장기 잉어 사료의 어분 대체사료원으로서 축산가공혼합부산물 (Animal by-product mixture. ABPM)의 이용 가능성과 어분단백질 대체 범위를 결정하고 잉어용 어분대체품개발의 기초자료를 제공하고자 실시되었다. 본 실험사료의 동물성 단백질원으로는 북양어분(White Fish Meal, WFM)과 수지박 (Leather Meal. LM). 육골분 (Meat&Bone Meal, MBM). 혈분 (Blood Meal, BM). 오징어내 장분 (Squid Liver Powder, SLP)의 혼합물인 축산가공부산혼합물 (Animal by-product mixture. ABPM)을 사용하였고. 식물성 단백질원으로는 대두박 (Soybean Meal, SM)과 콘글루텐밀 (Corn Gluten Meal, CGM)을 사용하였다. 모든 실험사료는 조단백질함량 $40\%$. 가용성 에너지 15.3 KJ/g (protein. carbohyd-rate and lipid; 16.7, 16.7 and 37.7 J/g)으로 동일하게 맞추었고 각 사료의 성분조성은 다음과 같이 요약된다. diet 1, $100\%$ WFM+$0\%$ ABPM ($0\%$ ABPM. control); dict 2, $75\%$ WFM+$25\%$ ABPM ($25\%$ ABPM); diet 3, $50\%$ WFM+$50\%$ ABPM ($50\%$ ABPM): diet 4, $25\%$ WFM+$75\%$ ABPM ($75\%$ ABPM), diet 5, $0\%$ WFM+$100\%$ ABPM ($100\%$ ABPM). 각 사료내 단백질원으로서, 동물성 단백질은 어분과 ABPM을 사용하여 총단백질의 $34.7\%$를, 식물성 단백질은 $65.3\%$를 공급하였다. 일주간의 먹이붙임후에 잉어는 각 실험군별 평균어체중 10g 되도록하여 3반복으로 무작위 배치하였고, 전반기 첫 번째와 두번째 4주간의 사육기간이 끝난 8주후에는 평균어체중이 28g 되도록 재배치하여 추가로 후반기 세번째 4주간 총 12주동안 사육하였다. 사료는 1일 3회 어체중의 $2.7\~4\%$로 12주간 공급하였다. 매 2주마다 체중을 측정하였고 전반기 8주, 12주후 체장, hemoglobin, hematocrit 및 일반성분 분석을 실시하였다. 전반기 첫 번째 4주후 증체율 및 사료전환효율은 유의적 차이가 없었으나 전반기 두번째 4주후 사료 3, 4 및 5는 사료 I (대조구)보다 유의적으로 낮았다 (P<0.05). 이와는 달리 후반기 세번째 4주후의 모든 사료구의 증체율 및 사료전환효율에는 유의적 차이가 없었다 (P>0.05). 또한, 전어체 일반성분 분석 결과 전$\cdot$후반기동안 모든 사료구의 일반성분치 (수분, 조단백, 조지방, 조회분)에는 유의적 차이가 없었다 (P>0.05). 본 실험 결과, 사료내 동물성 단백질원으로 ABPM은 충분한 먹이붙임 후에 어분단백질의 $100\%$까지 대체 가능함을 보여 주었다. This study evaluated the possible utilization and the replacing range of animal by-product mixture (ABPM) as a dietary fish meal replacer in growing common carp (Cyprinus carpio). ABPM is a mixture of leather meal, meat and bone meal, blood meal and squid liver powder at a specific weight based ratio. Five different diets were formulated on isonitrogenous and isocaloric basis of $40\%$ crude protein and 15.3 KJ/g diet in which white fish meal (WFM) protein was substituted with the ABPM Protein as follows: diet 1, $100\%$ WFM ($0\%$ ABPM, control); diet 2, $75\%$ WFM+$25\%$ ABPM ($25\%$ ABPM); diet $3,\;50\%$ WFM+$50\%$ ABPM ($50\%$ ABPM); diet 4 $25\%$ WFM+$75\%$ ABPM ($75\%$ ABPM); diet $5.0\%$ WFM+$100\%$ ABPM ($100\%$ ABPM). As the dietary protein sources, each diet contained $34.7\%$ of animal protein supplied by white fish meal and/or ABPM and $65.3\%$ of plant protein. After one week of conditioning period, fish averaging 10 g were randomly assigned to each diet treatment as triplicate groups and fed one of the experimental diets for 12 weeks. Weight gain of fish fed diet 1 (control) and 3 were significantly higher than those of fish fed diet 2, 4 and 5 during the first 4 weeks (P< 0.05), while there were no significant differences among all diet groups during the third 4 weeks (P>0.05). Feed conversion ratio of fish fed diet 1 was significantly higher than those fed diet 2, 3, 4 and 5 during the second 4 weeks (P<0.05), while there were no significant differences among all diet groups during the first and the third 4 weeks (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in proximate analysis among fish fed the experimental diets either for the second 4 weeks or the third 4 weeks (P>0.05). These results indicated that ABPM could be used as a fish meal replacer up to $100\%$ in growing common carp.

        어분 종류 및 소맥분 함량이 다른 배합사료가 넙치 (Paralichthys olivaceus)의 성장과 소화율에 미치는 영향

        A feeding trial was carried out to investigate the effect of different fish meal and wheat flour contents in extruded pellets on the growth and apparent nutrient digestibility of olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus. Four extruded pellets (HB1, HB1T, HB2 and HB2T) were prepared using two kinds of high quality brown fish meal and low quality tuna fish meal. Two diets (HB1 and HB2) contained two different kinds of brown fish meal, respectively; in HB1T and HB2T, we substituted 50% of the brown fish meal with 10% wheat flour. Three replicate groups of fish (initial body weight of 82 g) were fed the experimental pellets to visual satiation for 15 weeks. The highest weight gain was observed in fish fed HB1, and weight gain of fish fed HB2 was significantly higher than that of fish fed HB2T (P<0.05). Feeding efficiency for fish fed HB1 was significantly higher than that of fish fed HB1T and HB2T (P<0.05), but was not significantly different from fish fed HB2. Apparent dry matter digestibility in HB1 and HB2 was significantly higher than in HB1T and HB2T (P<0.05). The highest crude protein digestibility was observed in HB1, and protein digestibility in HB1T and HB2 was higher than in HB2T (P<0.05). The results of this study suggest that fish meal quality considerably affects growth and nutrient digestibility of olive flounder fed extruded pellets, and the use of HB1 is recommended over HB1T, HB2 and HB2T for efficient olive flounder production.

        Estimation of Ruminal Degradation and Intestinal Availability of Crude Protein in the Animal-Origin Feedstuffs Using Mobile Nylon Bag Technique

        Ruminal degradation characteristics and intestinal availability of crude protein (CP) in four animal-origin feeds (fish meal, meat meal, viscera meal, feather meal) were estimated by mobile nylon bag technique. Three ruminally and duodenally cannulated Holstein dairy cows (average body wt. 550kg) fed a diet containing 40% concentrate and 60% orchard grass hay on a dry matter (DM) basis. Assuming that the outflow rate of diet in rumen is 5% per hour (k =0.05), contents of quickly degradable CP (QDP), slowly degradable CP (SDP), and undegradable CP (UDP) in the rumen were 27.6%, 9.4%, 63.0% for fish meal, 34.3% 28.1%, 37,6% for meat meal, 43.9%, 12.5%, 43.6% for viscera meal, and 14.4%, 15.8%, 69.8% for feather meal, respectively. Intestinal CP degradability was 51.0% for fish meal, 27.2% for meat meal, 37.9% for viscera meal and 56.2% for feather meal. Available UDP in the intestinal tract was contained 288 g, 217 g, 246 g and 423 g per kilogram DM of diet in fish meal, meat meal, viscera meal and feather meal, respectively.

        A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE PROTECTION OF DHAINCHA (Sesbania aculeata) SEED MEAL AND FISH MEAL FROM RUMEN DEGRADATION USING NYLON BAG TECHNIQUE

        The protection of dry matter and nitrogen from rumen degradation of dhaincha seed (Sesbania aculeate) meal was studied using nylon bag technique. The dhaincha seed meal was subjected to various heat treatments that included oven drying, autoclaving and boiling. Similar experiment was conducted with fish meal as reference for comparison. The oven-dried dhaincha meal was found to retain more dry matter and nitrogen than was found boiled or autoclaved meal. While autoclaving appeared to improve nitrogen and dry matter retention to some extent, boiling seemed to cause more loss of dry matter from nylon bag. Heat treatment caused high retention of nitrogen by fish meal. The calculated effective protein degradation was 80.4% and 83.2% for the oven dried fish meal and dhaincha seed meal whereas same values were 74.2% and 86.7% for autoclaved fish and dhaincha seed meal respectively at the outflow rate of 4.4% per hour. The in vitro study revealed higher digestibility for heat treated samples by pepsin. The dry matter, nitrogen and ash content of dhaincha seed meal were 85.93%, 5.93% and 7.31% respectively.

        Effect of Partial Replacement of Fish Meal with Squid Liver Meal<sup>TM</sup> in the Diet on Growth and Body Composition of Juvenile Olive Flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) during Winter Season

        We evaluated the effects of the partial dietary replacement of fish meal with squid liver $Meal^{TM}$ on the growth and body composition of juvenile olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus during the winter season. Twenty-five fish with an initial body weight of 23 g per tank were distributed among 12,250 L flow-through tanks. The experimental diets, which were designated SLM5, SLM1O, and SLM15 diets, were prepared in triplicate along with control diet by replacing 5, 10, and $15\%$ of mackerel fish meal with squid liver $Meal^{TM}$, respectively. The weight gain and specific growth rate of flounder that were fed the control and SLM5 diets did not differ from those of the fish fed the SLM10 diet, but they were significantly (P<0.05) higher than those of the fish fed the SLM15 diet. The feed efficiency ratios for the flounder that were fed the control, SLM5 and SLM10 diets were significantly (P<0.05) higher than for the fish that were fed the SLM15 diet. However, the protein efficiency ratio for the flounder was not significantly affected by the experimental diets. The crude protein, crude lipid and ash content, and blood chemistry of the flounder were not significantly affected by the experimental diets. Therefore, the replacement of up to $10\%$ of dietary fish meal with squid liver $Meal^{TM}$ can be made without a reduction in growth or a deterioration of the feed efficiency of juvenile olive flounder during the winter season.

        The middle school subjects were 65.8% girls and 34.2% boys. Seniors were most abundant at 56.3%. The most abundant location was Gyeonggi-do (54.7%), and 69.3% of subjects were living with 4?5 family members. Approximately 56% of the mothers had graduated from high school, and 58.1% were unemployed. The mother most often prepared the food (78.4%), fish was eaten mostly in the home, and taste was the most important factor (62.6%). The preferred home food menu was fish because it is healthy, and the main cause for disliking the school meal service was poor quality dishes compared to a home cooked meal. The acceptance and type of fish were proportional. Rice was the most favored dish to eat with fish and scored 3.97, the highest rank. Approximately 50% answered that fish was nutritious, and a significant difference was observed regarding the mother`s educational background (p<0.05). Students who never had a lecture about fish answered that fish was not nutritious, which showed a significant difference with education (p<0.05). Approximately 44% of students ate fish 2?3 times per week, and male students showed a significantly higher intake of fish than female students (p<0.05). The poorly educated disliked fish the most, and the higher frequency intake of fish resulted in a significantly higher percentile (p<0.001).

        넙치(Paralichthys olivaceus) 치어 사료에서 산 가수분해 농축대두박 (Acid-concentrated soybean meal)의 어분대체효과 및 소화율 평가

        This study was conducted to investigate the effects of fishmeal replacement with acid-concentrated soybean meal (ACSBM) on growth performance, blood biochemistry, and ingredient digestibility in juvenile olive flounder Para lichthys olivaceus . Six experimental diets were formulated to replace fishmeal protein with ACSBM at 0%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, and 60% (designated ACSBM0, ACSBM20, ACSBM30, ACSBM40, ACSBM50, and ACSBM60, respectively). Triplicate groups of fish (initial fish mean weight: 14.3±0.03 g) were fed the experimental diets to apparent satiation (twice daily at 08:00 and 18:00 h). After a 12-week feeding trial, a total of 180 healthy fish were randomly distributed into three Guelph system tanks at a density of 60 fish/tank (initial fish mean weight : 50.6±2.4 g) to test the apparent digestibility coefficients of the ingredients (ACSBM, fishmeal, and soybean meal). Although negative effects were observed with ACSBM40, ACSBM50 and ACSBM60 after 12 weeks of feeding, up to 20% of the fishmeal protein could be successfully replaced with ACSBM without significant growth depression. Hemoglobin and hematocrit values of fish fed the ACSBM50 and ACSBM60 diets were significantly lower than those of fish fed the ACSBM0 diet. Glucose values of fish fed the ACSBM60 diet were significantly higher than those of fish fed the ACSBM0 and ACSBM20 diets. Digestibility of protein in ACSBM and soybean meal was 85.9% and 82.5%, respectively. Results indicated that at least 20% of fishmeal protein can be replaced by ACSBM in diets of juvenile olive flounder without supplementation of limiting amino acids.

        Effects of Fish-Meal Application on the Growth of Chinese Cabbages (Brassica Campestris L.) and Soil Chemical Properties

        nitrogen requirements by evaluate the effect of the pollack fish-meal incorporation on growth properties of cabbage and soil chemistry. The study was conducted as pot (1/2,000a) test at the Miryang in Korea from May to August 2017. The treatment was divided into two groups; the amount of fish-meal treated were based by comparing the standard application ratio of nitrogen for Chinese cabbage with the nitrogen content of the fish-meal, and the chemical properties and the growth of the cabbage were compared by the treatments of 50%, 100%, 150%, 200% and 250%. The results obtained are following; the ammonia gas was produced from the after 2nd day of incorporated, and the amount of ammonia gas generated was geometrically correlated with the amount of fish processed. The soil pH level after study was lowered to about the pH 5.1 from 32.1 g/pot (1/2,000a). Due to the fish-meal increased the EC, content of Av. P2O5 acid and inorganic nitrogen, and the pH level did not decrease even when the inorganic nitrogen increased at NO3 - ‒N content of 5.4 mg/kg and NH4 + ‒N was higher than 3.3 mg/kg. The SPAD value at the time of cabbage harvest was positive correlation with the amount of fish-meal treated, and the biomass was similar to that of SPAD. The biomass of Chinese cabbage in fish-meal plots were higher than that of conventional treatments, and the weight of the headed cabbage was the highest in T4 (64.1 g/pot). The number of cabbage leaf was the highest in T3 (53.4 g/pot). Based on the above results, it is thought that if the C/N ratio adjusted plant organic resources, methods of mixing and technologies for minimizing pH drop are supplemented, it will be excellent eco-friendly organic resources instead of synthetic nitrogen
