        Influence of IS Planning and Change Management on ERP Implementation Success

        Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is one of key information technology to shape doing business. ERP adoption characteristics like IS planning and change management before ERP implementation are rising in importance, because of gaining competitive advantage. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of the characteristics of ERP adoption on ERP implementation success. From previous researches on ERP adoption and implementation, two characteristics of ERP adoption such as IS planning and change management, and 2 dependent variables such as process innovation and business performance, are identified. From data collection processes, 122 samples are collected. The results of hypothesis testing show that organizations with IS plan have higher implementation performance than organizations without IS plan. Also, organizations with the process of change management have higher implementation performance than organizations without the process of change management. Also, The interaction effect between IS planning and change management shows bigger impact in ERP implementation success.       • ERP시스템 확산과 기업성과의 관계

        전사적 자원관리(ERP : Enterprise Resource Planning) 시스템은 기업 합리화와 효율화 측면에서 최선의 대안으로 선택 되어지고 있다. 따라서 많은 기업들이 ERP시스템을 도입ㆍ활용하고자 하지만, 실질적으로 ERP시스템 도입으로 발생하는 비용에 대응하는 기업의 성과가 발생하지 않는 경우가 많이 발생되고 있다. 이러한 현상의 원인에는 여러 가지 이유가 있을 수 있지만, 우선은 시스템 도입과 확산단계에서의 주요 요인들의 통제가 가장 큰 관건이 된다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 ERP시스템의 확산 단계에서의 영향 요인들이 궁극적으로 기업 성과와 어떠한 상관관계를 가지고 있으며, 얼마나 영향을 미치는지에 대해 ERP시스템담당자들로부터 수집된 데이터를 가지고 실증적 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 다음과 같은 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. ERP시스템을 채택하는 기업은 ERP시스템의 확산에 영향을 미치는 혁신요인, 지원요인, 학습요인, IS요인, 프로젝트요인들을 적절히 통제하여 시스템의 확산을 촉진시킴으로서 궁극적으로 기업의 성과를 제고하고 효율성을 제고할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 특히 업무 담당자의 업무관련 지식과 문제해결 능력 등이 시스템 확산 정도에 큰 영향을 끼친다는 것이 입증되었으며, 또한 ERP시스템 구축을 위한 프로젝트가 얼마나 명확한 목표를 가지고 합리적이고 계획적으로 진행되느냐가ERP시스템의 확산 정도의 커다란 영향이라는 것도 증명되었다. 또한 시스템 도입후의 경과기간이 어느 정도인가에 따라 시스템 확산 정도가 영향을 받음이 회귀분석 결과로 입증되었다. 그러므로 ERP시스템을 도입하여 기업 효율성을 제고하고자 하는 기업은 담당 실무자의 능력을 바탕으로 하는 ERP시스템에 관한 철저한 계획과 실행이 기업의 성과 제고의 가장 주요한 변수임을 인식하여야 할 것이다. 또한 ERP시스템의 확산은 도입 후 경과기간이 길수록 확산의 정도가 높게 나타나므로, ERP 시스템의 도입은 빠를수록 효과적이라고 할 수 있을 것이다. The purpose of this study is finding out how diffusion of ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning) system affect enterprise's achievement. The enterprise adopts it to achieve reasonableness and effectiveness of enterprise. To do this study, first drawing a study model based on past research of ERP study and surveying enterprises adopting ERP system after 6 months and do the empirical analysis and use vertical and horizontal diffusion concept. The result of the empirical analysis can be summarized as follow. First organizational compatibility, complexity, cost of system establishment, IS maturity, management support, elapsed time since initial adoption and project planning and management selected as independent variable have a positive correlation, and complexity and extent of planning and propelling of project have a negative correlation. Second, according to hypothesis, the extent of vertical and horizontal diffusion and the result of enterprise in organizational and working have a positive correlation. Third, in correlation analysis all most of variable can be approve the correlation, but can not measure the contribution of practical variables. To overcome these problems, the multiple regression analysis was performed to measure the contribution of independent variable to intervening variable or the contribution of intervening variable to dependent variable. Fourth, in the results of regression analysis, management support, project planning and management, and elapsed time since initial adoption have strong influence vertical diffusions and project planning and management, and elapsed time since initial adoption have only influence horizontal diffusions. Additionally, achievement of enterprise as dependent variable has strong both vertical and horizontal diffusions. For the summary of this study, first, providing a frame work of ERP system study using diffusion theory in this study and performing empirical analysis to Korean enterprises. Second, innovated factors emphasized in the past research do not significant influence ERP system diffusion, but management support and an official in charge of ERP system are significant factors in success. Third, ERP system is not reach the mature stage yet in Korea. However, this study will provide an analysis of diffusion and major factors of influence at this point, and help an official in charge of ERP system to adopt the ERP system. Proposing the study direction in the future study as follow based on some of limitation of this study. First, this kind of the characteristic of empirical study has to perform based on the result of plentiful past studies, but it is not possible to include it because of limitation of ERP system study. Second, should search the potential factors dropped from study model and elaborate the study model. Third, measuring the variable using in this study has a lot of capability of subjective bias. As a result, this kind of study is necessary to develop the measuring tools needed to avoid respondents subjective opinions.

        ERP 도입특성에 따른 ERP 실행성과의 차이

        It is widely agreed that Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is one of key information technology to shape doing business. ERP adoption characteristics like ERP package selection and ERP implementation method are rising in importance from the back office to the boardroom, because of the big impact to business. The purpose of this study is to analyze the difference of the characteristics of ERP adoption on ERP implementation success. From previous researches on ERP adoption and implementation, 6 ERP adoption characteristics (Package V.S In-house, Local V.S. Global, Phased V.S. Big Bang, ERP Organization, IS Planning, Change Management), and 1 dependent variable (implementation success of ERP systems), are identified. From data collection processes, 122 samples are collected. The results of hypothesis testing show that organizations adopted global ERP package have higher implementation performance than organizations adopted local ERP package. Organizations with IS plan have higher implementation performance than organizations without IS plan. Organizations with the process of change management have higher implementation performance than organizations without the process of change management. Also, The effect of interaction between IS planning and change management shows bigger impact in ERP implementation success.

        수주생산기업의 ERP 커스터마이징 사례 연구

        비즈니스 프로세스의 혁명이라고 불려지는 전사적 자원관리(Enterprise Resource Planning; ERP)는 기업 내부의 전 부문을 통합하여 자원을 효율적으로 운영하게 해 주는 업무시스템이다. 그러나 ERP가 모든 기업에서 동일한 형태로 운영될 수는 없다. 기업마다 사업환경이나 운영방식이 다르기 때문에 적절한 커스터마이징을 거쳐 기업에 최적화될 때 성과를 극대화시킬 수 있다. 본 연구는 수주생산기업(Make to Order; MTO)의 핵심성과가 무엇이며, 핵심성과를 달성하기 위해 ERP를 어떻게 커스터마이징해야 하는지 알아보고자 진행되었다. 이를 위해 MTO 기업의 핵심성과와 필요한 ERP의 기능들을 정의하고 사례연구를 통해 실제 커스터마이징된 항목들과 비교하였다. 결과적으로 사례기업은 MTO 기업의 핵심성과 중 하나인 납기준수와 수주별 원가관리를 위해 PS(Project System) 모듈, GPD(Grouping, Pegging, Distribution) 및 중장기계획(Long-term Planning; LTP) 도입, 프로젝트 종료시 소요비용(Estimation at Completion; EAC) 전산화, 생산계획 모니터링 강화 등의 ERP 커스터마이징을 실시하여 전반적인 업무효율화와 사업관리 역량을 강화하는 성과를 얻을 수 있었다. 기업들은 자신들의 사업환경과 프로세스의 문제점을 정확히 인지하고 ERP 본래의 모범사례 범위 내에서 적절히 커스터마이징한다면 매우 성공적인 전사적 자원관리시스템을 구축할 수 있을 것이다. ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), as known as a revolution of business process, is a transaction system that manages resources effi-ciently by combining all parts of business internal activities. However, ERP cannot be operated as the same format on every company. When it is optimized for a company by proper customizing, the efficiency of ERP can be maximized because each company is in different business environments and management methods. This study is carried out to be aware of what the key performance in MTO (Make to Order) company is, and how to customize ERP to achieve the key performance. To achieve these goals, we defined key performance and required functions of ERP for MTO companies, compared practically customized ERP functions through case studies, and analyzed the achievement based on the customized ERP functions. In conclusion, strengthening general task efficiency and business management ca-pacity were clearly achieved through ERP customizing, such as adopting PS(Project System) module, GPD(Grouping, Pegging, Distribu-tion)/LTP(Long-term Planning), computerized EAC(Estimation at Completion) and intensified production monitoring to accomplish the key performance which was defined as on-time delivery and cost management by project. Companies, which have already planned to adopt ERP, are able to set up ERP systems very successfully, if they are aware of their business environmental conditions, problems of processes, and customize original ERP properly within the range of best practices.

        ERP 시스템 도입유형이 기업의 IT·SW 활용에 미치는 영향에 관한 실증연구

        Today s ERP system has become a core system of ITㆍSW that not only supports and manages enterprise resources efficiently, but also encompasses major business tasks. In other words, the ERP system is an essential strategic element for the survival of a company as a powerful means to innovate the management of an organization. This study analyzed the impact on the utilization of ITㆍSW from the perspective of the entire organization s process without limiting the performance evaluation of the ERP system itself, which is a core system of a company. The measurement data for evaluating the performance of the ERP system was the 2018 domestic company ITㆍSW utilization survey result report (subject to survey : 3,017 domestic companies with 10 or more employees). Based on this data, this study analyzed the impact of the ERP system on the entire enterprise s ITㆍSW utilization. In particular, attention was paid to whether there would be a difference in the use of ITㆍSW if the type of ERP system introduction was changed through the improvement of the business process of the company. Multiple regression analysis was performed using the statistical package SPSS 25. As a result, among the ERP system introduction types, the greatest degree of (+)influence on the company s ITㆍSW utilization is when the ERP package SW or ASP service is used as it is. Although the difference is insignificant, the second case was to build an ERP system through self-development or outsourcing, followed by customizing the package SW or system through self-development or outsourcing. Through the results of this study, it is expected that the organization will improve the business process and use the standard ERP package SW as it is without modification, thereby effectively enhancing the use of IT·SW of the company and leading to management performance.

        ERP시스템 성공요인에 관한 실증적 연구 -경주지역 자동차 부품 협력업체를 중심으로-

        The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors successful in constructing ERP systems of automobile part manufactures. This study is the result of what factors affect the fruit of introduction and what factors ERP’ introduction has an influence on. * Assistant Professor, Department of International Trade, Dongeui University. ** Lecturer, Department of Business Administration, Dongkook University. Frist, the introduction of ERP system, organizational specific factor, has an positive influence on satisfaction, which is an outcome factor, the improvement of work-handling ability, work efficiency, and the product of information, but not on the product of growth. Secondly, the influential factor of ERP system’s introduction, which is an organizational specific factor, positively affects satisfaction, which is an outcome factor and improvement outcome of work handling ability. The outcomes of growth, work efficiency, and information do not reach up to the positive influence. Third, the environmental factor has a positive effect on satisfaction, results of the work-handling, growth, work efficiency and information. Fourth, information system factor has a positive effect on satisfaction and the results of work-handling, growth, work efficiency and information but not on product or growth. Last, organizational personnel, environmental and informational factors have no influence on informational factor depending on the scale of enterprise.         ERP System Performance in a Hospital

        Objective: To measure the performance of a hospital enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and suggest various system improvements. Methods: A survey based on a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire and an exclusive interview was administered to 102 employees with a one-year experience of using an ERP system at one university hospital. In order to analyze the factors affecting the ERP system performance, multiple regression analysis and Chi-square test were conducted. Results: All three examined variables-system quality, information quality and integration of hospital information resources-affected the ERP system performance positively. However, the system quality variable had the lowest mean score indicating that the ERP system was difficult to understand for many users. User characteristics were not significantly associated with information quality satisfaction. Conclusion: On the basis of the study results, we recommended some suggestions to improve the ERP system performance. In order to reduce users' dissatisfaction with the new system, hospitals should publicize the needs of the ERP system for the employees, design more effective training programs, and provide more decision-supporting information for managers.         As business needs are accelerating exponentially due to globalization and other market forces, companies regardless of its size need data which can operate flexibly and rapidly across disappearing physical and organizational borders. To meet the growing Enterprise Resource Planning [ERP] needs for small and medium sized firms, large ERP vendors have introduced new and inexpensive products to these markets. They can customize to businesses of all sizes as long as they have the need for the services and the budget to support the system. Based on the observations in this research, most ERP vendors, regardless of their size, are now focusing more on improving the implementation curve and reporting capabilities through compartmentalizing business applications along industry verticals. Also ERP systems are becoming more open thereby consultants and subject matter experts now have the opportunity to create modules based upon verticals to form a best-of-breed ERP implementation of enterprises.

      • ERP 시스템 지원을 위한 OLTP 시스템 개발에 관한 연구

        Recently, many companies want to accept and operate ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system in their fields ERP does not only include business, but also include finance, account, trade, personnel and BPR(Business Process Reengineering). Especially, it is necessary to have ERP system for companies which have lots of external business such as trade and communication sector. And then, in this paper, I will think about OLTP (On-Line Transaction Processing) system for operating ERP system and improve its defects that can operate more effective sales, circulation, demand plan. But it is regrettable that I can not make a comparative analysis with other systems because the ERP system is still on the introductory stage for the company studies and the benefits have not been realized yet. Another limitation of this research is its narrow scope of study in which only the raw material inventory system for a single company is covered. In the future, however, ERP system would be adopted by many corporations, which would help us to launch a comparative study on the results of ERP system implementation as a future direction of research.
