이 글은 중국 유학생들이 고전산문을 교수·학습하는 데 있어서 어떤 어려움이 있고, 또 국문과의 교육과정에 어떠한 문제가 있는 지를 살펴본 글이다. 전체적인 논의를 통해 확인된 몇 가지 중 하나는 중앙대 국어국문학과 교육과정에서는 과목별 위계와 난이도를 고려한 교과목 조정 작업이 필요하다는 점이다. 그리고 장르별로 반드시 강독해야 할 작품 목록을 만들고 이에 대한 안내가 필요하다는 점도 확인되었다. 이는 교·강사가 바뀌어도 해당 교과목에서 배워야 할 작품이 일정 부분 유지될 수 있도록 하는 장점이 있다. 두 번째는 유학생들이 고전산문 텍스트 읽기를 하지 않은 상태에서 작품론 위주로 수업이 진행된 결과 인터넷에 떠도는 잡다한 내용을 복사해서 오는 문제가 발견되었다. 이를 해결하기 위해서는 시간이 걸리더라도 고전 작품을 직접 읽고 스스로 작품을 분석하고 감상하는 과정을 교수·학습해야 한다고 보았다. 그리고 이러한 학습의 변화를 위해 유학생들을 위한 고전산문의 작품 목록을 만드는 작업이 필요하다고 보았다. 세 번째는 고전산문 교육의 활성화와 개선을 위해, 고전산문 교육의 ‘본질론적 방향’과 이를 활용하는 ‘실용적 방향’을 동시에 고려해야 한다고 보았다. 이 역시 고전산문 작품의 正典 목록화와 定典化가 선행되어야 한다. 그리고 이와 같이 고전산문의 철저한 강독을 토대로 ‘스토리텔링’이나 ‘문화콘텐츠’화 같은 실용 과정이 병행된다면 기본에 충실한 교육과 재미와 흥미를 동시에 획득할 수 있다는 장점이 있다. 이러한 고전산문 교육을 통해 학생들은 법고창신, 온고지신의 정신을 체득하여 실현할 수 있을 것이라고 생각한다. This study aims to examine the difficulties of Chinese students and identify potential issues in a course within a Korean literature curriculum. One of the issues identified through indepth discussions is the necessity to adjust curriculum subjects considering the hierarchy and level of difficulty. Additionally, it is necessary to create lists of works to read by genre, which could be used to guide students. The merit in doing this is that the learning of the subject will continue even though the professor who teaches may change. The second issue is about teaching without reading classical prose texts. It results in students copying miscellaneous information from the internet. The course necessitates that students read a literary work and analyze it by themselves, although this may take time. Therefore, creating classical prose lists for the Chinese students must take precedence in order to change their learning. The third issue is that we need to consider “the intrinsic direction” of teaching classical prose and “the practical use” of learning in order to vitalize and improve classical prose education. For this, it is essential to choose good works and create work lists beforehand. Storytelling or cultural contents based on reading works can be used simultaneously to enhance basic teaching and learning of classical prose in an interesting manner. Students can practice training the mind to create the new things based on the old as a result of improved classical prose education.
