Vol.- No.34

The cruise product is characterized by high complexity, since it combines the characteristics of a typical maritime transport while offering the services of a luxury shore hotel to passengers. At present, cruise ship deployments are more than ever globally. As the Caribbean market is saturated, cruise lines are now opting to relocate some of their ships to the European and Asian market. Therefore, destination development, seasonality, redeployment, itinerary complexity and international passenger sourcing are some of the major considerations for the development of the supply chain of a cruise company. This study examines the complexity of service supply chain management(SCM) of Cruise Line Corporations. The study focused on three main goals: describing the key components of a cruise ship service supply chain and the key characteristics of the suppliers involved; and investigating the current chllenges for the implementing service SCM in the Cruise industries. Through the literature review and case study, this study identified the structure of supply chain of cruise line corporations and the cruise ship supply streams. The findings of this study have implications for the management of complex global service supply chains of emerging new corporations of Korea and current global large cruise companies.

Vol.17 No.1

The purpose of this study is a plan of the development of Cruise Industry in Korea. The merit of Korea as a port of call for cruise business is found to be its tourist attractions, history and culture. According to expert analyses, it is necessary to effectively develop traditional cultural heritages and tourist attractions of cruise ports into tourism products and to relate cruise tour with air transportation in order to promote cruise tourist industry. And cruise ship companies should develop education programs to train cruise staff members and utilize professional education centers for cruise experts. In order to increase the sailing of cruise ships, rapid construction of cruise piers, passenger terminal and education of cruise staff for promotion of cruise industry are required. Also, the immigration procedures for cruise passengers should be simplified and transit passenger policies that waive the immigration procedures for transit passengers at transit ports must also be adopted to promote cruise industry. To promote cruise industry in Korea, inbound strategies that promote sailing of foreign cruise ships into Korea are needed.

Vol.16 No.3

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors are critical indicators that measure both a company's sustainability and its non-financial performance. As the global community confronts climate change and the advent of endemic challenges, the significance of non-financial metrics, such as ESG, is becoming more pronounced. These factors play an instrumental role in determining a company's long-term viability and prosperity, and their integration into cruise line management is evident. In light of the setbacks from the COVID-19 pandemic, cruise lines have sought to overcome the crisis by implementing safety and hygiene protocols. They have also received accreditations from reputable organizations to assure tourists of their ventures' safety in relation to infectious diseases. As the pandemic stabilizes, these cruise lines have coordinated closely with health authorities worldwide, resuming operations in major countries including Europe, the U.S., and Singapore. It's anticipated that by the end of 2023, the cruise industry will not only recover but exceed pre-pandemic levels, and its growth trajectory is expected to to accelerate further. Leveraging 'endemics' as a novel avenue to revival, the strategic incorporation of ESG management was indispensable for cruise line companies. By examining ESG management practices among cruise lines, this paper aims to shed light on the need for ESG management for entities associated with the cruise industry. It also intends to address the challenges they face, explore supportive policies, and chart out strategic directions.

Vol.14 No.3

The purpose of this study is to measure the economic ripple effect of the cruise industry in Busan using a regional industry-related model. To this end, we first estimated the expenditure by dividing the cruise tourists and shipping companies. Next, the multiplier(production, income, added value, employment) was derived by dividing the home port and the port of call based on the regional industry linkage table, and the total economic ripple effect of the Busan area was calculated by applying the multiplier to the expenditures of cruise tourists and shipping companies. Tourists spent 176.4 billion won when they visited Busan as a port of call, while they spent a total of 182 billion won in Busan as a cruise homeport. On the other hand, it was found that the total expenditure of cruise lines reached 255.1 billion won. As a result of the economic ripple effect analysis, the production/income/value-added ripples according to the total expenditures of tourists (176.4 billion won) and cruise lines (255.1 billion won) as a cruise port of call were about 1.11 trillion won, and the number of employment was analyzed to be 9,356. On the other hand, the production/income/value-added ripples according to the total expenditures of tourists (182 billion won) and cruise lines (255.1 billion won) as the cruise home port were about 1.19 trillion won, and the number of employment ripples was analyzed to be 11,250.

Vol.22 No.2

The cruise tourism industry has been considered as one of the most promising growth industries, but a strong base for its development is yet to be acheived. There are no specialized cruise companies and ports, nor are terminals to accommodate ships properly prepared. There are no international cruise companies, except only a few which started the cruise industry here at the national harbors. Although the demand for cruise tourism is increasing thanks to increasing national income, expansion of five-day workweek system, and changing holiday culture, lack of national cruise companies, products, and infrastructures lead tourists to use foreign products. Therefore, we need to develop directions in order to activate cruise industry that can increase travel account and bring development to relevant industries such as tourism, marine transport and ship-building. Development of our cruise industry will provide more opportunities for our people to be exposed to marine tourism which will contribute to the enhancement of their happiness index.

Vol.13 No.3

The definition and modelling of customer loyalty have been central issues in customer relationship management since many years. The purpose of this study is to examine the relative influence of value equity, brand equity, and retention equity (customer equity drivers) on cruise passengers' customer loyalty. Data were collected by a online survey from who had taken cruise travel at least once in the past twelve months. A structural equation modelling was performed to estimate the research model and to test the research hypotheses. The effect of value equity on customer loyalty was stronger than those of brand equity and retention equity. The effect of retention equity on customer loyalty was stronger than that of brand equity. The proposed model may help cruise line marketers to understand many facets of the customer loyalty from a customer equity driver perspective.
