<P>A statistical beamforming (SBF) scheme based on the effective channel gain (ECG) is proposed for spatially correlated massive multiple-input multiple-output systems. The proposed SBF scheme consists of outer and inner precoders. The outer precoder is designed to eliminate multiuser interference based on the correlation matrix of downlink channel. Then, according to the ECG defined as the squared inner product of the dedicated channel and an arbitrary precoding vector, the inner precoder is selected among the eigenvectors of the dedicated channel’s correlation matrix with the maximum ECG. Simulation results show that the proposed SBF scheme outperforms conventional schemes.</P>

Aims: This study investigated the effect of sarcopenia on the survival of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients who underwent curative or non-curative treatment. Methods: There were 2 sets of subjects (test and validation set) in the same center. The test set included curatively resected 160 HCC patients from 2003 to 2011. The validation set included 257 HCC patients who underwent curative or palliative treatment from 2012 to 2015. The cross-sectional areas of the bilateral psoas muscles at the third lumbar level were normalized for the patient’s height, and presented as psoas muscle index (PMI). Sex-specific cut-offs of PMI to define the sarcopenica were ascertained by the maximal chi-square method. Results: In the test set (n=160, curative resection, median age of 56 years, male 75%), the PMI (mean ± SD) was 4.78 ± 1.64 (males) and 2.91 ± 0.93 cm2/m2 (females), showing sarcopenic prevalence of 17.5%. In the validation set subjects (n=257, mostly non-curatively treated, median age of 60 years, male 80.9%), the PMI was 4.46 ± 1.25 (males) and 2.28 ± 0.81 (females), showing the sarcopenic prevalence of 57.2%. The 5-year overall survival rate in the sarcopenic group (52.2%) was significantly lower than in the nonsarcopenic group (76.5%) (P=0.008) in the test set, which was confirmed in the validation set (65.2% vs. 80.3%, respectively, P=0.004). Moreover, sarcopenia was an independent factor for poor survival in both test [(hazard ratio (HR), 2.374, 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.308- 4.309, P=0.004) and validation set (HR, 2.035, 95% CI 1.047- 3.958, P=0.036). However, recurrence free survival was not different according to the sarcopenia in both test and validation set. Conclusions: Sarcopenia measured by PMI predicts poor survival in Korean HCC patients who underwent curative or non-cu-rative treatment. Therefore, nutritional support and exercise enforcement for HCC patients may improve the survival of HCC patients.
국고보조금 규모 결정요인 분석 : 지방자치단체장의 국회 예산결산특별위원회 네트워크를 중심으로

본 연구는 공공선택론 관점에서 지방자치단체장 개인의 국회 예산결산특별위원회의 네트워크가 국고보조금 규모에 미치는 영향을 분석한다. 국고보조금은 중앙정부로부터 지방정부로 교부되는 재원이며, 세출분권적 특성으로인해 지방자치단체장의 선심성 행정수단으로 이용될 가능성이 크다. 연구는 지방자치단체장이 국고보조금 획득을극대화하기 위해 자신의 국회 네트워크를 이용할 수 있다는 가설을 설정하고, 이를 검증한다. 분석은 2013~2020 년까지 광역자치단체를 대상으로 광역자치단체장과 예산결산특별위원 간의 공식적 네트워크(정당, 지역구)와 비공식적 네트워크(출신지역, 출신대학)가 국고보조금 규모에 미치는 영향력을 확인한다. 단체장의 공식적・비공식적 네트워크의 크기를 확인하기 위해 사회적 네트워크 분석(SNA: Social Network Analysis)을 통해 단체장의 예산결산특별위원회 네트워크 유형별 인접중심성 값을 도출하였으며, 이를 독립변수로 하여 패널회귀분석 고정효과모형을 실시하였다. 분석결과 광역자치단체장의 비공식적 네트워크인 출신대학 네트워크가 국고보조금 규모에 정(+)적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. This study attempts to find the impact of the network between the Budget and Accounts Special Committee and chief of local government on the amount of government subsidies based on the perspective of public choice theory. The government subsidies are financial resources that are given from the central government to local governments. Because of their decentralized nature, Government subsidies are likely to be used as pork barrel administrative tools. This study establishes and verifies the hypothesis that the head of the local governments can use the Budget and Accounts Special Committee network to maximize the acquisition of government subsidies. In the analysis part, the study finds the impact of official network(party, district) and informal networks(region, university) of head of the local governments. In order to measure the network values, this study use the social network analysis(SNA). As a result, only the university network, an informal network of heads of local governments, has a significantly positive effect on the amount of government subsidies.

Purpose: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is a commonly performed procedure for the management of acute cholecystitis. The presence of an inexperienced scopist or a shortage of manpower could be problematic in emergency surgical cases. To overcome these potential problems while ensuring a stable surgical view during LC, we performed solo surgery.Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the results of 22 patients who underwent solo three-incision LC (S-TILC) and 31 patients who underwent the conventional three-incision LC (C-TILC) from March 1, 2015, to August 31, 2015. We compared the two groups with respect to the patients’ clinical characteristics, and intraoperative and postoperative results; and severity grade as defined by the updated Tokyo guidelines 2013 (TG13) criteria.Results: No significant differences in baseline characteristics were found between the two groups. The intraoperative perforation rates were higher in the C-TILC group than in the S-TILC group (p=0.016). Two cases were converted to human-assisted LC in the S-TILC group because of severe adhesions and the scope holder breaking down. No significant differences were found between the groups with respect to length of hospital stay; postoperative diet habit; or rates of post-cholecystectomy diarrhea, abdominal pain, wound complication, or complication according to the Clavien-Dindo grade.Conclusion: S-TILC and C-TILC were comparable in terms of results, and this solo surgery in LC could be performed for cases of acute cholecystitis during shortage of skilled manpower.

Backgrounds/Aims: Graft survival after ABO-incompatible (ABOi) living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) has increased due to advances in desensitization methods. We analyzed early outcomes following ABOi LDLT using only rituximab without any additional desensitization methods in recipients with low anti-ABO antibody titers (≤1:32). Methods: Ten adult patients underwent ABOi LDLT between September 2014 and December 2016. All patients were administered a single dose of rituximab (300 mg/㎡) prior to LDLT. Three patients with baseline anti-ABO titer >1:32 underwent multiple sessions of plasmapheresis to reduce titers to <1:32 (rituximab+plasmapheresis, RP). Seven patients with low anti-ABO titer (≤1:32) did not undergo plasmapheresis (rituximab-only, RO). ABO-compatible LDLT patients during the same period were included for comparison (n=22). Results: Post-transplantation titers were significantly lower in the RO than in the RP and showed no rebound rise (POD7 1.14±0.38 vs 28.0±31.7, p=0.04), (POD30 1.26±0.45 vs 108±107, p=0.02). There were no significant differences in rejection, biliary complications and infection between groups. There were no significant differences in outcome between the RO group and ABO-compatible except for infection. Conclusions: This study shows that recipients with low baseline anti-ABO antibody titer (≤1:32) can undergo ABOi LDLT using conventional immunosuppression and rituximab alone.

<P>We fabricated 8?×?8 arrays of non-volatile resistive memory devices on commercially available Scotch<SUP>®</SUP> Magic<SUP>™</SUP> tape as a flexible substrate. The memory devices consist of double active layers of Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> with a structure of Au/Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>/Au/Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB>/Al (50 nm/20 nm/20 nm/20 nm/50 nm) on attachable tape substrates. Because the memory devices were fabricated using only dry and low temperature processes, the tape substrate did not suffer from any physical or chemical damage during the fabrication. The fabricated memory devices were turned to the low resistance state at ∼3.5 V and turned to the high resistance state at ∼10 V with a negative differential resistance region after ∼5 V, showing typical unipolar non-volatile resistive memory behavior. The memory devices on the tape substrates exhibited reasonable electrical performances including a high ON/OFF ratio of 10<SUP>4</SUP>, endurance over 200 cycles of reading/writing processes, and retention times of over 10<SUP>4</SUP> s in both the flat and bent configurations.</P>
