Objective-The aim of this study was to estimate the prevalence and correlates of mental disorders in Korean adults. Methods-Door to door household surveys were conducted with community residents aged 18–74 years from July 19, 2011, to November 16, 2011 (n=6,022, response rate 78.7%). The sample was drawn from 12 catchment areas using a multistage cluster method. Each subject was assessed using the Korean version of the World Health Organization Composite International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI) based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition (DSM-IV). Results-Lifetime and 12-month prevalence estimates were as follows: alcohol use disorders, 13.4% and 4.4%, respectively; nicotine use disorders, 7.2% and 4.0%, respectively; anxiety disorders, 8.7% and 6.8%, respectively; and mood disorders, 7.5% and 3.6%, respectively. The prevalence rates of all types of DSM-IV mental disorders were 27.6% and 16.0%, respectively. Being female; young; divorced, separated, or widowed; and in a low-income group were associated with mood and anxiety disorders after adjustment for various demographic variables, whereas being male and young were associated with alcohol use disorders. Higher income was not correlated with alcohol use disorder as it had been in the 2001 survey. Conclusion-The rate of depressive disorders has increased since 2001 (the first national survey), whereas that of anxiety disorders has been relatively stable. The prevalence of nicotine and alcohol use disorders has decreased, and the male-to-female ratio of those with this diagnosis has also decreased.
Dosimetric Impact of Ti Mesh on Proton Beam Therapy

When a high density metallic implant is placed in the path of the proton beam, spatial heterogeneity can be caused due to artifacts in three dimensional (3D) computed tomography (CT) scans. These artifacts result in range uncertainty in dose calculation in treatment planning system (TPS). And this uncertainty may cause significant underdosing to the target volume or overdosing to normal tissue beyond the target. In clinical cases, metal implants must be placed in the beam path in order to preserve organ at risk (OARs) and increase target coverage for tumors. So we should introduce Ti-mesh. In this paper, we measured the lateral dose profile for proton beam using an EBT3 film to confirm dosimetric impact of Ti-mesh when the Ti-mesh plate was placed in the proton beam pathway. The effect of Ti-mesh on the proton beam was investigated by comparing the lateral dose profile calculated from TPS with the film-measured value under the same conditions.

Due to the recent demand and interest in digital convergence by consumers, businesses are competitively introducing new products. However, their market performance is not meeting expectations. In order to acquire a comprehensive understanding of the diffusion of digital convergence products, this paper look into not only the previous adoption-diffusion model, but also the recently discussed use-diffusion model. For this study, we set up a hypothesis and model based on the theoretical review of the adoption-diffusion and use-diffusion models, and then conducted an empirical verification. First, a verified result of influential hypothesis about external factors’ effects on TAM’s simple use and usefulness shows that technical elaboration is a common factor in having influence on simple usage and usefulness. Second, perceived usefulness was confirmed as a common factor which has an influence on the intention of repurchase through the hypothesis test result of the influence of perceived factors on consumer attitude. On the other hand, perceived simple usage only had influence on satisfaction and not on the intention of repurchase. Thus, it’s shown that simple usage doesn’t have statistical significance due to a change in precedence in terms of the purpose of use. Third, diversity of usage purpose was confirmed as a common factor in having significant influence on the intention of repurchase through the test result on the influential hypothesis about use pattern on consumer pattern. As mentioned above, this study with digital convergence products, which can be categorized as innovative products, as an objective takes adoption factors and use patterns into consideration at the same time. A meaning can be found from the fact that independent variables which have influences on adoption and usage expansion were able to be compared and analyzed through the studying the expansion with a focus on adoption after usage of a product and the TAM model of the traditional usage expansion.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P><B>Rational:</B></P><P>Kallmann syndrome (KS) is a genetic gonadotropin-releasing hormone deficiency associated with hyposmia or anosmia and characterized by various modes of inheritance.</P><P><B>Patient concerns:</B></P><P>A 16-year-old male did not reach puberty and was associated with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism and anosmia. His magnetic resonance imaging of brain revealed the absence of the olfactory bulb.</P><P><B>Diagnosis:</B></P><P>His karyotype was 46 XY. Sanger sequencing of the <I>KAL1</I> gene revealed no mutations. Diagnostic exome sequencing identified a prokineticin-receptor 2 (<I>PROKR2</I>) gene variant, c.337T > C (p.Tyr113His), previously reported to be a pathogenic mutation; we confirmed the presence of the mutation via Sanger sequencing of the coding exons of <I>PROKR2</I>. His apparently unaffected mother and sister, but not his father, were heterozygous for the <I>PROKR2</I> Tyr113His mutation.</P><P><B>Lessons:</B></P><P>This work advances our understanding of the role played by PROKR signaling and the mode of inheritance of the gene in patients with KS.</P>

To enhance effi ciency and minimize errors, we automated the quality assurance (QA) process in radiation oncology, specifi - cally laser localization. Additionally, we explored the use of a convolutional neural network (CNN) to enhance the detection of small cube-ball phantoms in noisy images. Laser localizations were measured manually on the acquired images. To automate the QA workfl ow, we developed a Linux server equipped with database and web servers. Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) fi les were retrieved 40 times for 10 linear accelerators (LINACs). The center of the cube-ball phantoms was estimated through Gaussian fi tting. We applied CNN using 6,968 stored results to improve the estimation performance in noisy megavoltage (MV) images. Subsequently, both analysis time and accuracy were compared. Our hospital has been employing the automated QA system since 2018, notably reducing the time for laser localization from 30 min to just 1 min. The average and standard deviation (SD) of inter-observer variability in the X- and Y-axes were 0.06 ± 0.01 mm and 0.05 ± 0.01 mm, respectively. Absolute diff erences between manual assessment and Gaussian fi tting presented average and SD values of 0.40 ± 0.51 mm and 0.23 ± 0.24 mm, respectively. In contrast, absolute diff erences between manual assessment and CNN presented average and SD values of 0.12 ± 0.10 mm and 0.11 ± 0.09 mm, respectively. Overall, the automated QA system signifi cantly hastened procedures in our large hospital and improved the estimation of the cube-ball phantom’s position in noisy images through deep learning.

Orange carotenoid protein (OCP) of photosynthetic cyanobacteria binds to ketocarotenoids noncovalently and absorbs excess light to protect the host organism from light-induced oxidative damage. Herein, we found that mutating valine 40 in the α3 helix of Gloeocapsa sp. PCC 7513 (GlOCP1) resulted in blue- or red-shifts of 6-20 nm in the absorption maxima of the lit forms. We analyzed the origins of absorption maxima shifts by integrating X-ray crystallography, homology modeling, molecular dynamics simulations, and hybrid quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics calculations. Our analysis suggested that the single residue mutations alter the polar environment surrounding the bound canthaxanthin, thereby modulating the degree of charge transfer in the photoexcited state of the chromophore. Our integrated investigations reveal the mechanism of color adaptation specific to OCPs and suggest a design principle for color-specific photoswitches.
