Human protein tyrosine kinase-6 (PTK6) is a member of the non-receptor protein tyrosine kinase family and it is found in two-thirds of all breast tumors. Very recently, we proposed that the SH3 domain of PTK6 interacts with the linker region (Linker) between the SH2 and kinase domains, proving that the interaction between SH3 domain and Linker plays an important role in auto-inhibition mechanism. Residues from 1 to 191 corresponding region of SH3-SH2-Linker (SH32L) of PTK6 was cloned into the pET32a expression vector with Tobbaco etch virus (TEV) protease enzyme site by sequence homology and 3D structural model. The purified PTK6-SH32L was determined as a monomer conformation in solution. The amide proton resonances in the 15N-1H 2D-HSQC spectrum suggest that PTK6-SH32L possesses disordered structural region of the flexible/unstructured linker region. In addition, the backbone amide proton chemical shifts of the SH3 domain in the PTK6-SH32L differ from that of the independent domain, indicating that intra-molecular interaction between SH3 and Linker in the PTK6-SH32L is present.
Type-D Personality Can Predict Suicidality in Patients with Major Depressive Disorder

Objective-This study investigated the putative association between type-D personality and suicidality, including the history of suicide attempt and suicidal ideation in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). Methods-Eighty-six outpatients aged between 18 and 65 years with MDD were recruited for this study from Ilsan Paik Hospital. The cohort was stratified into two subgroups according to the presence of type-D personality and history of suicide attempt (yes vs. no). Depression severity was evaluated using the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale. The type-D Personality Scale-14 (DS-14), the Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS), the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS), the Hamilton Anxiety Scale, and the Beck Scale for Suicidal Ideation (BSS) were also applied. Results-The total BSS, BHS, and BIS scores were higher for the group with type-D personality than for the group without this personality (p=0.004, 0.01, and 0.003, respectively). In addition, the total scores for the BSS, BHS, and social inhibition (SI; subscale of DS-14) were higher for the group with a history of suicide attempt than for the group without this history (p=0.0000004, 0.003, and 0.033, respectively). There were positive correlations between the total DS-14 score and the total BSS, BHS, and BIS scores (r=0.413 and p=0.000077, r=0.404 and p=0.00012, and r=0.245 and p=0.024, respectively). Conclusion-Depressed patients with type-D personality are more vulnerable to suicidality than those without type-D personality, even when the MDD severity is identical. In addition, the SI score was higher in patients with a history of suicide attempt than in those without this history.

RNA polymerase II C-terminal domain phosphatase 1 containing ubiquitin like domain (UBLCP1) has been identified as a regulatory molecule of RNA polymerase II. UBLCP1 consists of ubiquitin like domain (UBL) and phosphatase domain homologous with UDP and CTD phosphatase. UBLCP1 was cloned into the E.coli expression vectors, pET32a and pGEX 4T-1 with TEV protease cleavage site and purified using both affinity and gel-filtration chromatography. Domains of UBLCP1 protein were successfully purified as 7 mg/500 mL (UBLCP1, 36.78 KDa), 32 mg/500 mL (UBL, 9 KDa) and 8 mg/500 mL (phosphatase domain, 25 KDa) yielded in LB medium, respectively. Isotope-labeled samples including triple-labeled (2H/15N/13C) UBLCP1 were also prepared for hetero-nuclear NMR experiments. 15N-1H 2D-HSQC spectra of UBLCP1 suggest that both UBL and phosphatase domain are properly folded and structurally independent each other. These data will promise us further structural investigation of UBLCP1 by NMR spectroscopy and/or X-ray crystallography.
제주 세계자연유산 3개소에 대한 공공시설물 색채현황 - 한라산천연보호구역, 성산일출봉, 거문오름 용암동굴계 만장굴을 중심으로

Mt. Halla Protected Natural Area, Seongsan Sunrise Peak, and Geomunoreum Lava Tube System of Jeju were inscribed on the World Natural Heritage List and have got a global recognition. Since the inclusion on the World Natural Heritage List, the annual number of visitors to Mt. Halla, Seongsan Sunrise Peak, and Manjang Cave- outstanding tourist sites of Jeju- has been more than 4 million. With this in mind, a study on the color trends of these public facilities was conducted. Public facilities are significant in that they show the general image of public space and the colors of public facilities show one integrated image of public space. In line with this, the continuous preservation of World Natural Heritage sites of Jeju, sharing better experiences with visitors, and the promotion of Jeju are essential. The objective of this study is to do research on the color trends of public facilities in World Natural Heritage sites and improvement methods. The study space included 3 sites; Mt. Halla Protected Natural Area, Seongsan Sunrise Peak, and Geomunoreum Lava Tube System- World Natural Heritage sites of Jeju. The study contents were existing public facilities. After a field study, the colors of public facilities were analyzed. As for study methods, the general status of public facilities (location, materials, construction date, construction method) was reviewed. Then, a current condition examination and check lists for the color study of facilities were done. 163 public facilities were reviewed and their pictures were taken. After excluding overlapping colors, 40 colors were drawn. They were GY, YR, Y, G, PB, B, BG, and R colors. Most public facilities showed mid brightness and mid-high saturation tones. In order to apply the color of public facilities in harmony with surrounding landscape, the structure, characteristics, and location of facilities should be considered at the public facilities design plan stage. Moreover, the color design in harmony with surrounding landscape is necessary.
Charging scheduling problem of an <i>M</i>-to-<i>N</i> electric vehicle charger

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This study investigates a real case of charging scheduling of an electric vehicle charger with multiple ports called <I>M</I>-to-<I>N</I> charger. The charger is designed for a multi-unit dwelling facility and can charge <I>N</I> electric vehicles simultaneously despite the supplied charging capacity being limited to only <I>M</I> electric vehicles. The electric vehicles arrive at the charger randomly and stay for their desired length of time, during which they must be charged as much as possible with minimum electric cost. The scheduling problem considers four objectives: maximizing the total charging amount, minimizing the total charging cost, minimizing the charging completion time, and maximizing the charging balance among the electric vehicles. A mixed-integer linear programming model and a relaxation-based heuristic algorithm are developed. Computational experiment results show that the proposed heuristic algorithm can generate schedules within 8 s for this case study by using an open-source linear programming solver. Compared with the mixed-integer programming algorithm, the proposed heuristic algorithm can provide solutions with less than 7% charging amount gap and 4% price gap. The proposed heuristic algorithm is successfully implemented in a real <I>M</I>-to-<I>N</I> charger.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> We propose an economically efficient <I>M</I>-to-<I>N</I> electric vehicle charger. </LI> <LI> The charger can charge multiple electric vehicles simultaneously with limited charging capacity. </LI> <LI> A mixed-integer linear programming model for charging scheduling is developed. </LI> <LI> An efficient relaxation-based heuristic algorithm is developed. </LI> </UL> </P>

The district heating pipes operate under 120℃ of temperature and 16kgf/㎠ of internal pressure, thus it is highly desirable that the effect of long-term cyclic thermal-mechanical loadings in the pipes must be investigated for its durability. The foam pad is considered as an integral part of the district heating pipe system which is acted upon by repetitive cyclic loading combined with the reactive ground friction causing the foam pad to lose its strength. This, in general, results in creeping of the pipe. This article, experimentally investigates the creep characteristics of the pipe using long-term loading test device. Radial creep compression tests are performed for the three types of pipe specimens - conventional pipe, thickness increased carrier pipe and reinforced PUR insulated pipe - to identify and compare the pipes based on their respective compressive strength.

After the IMO (International maritime organization) announced GHG (green-house-gas) reduction plans, marine engine makers were confronted with a serious challenges on their fixture businesses. According to the Plan, every ships in operation in the sea must reduce its GHG emissions by 70%. Thus, a radical transition is inevitable from the residual oils into the gas fuels, which is eventually hydrogen or ammonia rather than LNG fuel. Between the zero carbon fuels, ammonia is on the spotlights to abate GHG emission from ships. Ammonia emits only water and nitrogen theoretically but both unburned ammonia and nitric oxides are also found in reality. This can raise another emission issue. In this study, many low flash point fuels such as LPG, CNG, and hydrogen in addition to ammonia were investigated to draw a feasible option for the low GHG emissions from the internal combustion engine. As a result, ammonia can be easily supplied into the diesel engine and it substituted some diesel so that the same amount of carbon dioxide emission is reduced from the test engine without any significant increase of NOx emission. Not only ammonia but also different low flash fuel mix showed better combustion characteristics to reduce engine emissions than ammonia-diesel case.
