        Biophysicochemical Properties of E - PHA

        Many papers have been reported on PHA lectins from the extracts of Phaseolus vulgaris. And a purification of EL-PHA, having both erythro- and lymphoagglutinating activity, also reported previously. But there are no evidences on the separation, purification and characterization of pure E-PHA, which have only erythroagglutinating activity and free from L-subunits. The authors' interests are focused on this E-PHA. Salt fractionated extracts of Phaseolus vulgaris was purified through ion exchange chromatography on DEAE Sephadex A-50, hydroxyapatite column and EL-PHA was obtained. EL-PHA was treated with 4M urea just prior to the application into CM sephadex column. This column was eluted with P.B. and obtained mainly pure E-PHA along with minor amounts of L-PHA. Isolation of E-PHA and L-PHA was identified by erythroagglutinating test with human blood A type and lymphoagglutinating test with mouse spleen lymphocytes. In order to characterize biophysicochemical properties of the E-PHA, erythroagglutinating activity, polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, sodium dodecyl sulfate gel electrophoresis, sugar inhibition test were performed. For immunochemical studies, antisera to EL-PHA, E-PHA were prepared by immunizing rabbit. Immunodiffusions with these antisera were carried out.

        Floristic characteristics of vascular plants and first distributional report of Pseudostellaria baekdusanensis M. Kim in Yongneup wetland protected area

        Yongneup wetland protected area, the only high moor in Korea, is a core area to conserve biodiversity. Even though the Yongneup wetland protected area is relatively small, various plant species are distributed in the Yongneup wetland protected area because it includes various habitats showing different environmental gradients. Vascular plants distributed in the Yongneup wetland protected area were identified as a total of 376 taxa that is composed of 73 families, 217 genera, 322 species, 3 subspecies, 44 varieties and 7 forms. For endangered plants designated by the Ministry of Environment, 5 species including Trientalis europaea var. arctica, Lilium dauricum, Halenia corniculata, Lychnis wilfordii and Menyanthes trifoliata were found and 34 taxa were confirmed to be distributed only in the mountainous wetland habitats. Regarding naturalized plants, a total of 11 taxa were distributed, but most of them were distributed in the areas where artificial interference has occurred. And in areas inside the wetlands that are relatively well preserved, 2 species of Bidens frondosa and Erigeron annuus were observed. In this study, the occurrence and distribution of Pseudostellaria baekdusanensis M. Kim, which was recently found in Mt. Baekdu and reported as a new species, were identified in the Yongneup wetland protected area. A wetland is a very vulnerable area to drastic environmental changes and damages to its ecosystem could cause the extinction of rare plant species which are distributed only in the wetlands. Therefore, it is mandatory that current status of the Yongneup wetland protected area is evaluated and actions to prevent rapid environmental changes are taken. Fourteen separate investigations were conducted in 2013 and another four in 2014, to evaluate current status of the Yongneup wetland protected area. These investigations have provided us the basic information for future actions of conservation and restoration.

        마룡산(406.7m, 울진군)과 대소산(286m, 영덕군) 일원의 관속식물

        지역적인 규모에서 식물다양성의 보전을 위해서는 기초적인 정보가 바탕이 된다. 조사의 결과로 나타나는 식물의 종수는 조사의 면적과 조사지역 내에 분포하는 다양한 생육지의 수와 밀접하게 연관된다. 경상북도 울진군의 마룡산과 대소산 일원에서 각각 9회와 6회에 걸쳐 식물자원을 조사하였다. 조사경로에 다양한 생육지가 포함되도록 계획하였다. 조사의 결과로 마룡산 일원에서는 112과 349속 548종 10아종 34변종 2품종 594분류군이 대소산 일원에서는 89과 270속 400종 9아종 25변종 434분류군이 조사되었다. 21개의 생육지로 구분하여 관찰된 식물을 정리하면 계곡주변의 전이대에 분포하는 식물과 건조한 초원에 분포하는 식물이 높은 비율을 차지하였다. 해안에 위치한 전통적인 묘지는 식물의 주요한 분포지로 기능하였다. 2개 지역에서 한국고유종은 19분류군이 조사되었다. 2개 지역에서 식물구계학적 특정식물종은 Ⅴ등급이 1분류군, Ⅳ등급이 11분류군, Ⅲ등급이 24분류군이 조사되었다. 귀화식물은 총 77분류군이 조사되었고 그중 생태계교란외래식물은 4 분류군이 분포하였다. 마룡산 일원과 대소산 일원에 분포하는 식물에서 나타나는 차이는 먼저 조사지역 내에 분포하는 각각의 생육지 크기 차이에 따른 것으로 판단되었다. 또한 대소산 일원이 주변의 산지와 연결되어 있지 않고 주거지와 경작지에 둘러싸인 고립된 공간에 해당하였기 때문으로 판단되었다. Basic information such as flora and their distribution are the key factors to consider for preserving plant diversity on a regional level. The number of plant species identified through a survey is closely related to the survey area and the number of habitats distributed within the survey area. In this study, we surveyed the flora of Mt. Maryong-san (PH) and Mt. Daeso-san (YH) located in Uljin-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, six and nine times, respectively. We planned to include a variety of habitats in the survey routes. As a result, we identified a total of 594 taxa composing of 112 families, 349 genera, 548 species, 10 subspecies, 34 varieties, and 2 formulas in the Mt. Maryong-san (PH) area and a total of 434 taxa composing of 89 families, 270 genera, 400 species, 9 subspecies, and 25 varieties in the Mt. Daeso-san (YH) area. Of the plants observed in the 21 habitats, the plants distributed in the transition zone around the valley and the dry grassland accounted for the highest proportion. The traditional graveyards located on the coast also served as the major habitat for the distribution of some plant species. In the two graveyards, 19 taxa of endemic plant species were surveyed. Moreover, the identified floristic target species included 1 taxon for grade Ⅴ, 11 taxa for grade Ⅳ, and 24 taxa for grade Ⅲ. A total of 77 taxa of naturalized plants were identified, and four of them were invasive alien plants as designated by the Ministry of Environment. The differences in the plants distributed in the area of Mt. Maryong-san (PH) and Mt. Daeso-san (YH) were mainly due to the difference in the size of each habitat distributed within the survey area. Moreover, it was judged that the entire vicinity of Mt. Daeso-san (YH) was not connected to the surrounding mountains and was an isolated area surrounded by farmland and residential areas.

        백암산(1,004m, 울진군) 일원의 관속식물

        지역적인 규모에서 식물자원을 조사하고 평가하는 것은 대상 지역에 대한 식물다양성의 보전을 위한 기초적인 정보이다. 그럼에도 관심도가 높지 않은 지역에 대한 조사는 충분하지 않다. 본 연구는 비교적 관심도가 높지 않은 한반도 중남부에 위치한 백암산(1,004m) 일원의 식물자원을 조사하였다. 총 9회의 조사를 통해 108과 339속 572종 12아종 49변종 5품종 638분류군이 관찰되었다. 환경부 지정 멸종위기야생식물은 1분류군이 조사되었고 한국고유종으로는 총 29분류군이 조사되었다. 식물구계학적특정식물종은 Ⅴ등급이 1분류군, Ⅳ등급이 13분류군, Ⅲ등급이 36분류군, Ⅱ등급이 29분류군 그리고 Ⅰ등급이 34분류군으로 조사되었다. 귀화식물은 총 38분류군이 조사되었고 그중 생태계교란 외래식물은 3종이 분포하였다. 백암산을 중심으로 서쪽과 동쪽에 분포하는 식물에서 차이가 있었다. 백암산의 정상과 능선 및 서쪽지역에서 멸종위기야생식물 및 보전가치가 높은 식물이 주로 관찰되었다. 분포하는 식물을 고려해 볼 때 낙동정맥 상에 위치한 백암산은 식물의 확산경로로 기능하였다고 추정되었다. Investigating and evaluating regionally distributed plant resources provide fundamental information (inventory) to conserve plant diversity in target areas. Nevertheless, the examination of inventory to collect information in areas with little interest has been insufficient. In this study, the vicinity of Mt. Baegamsan (1,004m) was investigated for plant resources in the central and southern part of the Korean peninsula, which has received low interest. Nine surveys identified a total of 638 taxa consisting of 108 families, 339 genera, 572 species, 12 subspecies, 49 varieties, and 5 forms. One taxon was designated to be the endangered wild plant by the Ministry of Environment, and a total of 29 taxa were designated to be endemic species in Korea. Floristic target species identified by the surveys included 1 taxon for grade V, 13 taxa for grade Ⅳ, 36 taxa for grade Ⅲ, 29s taxa for grade Ⅱ, and 34 taxa for grade Ⅰ. A total of 38 taxa were identified to be naturalized plants, and 3 of them were designated as invasive alien plants by the Ministry of Environment. There was a difference in plant distribution between western and eastern areas of Mt. Baegamsan. The endangered and valuable plants for conservation were mainly identified from Mt. Baegamsan peak area, the ridge, and the western area. Considering the plant distribution, the Mt. Baegamsan region, located on Nakdong-jungmaek, was estimated to be dispersal routes for plant expansion and retreat.

        Distribution Characteristics, Population Structure and Dynamics of the Endangered Plant, Viola websteri Hemsl.

        식물 종은 주어진 환경조건과의 상호작용의 결과로 현재와 같은 특성을 나타낸다. 제비꽃속의 식물은 적응전략으로 개방화와 더불어 왕성한 영양번식체계를 선택하였거나 또는 폐쇄화를 발달시키는 전략을 선택하였다. 왕제비꽃은 제비꽃 속의 식물로 세계적으로 한반도와 중국 지린(길림)성의 동부에만 분포한다. 분포의 중심과 가장자리는 서로 다른 개체군 동태를 나타낼 것으로 예상된다. 왕제비꽃이 복합적인종자생산전략(Mixed-mating strategy)을 소유함에도 현재와 같은 제한적인 분포를 나타내는 원인을 알아볼 필요가 있다. 먼저 우리는 분포지의 식생환경을 조사하여 그 특성을 평가하였다. 식물계절학을 통해 생장특성을 알아보았다. 또한 개체군의 구조, 개방화의 결실특성, 폐쇄화의 생산성을 평가하였다. 그리고 2014년과 2018년 사이의 개체군크기 변화를 비교하였다. 분포지의 대부분은 계곡에 인접한 낙엽활엽수혼효림의 식생하부에 위치하였다. 4∼5월에 자가불화합성의 개방화를 생산하였고 6∼9월까지 폐쇄화를 생산하였다. 폐쇄화의 생산은 불확실한 환경변화에서 종자의 생산을 보증하기 위한 전략으로 평가되며 개방화에 비해 약 2배의 생산량을 나타내었다. 개체군의 구조는 안정적인 지역과 매우 불안정한 지역이 구분되었다. 2014년에 비해 2018년의 조사에서 개체군의 급격한 감소를 경험한 지역이 존재하였다. 이러한 큰 폭의 감소는 가장자리 개체군에서 크게 나타나는 것으로 평가되었다. 왕제비꽃 분포지는 가뭄이라는 자연적인 교란 요인과 분포지를 구성하는 기질에 따른 다양한 미소입지의 존재로 다양한 식물을 부양하였다. 이러한 불확실한 조건에서 폐쇄화를 통해 종자의 생산을 보증하고 그에 따라 자연적인 교란요인이 제거되었을 때 빠르게 유묘의 재정착과 개체군의 보충이 가능한 것으로 판단되었다. 그리고 환경요인은 모든 개체군 및 개체군 내의 모든 개체에 동일하게 작용하지 않는 것으로 추정되었다. 따라서 지역적으로 급격한 개체수의 감소에도 불구하고 완전한 소멸에 이르지 않을 것이고 환경의 변화에 따라 국지적인 소멸과 재정착이 반복될 것으로 예상되었다. 우리는 본 연구를 통해 수집된 종의 특성에 대한 정보를 바탕으로 추가적인 분포지의 조사가 필요함을 제안하였다. 또한 효과적인 보전 전략의 수립과 시행을 위해서는 보다 장기적인 개체군 동태와 개방화와 폐쇄화의 유전적 특성을 평가하는 것이 필요함을 제안하였다. Plant species exhibit current characteristics as a result of interactions with environmental conditions. The plants of Viola sp. have selected chasmogamous flowers with vigorous vegetative propagation or development of cleistogamous flowers as an adaptation strategy. Viola websteri is distributed on the Korean peninsula and the eastern part of Jilin Province, China. The center and edge of the distribution are expected to exhibit different population-dynamics. It is necessary to investigate the cause of its current limited distribution even though V. websteri has a mixed-mating strategy. Firstly, We examined the vegetation environment of habitats and evaluated its characteristics. Growth characteristics were examined through plant phenology. We then evaluated the population structure, characteristics of chasmogamous flowers, and productivity of cleistogamous flowers. Moreover, we compared population sizes between 2014 and 2018. Most habitats were located in deciduous broadleaf mixed forests adjacent to valleys. V. websteri produced chasmogamous flowers with self-incompatibility in April-May and cleistogamous flowers in June-September. The cleistogamous flower production is a strategy ensuring seed production under uncertain environmental fluctuations; these were approximately twice as numerous as chasmogamous flowers. The population structure was distinguished into stable and very unstable regions. There were sites where the population experienced a sharp decline in the 2018 compared to that of 2014. This large decline was found in the edge populations. The habitats had different microsites depending on the natural disturbances of drought and the matrix constituting the habitat, thus supporting various plants. Ensuring the production of seeds through cleistogamous flowers, it was determined that rapid seedling re-establishment and population replenishment were possible when the natural disturbance factor was removed. Environmental factors did not equally affect all populations or individuals. Therefore, it was expected that it would be able to persisted in a long time, despite the rapid decrease in the number of individuals in the population regionally. Local extinction and re-establishment are likely to repeat according to environmental change. We propose the additional population investigation based on this works are required. We also suggest a need to assess the long-term population dynamics and the genetic characteristics of chasmogamous flowers and cleistogamous flowers to establish and implement effective conservation strategies.

        저널리즘 텍스트의 상호매체적 스토리텔링 전략 연구

        이 글은 미디어 생태계 전반에서 발견되는 ‘상호매체적 관계맺기’ 현상들 중 저널리즘 분야에서 활발히 벌어지고 있는 미디어의 운동방식과 전략을 살펴보기 위해 기획되었다. 분석 대상으로는 미디어 생태계 안에서 서로 다른 영역에 머물러 있던 매체성이 접촉 및 융합하여 지금과는 전혀 다른 형태와 성격의 상호매체적 스토리텔링 전략을 보여주고 있는 <포트 맥머니>, <원전 회의록>을 선택하였다. <포트 맥머니>는 다큐멘터리 영화와 디지털 게임이, <원전 회의록>은 신문과 웹툰, 인터랙티브 미디어의 특성들이 관계맺기를 통해 공적 담론을 생산하고 있었다. 분석은 텍스트, 수용구조의 측면으로 나누어 진행했다. 먼저 텍스트적 특성의 경우, <포트 맥머니>는 현실에 대한 비판적 성찰을 촉구하는 공적담론을 전달하기 위해 다큐멘터리와 디지털 게임을 결합하고 있었다. 실제 포트 맥머리의 모습을 담은 영상을 기반으로 게임적 인터페이스를 결합시키는 형태의 상호매체적 스토리텔링 전략이 사용되었다. <원전 회의록>은 수용자가 텍스트 진행에 직접 참여할 수 있도록 웹툰의 세로 스크롤방식, 하이퍼링크 등을 활용해 공적담론을 보다 효율적으로 전달하고 있다. 수용구조의 측면에서 두 사례는 텍스트 안에서의 참여를 넘어 수용자로 하여금 텍스트 바깥에서의 참여를 요구하고 있다. 게임로직, 공유 인터페이스등을 통해 수용자들은 가상공간에서 현실공간으로 참여의 폭과 깊이를 더하고 있었다. This article was designed to examine the methods and strategies of intermedial storytelling text going on actively in the field of journalism. 〈Fort McMoney〉, 〈Nuclear Power Meeting Minutes〉 were selected to comprehensively observe the characteristics of intermedial storytelling strategies. There were intermedial relationships in two cases: 〈Fort McMoney〉- digital game, documentary, 〈Nuclear Power Meeting Minutes〉- newspaper, webtoon, interactive media. Analysis was conducted by dividing the text, the acceptance structure. In textual aspects 〈Fort McMoney〉 combines documentary image in actual world and digital game interface to deliver public discourse. 〈Nuclear Power Meeting Minutes〉 combines the vertical scrolling presentation method of webtoon, hyperlinks and on-line news platform. In acceptance process, two cases were designed so that audiences can freely take part in the text inside and outside. Through game-logic, share interface etc, audiences were adding to the depth and breadth of participation from the virtual space into real space.

        선천성 감섬유증 1예

        We experienced a case of congental hepatic fibrosis in a 21-year-old Korean male. He had frequent episodes of esophageal variceal bleeding. His liver and kidney functions were preserved. He had cystic lesions on both kidneys. A diagnosis of congenital hepatic fibrosis was made by an inferior venacavogram and peritoneoscopic liver biopsy. A Kobayashi operation was performed for esophageal varices. He had no more variceal bleeding and his general condition was good after operation.
