Objectives: The aim of this study is to explore and investigate the status of EMR currently used in Korean medical institutions and the suitability of the existing certification criteria for Korean medicine EMR certification. Methods: The survey was conducted using a related questionnaire from September to October 2022. The survey for current status and the suitability of the existing certification criteria was conducted separately between Korean medical institutions and Korean medicine EMR companies. Results: In a survey of Korean medical institutions on the current status of EMR, more than 80% answered that the imaging system and Korean medicine EMR could be linked. Most medical institutions did not exchange clinical information between institutions. When asked about the intention to develop standard EMR of Korean medicine in the future, 57% of institutions answered ‘yes’. In future, if Korean medicine EMR certification criteria are developed, all EMR companies are willing to develop the EMR that satisfy them. Looking at the satisfaction survey of the existing EMR certification criteria of the Korean medicine EMR system, it was found that high/low satisfaction was shown in various areas, and in particular, the overall clinical information exchange function was insufficient. Conclusion: In order to introduce the Korean medicine EMR certification criteria, it must be considered of the current status of EMR and applicability of Korean medicine EMR for establishment of Korean medicine standard EMR certification criteria. By developing Korean medicine EMR certification criteria, high-quality medical services can be provided to medical consumers who want Korean medical treatment.

<P>The present study is designed to investigate the neuroprotective effect of a kind of phlorotannins, diphlorethohydroxycarmalol (DPHC) isolated from Ishige okamurae against hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2))-induced oxidative stress in murine hippocampal neuronal cells, HT22. H(2)O(2) treatment induced neurotoxicity, whereas DPHC prevented cells from H(2)O(2)-induced damage then restoring cell viability was significantly increased. DPHC slightly reduced the expression of Bax induced by H(2)O(2) but recovered the expression of Bcl-xL as well as caspase-9 and -3 mediated PARP cleavage by H(2)O(2). Intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and lipid peroxidation was overproduced as the result of the addition of H(2)O(2); however, these ROS generations and lipid peroxidation were effectively inhibited by addition of DPHC in a dose-dependent manner. Moreover, DPHC suppressed the elevation of H(2)O(2)-induced Ca(2+) release. These findings indicate that DPHC has neuroprotective effects against H(2)O(2)-induced damage in neuronal cells, and that an inhibitory effect on ROS production may contribute to the underlying mechanisms.</P>

Lutein is one of potential antioxidant carotenoids with beneficial effect on health, In this study, we used tidal pool microalgae Halochlorococcum porphyrae to extract and isolate lutein in a simple step. The purity was >90% and the yield was 61.8㎍/g. Therefore, this study reports that H. porphyrae possesses a carotenoid pigment, lutein.
Antioxidant Effect of Enzymatic Hydrolyzate from a Kelp, Ecklonia cava

The potential antioxidative activity of water-soluble enzymatic hydrolyzates from a kelp, Ecklonia cava was evaluated by free radical scavenging and lipid peroxidation assays. To prepare water-soluble hydrolyzates from E. cava the seaweed was enzymatically hydrolyzed by five carbohydrases (Viscozyme, Celluclast, AMG, Termamyl and Ultraflo) and five proteases (Protamex, Kojizyme, Neutrase, Flavourzyme and Alcalase). Among all the hydrolyzates, Celluclast hydrolyzate effectively scavenged free radicals released from DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2- pricrylhydrazyl) and recorded around 73% scavenging activity at the concentration of 4 mg ${\cdot}ml^{-1}$. This hydrolyzate was thermally stable and DPPH radical scavenging activity remained 80% or higher at heating temperatures of 40 and 60$^{\circ}C$ up to 12 h and around 80% at 100$^{\circ}C$ up to 8 h. AMG and Ultraflo hydrolyzate inhibited the lipid peroxidation of fish oil as that of $\alpha$-tocopherol. These results suggested that an enzymatic extraction will be an effective way for the production of a potential antioxidant from seaweeds.

<P>We propose a polarizer-free liquid crystal display (LCD) with an electrically switchable microlens array. The incident lights are controlled to focused or defocused states by index matching of the lens polymer and LC layer. By adopting two light-blocking masks that have a circular stop pattern and the complementary open pattern, the LCD was able to realize the entire gray scale. Additionally, to achieve fast response time characteristics, we introduce polymerized RMs within the alignment layers.</P>
