The present study was undertaken to compare the pharmacological activity of crude Cnidii Rhizoma reported with the clinical uses in the oriental medicine. Crude Cnidii Rhizoma used for the treatment of anemia, body chill, menstural irregularity and menstural pain as hematic tonic effector, sedative, adodyne and clear extravasated blood. Therefore we tested the effects of Cnidii Rhizoma water extract on the liverprotective activities in the rats. The results obtained form liver microsomal enzyme assay, measurement of serum and liver alanine, aspartate aminotransferase and lipid accumulation indicated that Cnidii Rhizoma extract showed significant liver-protective activities against benzo(a)pyrene poisoning.

It is necessary to provide sufficient daylighting for the high quality lighting in interior space. In these days various kinds of daylighting systems are developed and applied to buildings, however the difference of the purpose of an object room and a physical environment makes the Daylighting system to be unuseful. Therefore it is necessary to estimate the performances of the Daylighting system using the Computer program to apply the Daylighting system usefully. The purpose of this study is to develop the computer program using the Monte Calro Method and Ray-tracing technique to estimate the performances of the Daylighting system in interior space and the consumption of electric energy by dimming control of electric lighting. The accuracy of the computer model was validated through measurements with physical scale models under real clear sky conditions.

Recently, various daylighting systems have been developed and applied to buildings However, existing daylighting systems are of no practical use due to a high initial cost and difficulties in maintenance In addition, there is a main problem of securing sufficient additional space for collecting daylight and to be available in the overcast sky A wall-integrated daylighting system, which is the subject of this study and doesn't need additional space for collecting daylight, is a very useful daylighting system, because it can substitute for a vertical wall of a building The purpose of this study was to evaluate the daylighting performance of the wall-integrated daylighting system using two mock-up models The performance of the general windows were compared with that of the wall-integrated daylighting system placed on the windows in terms of illuminance distribution on the work plane at the height of 75cm and illuminance distribution on the south wall Also The purpose of this study is to find methods to minimize glare problems of a newly developed wall-integrated daylighting system A total of six glare reduction methods were comparatively tested through measurements with physical scale models The six glare reduction methods included light-guiding ceiling, planer light shelf, parabolic light shelf, horizontal louvers, vertical louvers and prismatic panel, all of which were attached to the wall-integrated daylighting system The measurements were conducted under direct sunlit conditions for the winter solstice, summer solstice and the equinox

민간에서 주로 사용되는 약용식물들 중 간독성 의 발현 저해 및 간기능 보호 효과가 우수한약물을 찾아 임상적인 약효를 밝혀보고자 하는 실험과정으로 탄소화합물의 불완전 연소및 열분해에 의해 생성되는 간장해 물질인 benzo(a)pyrene으로 유도한 rats의 간독성발현에 미치는 천궁 수침액의 예방 및 치료 효과를 실험하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 천궁 수침액의 투여는 B(a)P 투여로 현저하게 증가된 혈청 및 간장의 AST, ALT,LDH, ALP 활성을 유의성 있게 감소시켰다. 2. B(a)P 투여로 증가한 혈청 total cholesterol 및 phospholipid 함량은 천궁 수침액의투여로 감소시킬 수 있었으나 그 효과는 현저하지 않았다. 3. 천궁의 투여는 B(a)P에 의한 간독성 발현을 유의성 있게 감소시켰으며 그 효과는전처리가 후처리에 비해 우수하였다. Benzo(a)pyrene에 의해 유도된 간기능 장해에 미치는 세신 추출액의 영향

탄소화합물의 불완전 연소 및 열분해에 의해 생성되는 다환방향족 탄화수소로 간 실질세포에서 cytochrome P_450에 의해 산화되는 간장해 물질인 benzo(a)pyrene으로 유도한 rats의간독성 발현에 미치는 세신 수침액의 예방 및 치료 효과를 실험한 결과 세신 수침액의 투여는B(a)P 투여로 현저하게 증가된 혈청 및 간장의 transaminase 활성을 유의성 있게 감소시켰으며 그효과는 조직에서 보다 우세하였다. 그러나 세신 수침액이 B(a)P투여로 증가한혈청 total cholesterol과 phospholipid 함량을 감소시킬 수는 있었지만 그 효과는 약하여 지질대사에는 세신의 작용이 미미할 것으로 보인다. Effects of Asiasari Radix, which is herbal drug used frequentlyin the oriental prescriptions, water extract on the liver-protective activities wereinvestigated in the rats. Asiasari Radix water extract, when administered intothe gastric intubation, produced liver-protective effect against benzo(a)pyreneinduced liver damage. The results obtained from enzyme assay, measurement of serum and liveralanine aspartate aminotransferase(AST, ALT) and lipid composition indicatedthat Asiasari water extract showed significant liver-protective activities againstbenzo(a)pyrene-induce hepatotoxicity.

A kinetic study on nucleophilic substitution reactions of phenyl Y-substituted-phenyl carbonates (5a-5j) with ethylamine in 80 mol % $H_2O$/20 mol % DMSO at $25.0{\pm}0.1^{\circ}C$ is reported. The plots of $k_{obsd}$ vs. [amine] are linear for the reactions of substrates possessing a strong electron-withdrawing group (EWG) but curve upward for those of substrates bearing a weak EWG, indicating that the electronic nature of the substituent Y in the leaving group governs the reaction mechanism. The reactions have been concluded to proceed through a stepwise mechanism with one or two intermediates (a zwitterionic tetrahedral intermediate $T^{\pm}$ and its deprotonated form $T^-$) depending on the nature of the substituent Y. Analysis of Bronsted-type plots and dissection of $k_{obsd}$ into microscopic rate constants have revealed that the reactions of substrates possessing a strong EWG (e.g., 5a-5f) proceed through $T^{\pm}$ with its formation being the rate-determining step, while those of substrates bearing a weak EWG (e.g., 5g-5j) proceed through $T^{\pm}$ and $T^-$.

<P>The microstructure and characteristics of silicon-incorporated diamond-like carbon film, fabricated using a radio-frequency plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition process with hexamethyldisilane [(CH3)3,Si x Si(CH3)3:HMDS] gas as a silicon source, were investigated. Diamond-like carbon films with silicon compositions from 0 to 5 atomic percent were deposited onto ultra-fine grained AZ31 magnesium alloy substrate as buffer layers or multilayers. Si doping led not only to an increase in the bonding ratio (sp3/sp2), but improvements in hardness, critical adhesion, and corrosion resistance. Out of the investigated samples, the multi-deposited silicon diamond-like carbon thin film on magnesium substrate showed the best combination of adhesive, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance properties.</P>
