컴퓨터 赤外線 全身體熱撮影과 FNT을 통해 살펴본 Bell's palsy에 대한 침치료의 臨床的 考察

Object : This study is designed to evaluate the clinical therapy of acupuncture by the data of DITI(Digital Infrared Thermographic Imaging) and FNT(Facial Nerve stimulation Test) examination and the changes of clinical symptoms after the therapy of acupuncture in the patients with Bell's palsy. Contents : The conservative therapy with acupuncture was performed during 1-8weeks. The acupuncture points of S4, S6, G14, S2, BL2, SI18, TE23, LI4 and S36 were used. In the pre- and post therapy, DITI examinations was performed in patients who had Bell's palsy and were treated by acupuncture, and then tried to correlate the results of clinical symptoms with the difference of thermographic findings. And FNT examinations were performed in the same patients above, and then tried to correlate the results of clinical symptoms with the difference of nerve response findings. Setting : The standard routine thermographic examination with thermography (DITI) and nerve response with FNT(Facial Nerve Stimulation Test) were performed in the 16 patients with Bell's palsy at pre- and post acupuncture. Patients : Thermographic imaging of 16cases was analyzed. They had diagnosed Bell's palsy. They were treated by acupuncture and moxibustion therapy in Wonkwang Oriental Hospital from Jauary, 1999 to February, 2000. Results : 1) The results of treatment showes that 56.25% of patients achieved clinical excellent recovery and 31.25% achieved good recovery. After compairing the DITI results before and after treatment, we found 43.75% of patients achieved excellent recovery and 43.75% achieved good recovery. 2) After compairing the FNT results before and after treatment, we found 25% of patients achieved excellent recovery and 56.25% achieved good recovery. Conclusion : 1) Acupuncture showed good results over 87.5% in clinical evaluation and 87.5% in DITI. Thermographic examination showes terapeutic effect of acupuncture treatment. 2) Acupuncture showed good results over 87.5% in clinical evaluation and 81.25% in FNT. FNT showes nerve response recovery effect of acupuncture treatment.

Effect of aging condition on the microstructure and hardness properties of Al-3Li, Al-3Li-2Cu, Al-3Li-2Cu-0.3Zr have been studied. The alloy ribbons have been prepared by means of Single Roll Melt Spinning by rapid solidification technique. In rapidly solidified Al-3Li-2Cu, Al-3Li-2Cu-0.3Zr alloy ribbons show the icosahedral intermetallic compound of five-fold symmetry which is placed in cell-bound-ary and matrix. In the matrix precipitated fine δ'(Al₃Li) phase. Heat-treated at 250℃ 1hr. In this condition, δ'(Al₃Li) phase started decompose. The icosahedral intermetallic compound has been grown. When heat-treated at 300℃ 1 hr, the δ' phase has been decomposed all. In the matrix, icosahedral intermetallic compound has been grown greatly. The micro-hardness has been obtained more high Al-Li-Cu-(Zr) alloy than Al-Li alloy. Strength-hardended phenomena showed to solution hardning by the addition of Cu. When the heat-treated at 250℃ 1 hr, in the alloy of Zr addition, delayed decomposed δ' phase. In the case, micro-hardness gradually decreased. When the heat-treatment have done at 300℃ 1 hr, the micro-hardness has been decreased because δ' phase decomposed all.
Relationship between stress levels and treatment in patients with temporomandibular disorders

Objectives: Stress may have an impact on treatment types that patients receive for temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). This study sought to investigate the relationship between the stress index and type of treatments in patients with TMD. Materials and Methods: The psychosocial well-being index-short form (PWI-SF) was used to evaluate stress levels in ninety-two patients with TMD. Treatment types were classified into two groups: one group received counseling, physical therapy or medication, while the second group received splint therapy or surgical intervention. Results: The high-risk group (PWI-SF≥27, the higher the points, the more severe the stress level) was more frequently treated by splint therapy than the low-risk group (PWI-SF<27). Female TMD patients reported higher PWI-SF scores than male TMD patients. Conclusion: This study suggests a relationship between stress levels and treatment types for patients with TMD. Thus, the appropriate evaluation and management of stress could be an important factor in treating TMD.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Schwann cells (SCs), the primary glia in the peripheral nervous system (PNS), display remarkable plasticity in that fully mature SCs undergo dedifferentiation and convert to repair SCs upon nerve injury. Dedifferentiated SCs provide essential support for PNS regeneration by producing signals that enhance the survival and axon regrowth of damaged neurons, but the identities of neurotrophic factors remain incompletely understood. Here we show that SCs express and secrete progranulin (PGRN), depending on the differentiation status of SCs. PGRN expression and secretion markedly increased as primary SCs underwent dedifferentiation, while PGRN secretion was prevented by administration of cAMP, which induced SC differentiation. We also found that sciatic nerve injury, a physiological trigger of SC dedifferentiation, induced PGRN expression in SCs in vivo. These results suggest that dedifferentiated SCs express and secrete PGRN that functions as a paracrine factor to support the survival and axon growth of neighboring neurons after injury.</P><P><B>Main Points</B></P><P>Schwann Cells (SC) induce the expression of PGRN after sciatic nerve injury, a physiological process that triggers SC dedifferentiation.</P>

<P>Photo-response switching of the CdS films grown at an optimum condition for the photo-sensor applications was investigated by an application of the electrical field. Recovery to the original dark-resistance after a light-off was achieved for 60 s by an application of the electrical field (∼30 V) in the two electrodes structure. On the other hand, in the structure of three electrodes, after application of −10 V for microsecond at third electrode at a light-off state, the dark-resistance was recovered to its original value for three second. An application of the negative electrical field in the three electrodes structure remarkably improved the switching characteristics of the photo-response of the CdS films.</P>
Real-time Ray-tracing Chip Architecture

In this paper, we describe the world's first real-time ray-tracing chip architecture. Ray-tracing technology generates high-quality 3D graphics images better than current rasterization technology by providing four essential light effects: shadow, reflection, refraction and transmission. The real-time ray-tracing chip named RayChip includes a real-time ray-tracing graphics processing unit and an accelerating tree-building unit. An ARM Ltd. central processing unit (CPU) and other peripherals are also included to support all processes of 3D graphics applications. Using the accelerating tree-building unit named RayTree to minimize the CPU load, the chip uses a low-end CPU and decreases both silicon area and power consumption. The evaluation results with RayChip show appropriate performance to support real-time ray tracing in high-definition (HD) resolution, while the rendered images are scaled to full HD resolution. The chip also integrates the Linux operating system and the familiar OpenGL for Embedded Systems application programming interface for easy application development.
