Urticaria pigmentosa is the most common form of mastocytosis and is a general term applied to local and systemic accumulations of mast cells. A case of urticaria pigmentosa is a 48 years old male patient with rather typical cutaneous manifestations, is presented with a review of the literature. Presenting symptoms on admisson were hyperpigmented maculo-papular eruptions on entire skin surface except face and general weaknees and pruritus approximately 6 months durations. Physical findings referable to urticaria pigmentosa were cutaneous lesions with positive Darier's sign. Laboratory data and roentgenogram of the chest showed non specific fidings but diverticulum on middle portion of the esophagus. Biopsy findings of the affected skin & muscle supported the clinical diagnosis of urticaria pigmentosa. He had no evidence of suspected lesions of malignancy. He had been placed on steroid therapy and other symptomatic measures without remarkable improvement.
한국인에서 Lipoprotein lipase gene polymorphism의 빈도와 혈관질환과의 관계

Background : Lipoprotein lipase(LPL) is a key enzyme in the metabolism of serum triglycerides(TG) which is utilized in the peripheral tissue as free fatty acid and stored in adipose tissue. LPL gene is consisted of 10 exons which encode 475 amino acids and over 9 LPL gene polymorphisms have been reported. It's polymorphisms are related to the lipid levels and the severity of atherosclerosis in the coronary artery disease. In Korea, LPL polymorphisms has not been reported yet. This study is purposed on the incidences of LPL gene mutations and on it's relationships with blood lipid levels and the severity of atherosclerosis. Methods : Our subjects were consisted of three groups, normal controls(n=50), coronary artery disease(CAD, n=51) and cerebrovascular disease(CVD, n=52). The PCR amplified genomic DNA from peripheral white blood cell were analyzed with restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLP by two different restriction enzyme(PVU II, Hind III). Results : Total cholesterol(TC) were higher in CVD than in controls and in CAD (203±60mg/ dl vs 188±37, 167±42, p<0.01). Triglyceride(TG) were also elevated in CAD(166±65mg/dl vs 122±62 in controls, p<0.05). HDL cholesterol(HDL-C) were higher in controls than in CVD and CAD(49±9mg/dl vs 36±10, 44±9, p<0.05). The incidences of Hind III RFLP and PVU II RFLP has no differences among groups. Only HDL-C was elevated in Hind III RFLP(-/-) homozygotes. Conclusions : The LPL gene mutations in intron 6 and 8 have no direct effects on the lipid profiles and the severity of coronary artery disease. Although LPL is a key enzyme in TG metabolism, two mutations in this study could not change the activity of LPL, nor were not a marker of linked other site mutations. The mutation(s) in exon which encode amino acid for enzyme activity should be detected to analyze the pathophysiology of the atherogenesis.

The term osteomyelitis literally means inflammation of bone marrow. It is described as an inflammatory condition of bone primarily engaging the medullary Following circulatory collapse and ischemia, the involved portions of the bone become necrotic. Cellulitis and osteomyelitis are the most frequent complications of fractures of the mandible and maxilla, because there is an abscessed tooth in the line of fracture. Since most fractures are compound fractures, infection may develop because of contact with oral secretions or outside air. The treatment of chronic osteomyelitis is still under debate. Some authors rely on antibiotics alone, while others advocate combination with surgery. But when infection occurs, establish proper drainage and administer antibiotics. Author treated a case of infected mandibular fracture with mandibular osteotomy, sequestrectomy, iliac bone graft and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, who had suffered suppurative osteomyelitis and mandibular nonunion following the open reduction of the mandibular fracture.

본태성 고혈압환자의 순응도 제고를 위하여 채택한 방책중 의사의 단독개입만으로는 13%의 통원탈락율의 개선, 보험급여 제도의 일부개선만으로는 3%의 악화에 비하여 양자 합동으로는 17%의 개선효과를 보았다. 따라서 진료의사의 좀 더 적극적인 개입과 보험급여의 진료일수제한 철폐가 요망된다. One hundred patients with essential hypertension, consecutively and newly diagnosed, were followed up at hypertension clinic of Paik Hospital to evaluate their compliance for 12 months with combination strategies provided by physician's intervention and extended insurance coverage. Rate of drop-out from reserved visit to clinic were 23% at the end of 3 months, 52% at the end of 12 month, which showed decrease, compared with 26%, and 63% respectively of ordinary management. In conclusion, in order to improve patient's compliance, a positive intervention by physician as well as lifting of insurance limitation should be intensified drastically.

본 연구는 폐기물의 형태로 현재 산과 계곡에 투기되어 있는 석탄페석을 이용하여 중금속 흡착과 난분해성 COD 및 색도제거 가능성을 검토하고, 간단한 열처리를 통한 흡착능 개발 실험을 위하여 수행되었다. 실험 결과 천연상태의 석탄폐석은 약 20∼30%의 중금속 흡착능을 지니고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 탄화 공정인 간단한 열처리 만으로도 약 2 ∼ 5배의 흡착능 향상이 이루어졌다. 그리고 석탄폐석의 열처리 조건 변화에 따른 중금속 흡착능 실험에서는 500℃ 에서 6시간 반응시킨 것이 가장 우수하였다. 칼럼실험에 있어 기존의 입상활성탄 보다 처리효율이 저조하나 석탄폐석은 무가공 상태로도 약 30 ∼ 60%의 COD 및 색도를 제거할 수 있었다. 500℃에서 6시간 열처리된 폐석의 컬럼실험에서 생물학적 유출수의 색도 제거에 우수함을 알 수 있었으며, 중금속 및 COD제거에 있어서는 여과 속도에 따라 많은 차이를 보였다. 본 연구에서는 열처리 공정만 적용한 기초 실험이였으나, 석탄폐석의 흡착제 개발의 가능성을 알 수 있었으며, 활성화 공정을 적용할 경우 흡착능은 더욱 향상될 것으로 판단된다. This reaserch aims to remove the heavy metals, NBDCOD, and color using the coal waste. The expermental by heat treatment. was performed to advance the adsorption capacity. The results are as follows ; ⅰ) The coal waste had the adsorption capacity of heavy metals and the rates were in the range of 20 to 30 percents. ⅱ) The heat treatment was the optimum condition that the reaction time was 6 hours at 500 ℃. ⅲ) In the column experimental, non-treated coal waste removed the COD and color in the range of 20 to 60 percents. ⅳ) Heat-treated coal waste showed the high removal rate of the color in biological effluent, but heavy metal and COD removal rates were changed by the filteration rates.

<P>A push-pull transient current feedforward driver is designed to have a complete push-pull function and loop gain control that enhances the data current drivability. The sink and source current capability of the proposed driver makes it insensitive to the initial voltage levels on the data lines and provides a reduced settling time. The gain control in the positive feedback loop offers a fast settling time without ringing over the complete range of pixel drive currents. The data driver exhibits a settling time of better than 6 μs for drive currents from 20 nA to 5 μA into an equivalent full-HD AMOLED display panel parasitic load of 4 kΩ series resistance and 90 pF shunt capacitance. The driver consumes a static current of 4.5 μA/channel.</P>

Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 alpha ($eIF2{\alpha}$), which is a component of the eukaryotic translation initiation complex, functions in cell death and survival under various stress conditions. In this study, we investigated the roles of $eIF2{\alpha}$ phosphorylation in cell death using the breast cancer cell lines MCF-7 and MCF-7/ADR. MCF-7/ADR cells are MCF-7-driven cells that have acquired resistance to doxorubicin (ADR). Treatment of doxorubicin reduced the viability and induced apoptosis in both cell lines, although susceptibility to the drug was very different. Treatment with doxorubicin induced phosphorylation of $eIF2{\alpha}$ in MCF-7 cells but not in MCF-7/ADR cells. Basal expression levels of Growth Arrest and DNA Damage 34 (GADD34), a regulator of $eIF2{\alpha}$, were higher in MCF-7/ADR cells compared to MCF-7 cells. Indeed, treatment with salubrinal, an inhibitor of GADD34, resulted in the upregulation of $eIF2{\alpha}$ phosphorylation and enhanced doxorubicin-mediated apoptosis in MCF-7/ADR cells. However, MCF-7 cells did not show such synergic effects. These results suggest that dephosphorylation of $eIF2{\alpha}$ by GADD34 plays an important role in doxorubicin resistance in MCF-7/ADR cells.

피로거동 해석은 반복하중에 의한 정하중과는 완전히 다른 응력 곡선을 해석하는 것이며, 특히 재료의 허용하중에 비해 충분히 작은 크기의 하중이라도 장시간 가해지면 재료의 파괴를 불러일으키는 현상을 나타나게 하므로 재료의 수명과 깊은 관련이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 고분자 재료로 제조된 지오그리드가 반복하중의 영향에 어떠한 거동을 보이고 강도 저하가 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 실험을 통하여 분석, 고찰하였다. 그리고 하중-변형 곡선은 아직까지 피로의 시험법이나 판단 규정이 정해져 있지 않으므로 흔히 사용되는 인장강도의 Stress-Strain 곡선 형식으로 지오그리드 특유의 Hysteresis roof를 고찰하였다.
Design method for area-efficient and uniform channel DACs

<P>A current-mode driving scheme has significant advantages over other competing driving method, and the scheme does not require the time-consuming threshold voltage sampling process used in recent voltage-mode driving methods. Design considerations for compact and uniform channel DACs in current-mode AMOLED display data drivers are addressed in detail. Furthermore, an 8 bit area-efficient cascaded-dividing DAC and a 9 bit segmented DAC are designed in accordance with the suggested DAC design method. The presented DACs perform outstandingly when compared in terms of a composite DAC performance that comprises chip area, power consumption, sampling frequency, and DAC bit resolution.</P>
