        Improving Acetabular Component Positioning in Supine Direct Anterior Total Hip Arthroplasty with a Transparency Template: A Novel, Simple, and Cost-effective Technique

        Purpose: A novel and simple method to ensure accurate acetabular component anteversion and inclination intraoperatively with the use of a transparency template is described. Materials and Methods: Patients who underwent total hip arthroplasty (THA) via direct anterior approach (DAA) from June 2019 to January 2020 were included. A transparency template that can be placed over the image intensifier monitor to allow surgeons an accurate reading of the acetabular component position intraoperatively was designed, developed and utilized to determine effectiveness. The first template consists of two perpendicular lines indicating the “trans-ischial line” and the “pubic symphysis/coccyx”. The second template consist of a line indicating 45° inclination and parallel lines of corresponding distances apart required to achieve 20° anteversion based on Lewinnek’s formula: version=sin<sup>-1</sup> (D1/D2), where D1: minor axis and D2: major axis of the component. This template was used throughout the acetabular part of the surgery, from reaming to impaction of component. Postoperative acetabular inclination, anteversion, surgical duration, length of stay, as well as complications were recorded. Results: Twenty-six patients were included in this study. Mean postoperative acetabular cup inclination was 43.46±3.09° and mean version was 19.98±2.89°. A total of 21 patients (80.8%) fell within the Callanan safe zone and all 26 patients (100%) were within the Lewinnek safe zone. Conclusion: The transparency template is a simple, reproducible, and effective tool with a minimal learning curve and no requirement for expensive equipment. This template has the potential to assist surgeons, especially those who are less experienced with DAA THA, in obtaining better postoperative radiographic outcomes.

        Biocontrol of Fusarium Crown and Root Rot and Promotion of Growth of Tomato by Paenibacillus Strains Isolated from Soil

        In this study, bacterial strains were isolated from soils from 30 locations of Samcheok, Gangwon province. Of the isolated strains, seven showed potential plant growth promoting and antagonistic activities. Based on cultural and morphological characterization, and 16S rRNA gene sequencing, these strains were identified as Paenibacillus species. All seven strains produced ammonia, cellulase, hydrocyanic acid, indole-3-acetic acid, protease, phosphatase, and siderophores. They also inhibited the mycelial growth of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. radicis-lycopersici in vitro. The seven Paenibacillus strains enhanced a range of growth parameters in tomato plants under greenhouse conditions, in comparison with non-inoculated control plants. Notably, treatment of tomato plants with one identified strain, P. polymyxa SC09-21, resulted in 80.0% suppression of fusarium crown and root rot under greenhouse conditions. The plant growth promoting and antifungal activity of P. polymyxa SC09-21 identified in this study highlight its potential suitability as a bioinoculant.

        Microstructure evolution and enhanced vacuum tribological performance of Ni-doped WS<sub>2</sub> composite coating

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Ni-doped WS<SUB>2</SUB> composite coatings with various Ni contents were co-deposited using a radio frequency sputtering system on silicon wafer and AISI 440C stainless steel substrates. The microstructural characteristics of the WS<SUB>2</SUB>-Ni composite coatings and their tribological properties in vacuum were assessed. During introduction of Ni dopant in the WS<SUB>2</SUB>-Ni composite coating the sulfur/tungsten (S/W) ratio in the coating increased due to reduced preferential resputtering of sulfur atoms in the growing coating. The microstructure of the WS<SUB>2</SUB>-Ni composite coating varied from a fine columnar structure for Ni content equal to or less than 7.7at.% to a featureless structure as the Ni content increased further. The Ni dopant inhibited the growth of the coarse columnar WS<SUB>2</SUB> platelets which was accompanied by nanocrystallization and amorphization of the composite coating structure. WS<SUB>2</SUB>-Ni composite coatings with fine columnar structure exhibited relatively low hardness but showed a high tendency to form a lubricating transfer layer. It also demonstrated low brittleness and prolonged wear life in vacuum condition compared to coatings with dense featureless structure.       • An Exploration of Underlying Consciousness of Chuan Di Xia′s Settlement Environment

        Beijing Chuan Di Xia can be traced back to Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is located beside the old post way in the west of Beijing. At present, there are more than seventy units of traditional courtyard houses of Ming and Qing Dynasties and the antique features of the surroundings still survive. The dwelling suited to the historical and regional context and the profound cultural values accumulations etc., have precious historic and cultural values. Associated with the investigation of Chuan Di Xia, the paper explores the site selection, the layout, the spatial constructiveness and the underlying consciousness of Chinese traditional dwellings, unveils the common philosophic basis of traditional dwellings and offers new though for sustainable human settlements.

        Pimecrolimus increases the melanogenesis and migration of melanocytes in vitro

        Vitiligo is an intriguing depigmentary disorder and is notoriously difficult to be treated. The ultimate goal of vitiligo treatment is to replenish the lost melanocytes by immigration from hair follicle and to restore the normal function of melanogenesis by residual melanocytes. There are two types of topical calcineurin inhibitors called tacrolimus and pimecrolimus, and are recommended as the first-line treatments in vitiligo. Although pimecrolimus is efficacious for the repigmentation of vitiligo, its intrinsic mechanisms have never been investigated in vitro. This research aimed to study the ability of pimecrolimus on stimulating melanogenesis, melanocyte migration and MITF (microphthalmia associated transcription factor) protein expression. Results showed that pimecrolimus at the dosages of 1, 10, $10^2$nM were neither mitogenic nor cytotoxic to melanocytes. The addition of pimecrolimus at 10, $10^2$ and $10^3nM$ significantly increased intracellular tyrosinase activity, which was consistent with the elevated content of melanin content at the same concentrations. The peak effect was seen at 72 h in response to $10^2$nM pimecrolimus. Results of the wound scratch assay and Transwell assays indicate that pimecrolimus is effective in facilitating melanocyte migration on a collagen IV-coated surface. In addition, MITF protein yield reached the highest by pimecrolimus at $10^2nM$. In brief, pimecrolimus enhances melanin synthesis as well as promotes migration of melanocytes directly, possibly via their effects on MITF protein expression.

        A Study of the SPWM High-Frequency Harmonic Circulating Currents in Modular Inverters

        Due to detection and control errors, some high-frequency harmonics with voltage-source characteristics cause circulating currents in modular inverters. Moreover, the circulating currents are usually affected by the output filters (OF) of each module due to their filter and resonance properties. The interaction among the circulating currents in the modules increase the power loss and reduce system stability and control precision. Therefore, this paper reports the results of a study on the SPWM high-frequency harmonics circulating currents for a double-module VSI. In the paper, an analysis of the circulating-current circuits is briefly described. Next, a mathematic model of the single-module output voltage based on the carrier frequency of SPWM is built. On this basis, through mathematic modeling of high-frequency harmonic circulating currents, the formation mechanism and distribution characteristics of circular currents and their influences are studied in detail. Finally, the influences of the OF on the circulating currents are studied by mainly taking an LC-type filter as an example. A theoretical analysis and experimental results demonstrate some important characteristics. First, the carrier phase shifting of the SPWM for each module is the major cause of the SPWM harmonic circulating currents, and the circulating currents are in an odd distribution around n-times the carrier frequency nωs, where n = 1, 2, 3, …. Second, the harmonic circular currents do not flow into the parallel system. Third, the OF can effectively suppress the non-circulating part of the high-frequency harmonic currents but is ineffective for the circulation part, and actually reduces system stability.

      • Fibulin-5 is a Prognostic Marker that Contributes to Proliferation and Invasion of Human Glioma Cells

        Fibulin-5 has recently been considered as a potential tumor suppressor in human cancers. Several studies have shown that it is down-regulated in a variety of tumor types and inhibits tumor growth and metastasis. This study was aimed to investigate the clinical significance of fibulin-5 in glioma and its role in cell proliferation and invasion. We found that the expression of fibulin-5 in glioma tissues was significantly lower than those in normal brain (NB) tissues. Negative expression was significantly correlated with advanced clinical stage (grade III+IV). Furthermore, Fibulin-5 negative expression was correlated with a shorter overall survival of glioma patients. Multivariate Cox repression analysis indicated that fibulin-5 was an independent factor for predicting overall survival of glioma patients. Overexpression obviously inhibited cell proliferation in U251 and U87 cells. Furthermore, it significantly reduced the number of migrating and invading glioma cells. In conclusion, impaired expression of fibulin-5 is correlated with the advanced tumor stage in glioma. Otherwise, Fibulin-5 is an independent prognostic marker for predicting overall survival of glioma patients. Mechanistically, it may function as a tumor suppressor via inhibiting cell proliferation and invasion in gliomas.

        Correlation between population size of pear Psylla (Cacopsylla chinensis) and leaf structure features in different pear cultivars

        The feeding preference of pear psylla (Cacopsylla chinensis) varies among pear cultivars. To clarify whether leaf structural factors are related to C. chinensis resistance, eleven pear cultivars of three pear species and their hybrids in China were studied. The population size of C. chinensis in plots of different cultivars was investigated, and leaf paraffin sections of each pear cultivar were observed. Correlation analysis results showed that the thickness of palisade tissue (PT) and the thickness ratio (TR) of PT to leaf (L) were the main factors influencing resistance to C. chinensis. The leaves of cultivar Wujiuxiang and those species from France and the USA exhibited the thickest PT and the highest TR; these three cultivars demonstrated much higher resistance to C. chinensis than did the other cultivars. The cultivar Gold Nijisseiki, with a large C. chinensis population size, showed low PT and TR. The findings of this study may provide valuable information to pear growers, experts and scientists regarding plant protection, cultivation and breeding when selecting suitable varieties to culture from the perspective of pest control.

        In this paper, according to the work mechanism of SteamJet, With the certain small scaled turbojet for an influence, along flying trajectory calculating mass of import air and injection water, establishing the spray physics model/ mathematics model. Based on the equation of three-dimension Renault average N-S, air to adopt the limited physical volume method, the liquid adopts to the Lagrangian orbit model, with straight injecting the current method ,Simulate the field of air/ liquid two phase flow field to distribute of inlet to carry on mutually. The results indicate that spray have an effect on flow field configuration. It is concluded that the numerical model and CFD method for modeling spray flow processes in gas/liquid injector will be satisfactory. Similar to the SteamJet the United States puts forward, adopting water injection can satisfy to import the conditional request for pressure and temperature of compressor.
