A novel synergic adsorption process of acid blue 80 dye (AB80) and heavy metal ions (Cu2+ or Ni2+) on alow-cost activated carbon (PRAC) which was prepared from potato residue was reported. The resultsindicated that the maximum adsorption capacity of PRAC for AB80 and Cu2+ were 294.7 mg/g and45.0 mg/g in the AB80-Cu2+ system, respectively. In the mono-component system, the values were173.0 mg/g and 26.8 mg/g, respectively. Compared with mono-component system, the AB80 and Cu2+showed good synergistic effect on PRAC. The similarly result was revealed in the AB80-Ni2+ system. For abinary system, the adsorption isotherm of AB80 and heavy metal ions followed the non-modified Sipsmodel, and the adsorption kinetic models followed the pseudo-second order kinetic model. The effect ofpH also was discussed, and showed significant role in the binary-component system adsorption. Theselectivity in synergic adsorption was discussed. BET, FE-SEM/EDX and XPS were used to characterizePRAC with and without adsorbed dye and heavy metal ions, possible mechanisms of AB80 and heavymetal ions synergic adsorption process were proposed.

This paper proposes a computationally efficient algorithm, FBS (Fast Binary Segmentation), for both single and multiple change point detection under high-dimensional setups. As a general technique, it can be widely used in various change point problems including mean vectors and covariance matrices change point models. Based on various ℓ(s,p) -norm aggregations for the cumulative sum (CUSUM) statistics, the new algorithm can be applied to a wide range of alternative structures including sparse and dense settings as special cases. We present the essence of the new algorithm. The efficiency and accuracy of the new algorithm are justified via comparing it with the other existing techniques. Lastly, a real data application further demonstrates the usefulness of our method.

In this paper, we consider two estimators, a hard thresholding wavelet estimator and a block thresholding wavelet estimator, for the regression function in heteroscedastic nonparametric model with negatively super-additive dependent (NSD) errors. The random design distribution is known or unknown, and the corresponding adaptive properties of these estimators are investigated over Besov spaces, for the L2 risk. The results indicate that the block thresholding estimator is theoretically and computationally superior to the hard thresholding estimator with the former attains the optimal convergence rates, while the later achieves the nearly optimal convergence rates. Thus the block thresholding estimator provides extensive adaptivity to many irregular function classes even though with the presence of heteroscedastic NSD errors.
Hydrophobic Waterborne Epoxy Coating Modified by Low Concentrations of Fluorinated Reactive Modifier

Fluorinated (meth) acrylate oligomer modified epoxy resin (PHFBMA-DGEBA) and polyether-modified epoxy resin (MPEG-DGEBA) were successfully synthesized and used as reactive modifier and emulsifier for epoxy resins, respectively. GPC, FTIR and 1H NMR were employed to verify the synthesis. The influence of both the concentration and the molecular weight of PHFBMA-DGEBA on the properties of waterborne epoxy resin coatings was investigated. Surface energy and surface composition were probed by contact angle measurements and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), which strongly confirmed the enrichment of fluorinate atoms on the surface. The surface energy of waterborne epoxy coating was decreased from 44.46 mN/m to 23.20 mN/m by adding just 0.09 wt% PHFBMADGEBA- 2, indicating its high effectiveness in improving the surface hydrophobicity. Moreover, the physical properties of waterborne epoxy coatings prepared with different concentration and molecular weight of fluorinated reactive modifier, such as water absorption, Shore D hardness, adhesion, thermal properties and optical transmittance, were also analyzed in detail. Taken together, the waterborne epoxy coatings prepared with low concentrations of reactive modifier are economical and have great potential in large scale industry applications.
Few-Layered MoS2 Nanostructures for Highly Efficient Visible Light Photocatalysis

Few-layered MoS2 nanostructures were successfully synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method without the addition of any catalysts or surfactants. Their morphology, structure and photocatalytic activity were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, electrochemical impedance spectra and UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, respectively. These results show that the MoS2 nanostructures synthesized at 180℃ exhibit an optimal visible light photocatalytic activity (99%) in the degradation of Rhodamine B owing to the relatively easier adsorption of pollutants, higher visible light absorption and lower electron–hole pair recombination.

Background Keratin-associated protein (KAP), the structural protein molecule of hair fibers, plays a key role in determiningthe physical properties of hair. Studies of Krtap11-1 have focused only on its localization. Functional studies of Krtap11-1in hair follicle development have so far not been reported. Objective This study aimed to provide evidence for the role of Krtap11-1 in skin and hair development. Methods Full-length cloning and analysis of Krtap11-1 were conducted to ascertain its function. Overexpression vectors andinterference sequences were constructed and transfected into RAB-9 cells. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR) was used to investigate the hair follicle developmental stage of Krtap11-1, the expression of different tissues,and the effects on other hair follicle development-related genes. Results The full length of cloned Krtap11-1 was 947 bp. Krtap11-1 was confirmed to be a hydrophilic protein localizedmostly in mitochondria. The greatest mRNA expression was observed in skin. Using a follicle synchronization model, itwas found that Krtap11-1 mRNA expression levels first increased then decreased over the passage of time, principally duringhair follicle catagen and telogen. Following the overexpression of Krtap11-1, mRNA expression levels of the WNT-2,KRT17, BMP-2, and TGF-β-1 genes increased, and LEF-1 decreased (P < 0.05), the converse after the corresponding useof si-RNA interference. Conclusions Krtap11-1 exerts a promoting effect. The results provide novel insight into the relationship between hair follicledevelopment and Krtap11-1 gene expression.
