Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the surgical outcomes of unilateral medial rectus recession and lateral rectus resection(R&R) for patients with large-angle deviations of acute acquired concomitant esotropia (AACE) without a neurologicaldisease. Further, we have also suggested the surgical dosage of R&R for large-angle deviations of AACE. Methods: This was a retrospective study of patients with AACE who underwent surgery and followed up after surgery for atleast 6 months between September 2016 and March 2020. Among them, patients with ocular deviations of ≥30 prism diopters(PD) who underwent unilateral R&R were included. Results: Seventeen patients with AACE were enrolled in this study (mean age, 23.5 years; four females). The mean amount ofdeviation was 40.00 PD at distance and near (range, 30–55 PD). Fifteen patients (88.2%) had myopia. The mean interval betweenthe initial visit and surgery was 7.7 months (range, 4–20 months). All included patients had resolved diplopia after thesurgery. Most patients with decreased stereoacuity displayed stereoacuity recovery after surgical treatment. At the final visit(mean follow-up period, 12.8 months), the mean angle of esodeviation was 0.82 PD (range, 6–0 PD) at distance and 0.47 PD(range, 4–0 PD) near. No patient displayed over-correction or adduction limitations in the operated eye. Conclusions: The unilateral R&R procedure presented favorable surgical outcomes for patients with large-angle deviations ofAACE. These results and proposed surgical dosage guidelines may be useful for surgeons in planning the surgical treatment oflarge-angle deviations of AACE.
Why people experience virtual world equals why people travel

This study conflates the motivation of why people travel with that of why people use virtual world. We adapt the concept of liminoid in tourism field in that liminoid plays a role as a threshold through which people enter the different world. We subsequently propose the idea of how human behaves in the liminal status in virtual world by mirroring the tourists’ behaviors in travel sites. We explain the two possible behaviors: Prosaic, and Inversionary based on the previous research.

본 연구는 차세대 방송통신 융합 서비스의 대표적인 분야 중의 하나인 모바일 TV 산업의 해외 현황을 권역별로 시장, 정책, 서비스 제공자 등의 다각적인 관점에서 분석함으로써 정부 기관에서 관련 정책을 수립하는데 도움을 주고 국내 기업들이 그 결과를 국내외에서 모바일 TV 사업을 전개하는데 바로 활용할 수 있도록 하기 위해 수행되었다. 본 연구의 결과가 시사하는 점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 국내 기술이 모바일 TV 국제 표준으로 채택 될시 막대한 경제적 효과를 가져 올 수 있으므로 정부의 강력한 지원과 국내 기업의 적극적인 해외 진출이 요구된다. 둘째, 모바일 TV의 성공 여부는 구현 기술 보다는 수익창출을 위한 비즈니스 모델에 달려 있다는 점이다. 셋째, 경쟁력 있는 컨텐츠 개발과 확보가 불확실한 모바일 TV 서비스의 수익 딜레마를 극복하기 위한 해결책이라는 것이다. This study was performed to help government build polices and domestic companies use the results directly for their business by analyzing the mobile TV industry overseas, which is one of the representative next generation convergence services of broadcasting communications, from the different perspectives of regional area, market, policy and service provider. Results of this study suggests the following aspects: Firstly, government"s strong supports and domestic companies" active advance to abroad are needed due to that huge economical effects are expected when domestic technologies are adopted as international standards of mobile TV. Secondly, the success of mobile TV more depend on business models that generate revenue than technologies. Thirdly, the solution to overcome the uncertain revenue dilemma of mobile TV is to develop and secure the competitive contents.

<P>Despite recent progress in producing flexible and stretchable electronics based on two-dimensional (2D) nanosheets, their intrinsic properties are often degraded by the presence of polymeric residues that remain attached to the 2D nanosheet surfaces following fabrication. Further breakthroughs are therefore keenly awaited to obtain clean surfaces compatible with flexible applications. Here, we report a method that allows the 2D nanosheets to be intrinsically integrated onto flexible substrates. The method involves thermal decomposition of polymeric residues by microwave-induced ultrafast heating of the surface without affecting the underlying flexible substrate. Mapping the C=O stretching mode by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy in combination with atomic force microscopy confirms elimination of the polymeric residues from the 2D nanosheet surface. Flexible devices prepared using microwave-cleaned 2D nanosheets show enhanced electrical, optical, and electrothermal performances. This simple technique is applicable to a wide range of 2D nanomaterials and represents an important advance in the field of flexible devices.</P>

Purpose: A prospective phase II trial was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and toxicity of regional hyperthermia and whole liver irradiation (WLI) for numerous chemorefractory liver metastases from colorectal cancer. Materials and Methods: Enrolled patients had numerous chemorefractory hepatic metastases from colorectal cancer. Five sessions of hyperthermia and seven fractions of 3-gray WLI were planned. Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) was determined using the Korean version of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer quality of life questionnaire C-30 and the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Hepatobiliary version 4.0. Objective and pain response was evaluated. Results: A total of 12 patients consented to the study and the 10 who received WLI and hyperthermia were analyzed. WLI was completed as planned in nine patients and hyperthermia in eight. Pain response was partial in four patients and stable in four. Partial objective response was achieved in three patients (30.0%) and stable disease was seen in four patients at the 1-month follow-up. One patient died 1 month after treatment because of respiratory failure related to pleural metastasis progression. Other grade III or higher toxicities were detected in three patients; however, all severe toxicities were related to disease progression rather than treatment. No significant difference in HRQoL was noted at the time of assessment for patients who were available for questionnaires. Conclusion: Combined WLI and hyperthermia were well tolerated without severe treatment-related toxicity with a promising response from numerous chemorefractory hepatic metastases from colorectal cancer.
