Soluble epoxide hydrolases (sEH) are enzymes present in all living organisms, metabolize epoxy fatty acids to 1,2-diols. sEH in the metabolism of polyunsaturated fatty acids plays a key role in inflammation. In addition, the endogenous lipid mediators in cardiovascular disease are also broken down to diols by the action of sEH that enhanced cardiovascular protection. In this study, sEH inhibitory guided fractionation led to the isolation of five phenolic compounds trans-resveratrol (1), trans-piceatannol (2), sulfuretin (3), (+)-balanophonin (4), and cassigarol E (5) from the ethanol extract of the seeds of Passiflora edulis Sims cultivated in Vietnam. The chemical structures of isolated compounds were determined by the interpretation of NMR spectral data, mass spectra, and comparison with data from the literature. The soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) inhibitory activity of isolated compounds was evaluated. Among them, trans-piceatannol (2) showed the most potent inhibitory activity on sEH with an IC50 value of 3.4 mM. This study marks the first time that sulfuretin (3) was isolated from Passiflora edulis as well as (+)-balanophonin (4), and cassigarol E (5) were isolated from Passiflora genus.

International payment is an essential part of the economy, which is beneficial to both commercial banks and trading enterprises. Moreover, service quality, which has been a key point of discussion for decades, relates to customer satisfaction. This study aims to investigate the factors influencing international payment service quality at the Join Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) from 2015 through 2019. This research deploys both quantitative and qualitative methods to discuss the effects of these components. Statistical data was examined through different tests, including reliability analysis, correlation, and regression analysis by SPSS 16.0. The authors obtain and analyze 157 valid responses from customer surveys, then by applying an integration SERVPERF and PSQM model, identify five main components: Reliability, Tangibles, Assurance, Convenience, and Responsiveness, which explain how the customer perceives the service quality of international payment activities at BIDV. The results show that these five factors have a positive relationship with service quality, in which, Reliability has the most significant impacts on service quality level. Besides, the findings not only contribute to the literature but also give some practical implications for BIDV to improve its international payment service quality and help them to obtain customer satisfaction in the fast-changing environment.

The development of the ethnic minorities and mountainous areas (EMMA) is currently receiving the attention of countries around the world. This is demonstrated through a large number of studies, in many respects, in many different countries. The objective of the study is to find out the current situation of the commodity market in the ethnic minorities and mountainous areas (EMMA) of Vietnam. In particular, the authors will study whether there is a link between the ability to access governmental policies and the characteristics of this commodity market. To achieve the goal, the authors employed the secondary data collection method to gather the relevant information on government policies for EMMA and conducted an interview of seventy (70) enterprises in the Northern midlands and mountainous regions and the Central Coast to clarify the characteristics of commodity market. By Levene’s test, the results showed that the accessibility to governmental policies has a certain influence on the development of the commodity market patterns in the EMMA in terms of diversification of distribution forms and sales method of the business. These findings brought some basic solutions to further enhance the role of the government in developing commodity markets in the EMMA of Vietnam.

Endophytic fungi are promising sources for the production of podophyllotoxin-an important anticancer compound, replacing depleted medical plants. In this study, the endophytes asso- ciated with Dysosma difformis-an ethnomedicinal plant species were isolated to explore novel sources of podophyllotoxin. Fifty-three endophytic fungi were isolated and identified by morphological observation and ITS-based rDNA sequencing, assigning them to 27 genera in 3 divisions. Fusarium was found the most prevalent genus with a colonization frequency of 11.11%, followed by Trametes (9.26%) and Penicillium (7.41%). Phylogenetic trees were constructed for the endophytic fungi community in two collection sites, Ha Giang and Lai Chau, revealing the adaptation of the species to the specific tissues and habitats. Cytotoxic activity of endophytic fungal extracts was investigated on cancer cell lines such as SK-LU-1, HL-60, and HepG2, demonstrating strong anti-cancer activity of six isolates belonging to Penicillium, Trametes, Purpureocillium, Aspergillus, and Ganoderma with IC50 value of lower than 10 mg/mL. The presence of podophyllotoxin was indicated in Penicillium, Trametes, Aspergillus and for the first time in Purpureocillium and Ganoderma via high-performance liquid chromatography, which implied them as a potential source of this anti- cancer compound.

Thi Thu Trang Tran,민병선,Thi Yen Nguyen,Manh Hung Tran,원권연,우미희 한국생약학회 2014 Natural Product Sciences Vol.20 No.3
The purification of the MeOH extracts from the aerial parts of Aceriphyllum rossii Engler (Saxifragaceae) using column chromatography furnished fourteen compounds (1 - 14). The chemical structures of the isolated compounds were determined using mainly nuclear magnetic resonance spectra and mass spectrometry. All the isolated compounds were tested for their cytotoxic activity against LH-60, MCF-7 and HeLa cancer cells in vitro using a MTT assay method. Compounds possessing an olean-triterpenoid skeleton entirely exhibit dose dependent cytotoxic activity. These findings partially confirmed the anticancer effect of this medicinal plant, suggesting a further study on the anticancer potential of the triterpenoid structure in compounds from this plant.
ADVANTAGES AND SHORTCOMINGS FROM A CULTURAL PERSPECTIVE
TRAN Thi Thu Luong 조선대학교 국제문화연구원 2013 국제문화연구 Vol.6 No.1
From a cultural perspective, the paper analyzes advantages of the Korean-Vietnamese relation brought about by cultural similarities which foster its development as well as the differences between the two cultures which have caused shortcomings and challenges to the relation. 1. Similarities: • Both the traditional Korean and Vietnamese culture are agriculture-based and full of humanities with distinctive features: sensibility, sophistication, harmony with nature, and the capacity for love and spiritual matters. • Both are peripheral satellites in the sphere of influence of the two great cultural centers, China and India, which leave a profound impact on traditional Korea and Vietnam, namely the centralized feudalist model of state organization, Confucianism, the Chinese language, and Buddhism. These cultural similarities are advantages in the Korean-Vietnamese relation which promote a special development in recent years. 2. Differences: The Korea and Vietnamese cultures are both ancient with thousands of years of development in different natural and social contexts, and hence, have different identities. Therefore, the existence of differences in the cultural life of the two nations is common and inevitable. However, the major difference that has hindered the Korean-Vietnamese relation in recent years lies mostly in the discrepancy in the modernity level of the two cultures originating from the unequally developed labor force of each nation. The modern Korean way of life and work culture is an industrialized one with the following features: emphasis on technology, respect for the law, efficiency-orientedness, dynamism, mobility and fast pace. In contrast, the modern Vietnamese way of life and work culture is still tinted with habits and customs of a largely agriculture-based society such as lack of discipline and legal knowledge, ignorance of the law, tardiness, scientific and technological inefficiency, lack of competitiveness, poor foreign language and communication skills, etc. As a result, the most serious shortcoming of the Korean-Vietnamese relation during the past few years is failing to shorten the gap between the development levels of the labor force of the two countries, and to successfully transfer the highly advanced Korean work culture and management practice onto the Vietnamese partner. The most important reason leading to this drawback is both sides are still ill-prepared to effectively support the rapid development in this relation.
