폴리우레탄을 이용한 Thiobacillus sp. IW의 고정화

The immobilization of Thiobacillus sp. IW, the hydrogen sulfide removing bacterium, was studied by using the adsorption and physical capture methods. In the case of immobilization by the adsorption, the type, size, and amount of polyurethane foam were affected by the cell immobilization capacity of supporter. Among supporters, MC-70 was better immobilizing material. The optimum size and amount of polyurethane foam were 5∼8mm and 8g/L, respectively. In the case of immobilization by the physical capture, polyurethane foam could be prepared with the same ratio of modified MDI prepolymer, polyol, and medium with better condition. The optimum size and amount of polyurethane foam were 6∼7mm and 8g/L, respectively. Considering the cell immobilization capacity, the immobilization by physical capture was more effective than the immobilization by adsorption. The immobilization intensity by adsorption was 85% after shaking for 24hrs, whereas the immobilization by physical capture was 92% under the same condit

The thesis deals with petrogenesis relating to environmental changes through emplacement of quartz monzonitic dikes distributed in the Apsan area in vicinity of Daegu, Korea. These dike rocks belongto monzonite series in the mineralogical composition. and their textures are characterized by a wide range of change from porphyritic at the border to more equigranular at the center portion of the dikes. The quartz monzonitic rocks are occurred as ring dikes around quartz monzonite stock exposed in southern portion of the study area. Throgh the consideration of the textural characteristics and crystallization process of the dike rocks, it is supposed that coarse grained plagioclase phenocrysts (about 8㎜ in diameter) might be already grown as almost present size during stoping at deeper level before the stage of uprising as ring dikes, and intermediate (about 3㎜) and fine (about 1㎜) grained phenocrysts might be nucleated and polymerized during development of conical joint and uprising of magma through the joints. In the viewpoint of plagioclase composition, An-content of the plagioclase phenocrysts decreases from border to center portion on several traverses that cross the dikes in different area, which reflects that marginal phase might be emplaced earlier than the inner phase and that degree of reaction between residual magma and plagioclase increases toward center owing to increasing diffusion rate. The continuous uprising of magma might be also revealed by the fact that tendency of accumulation of phenocrysts in central portion by flow differentiation according to crystal dispersive power in the dikes is not visible in the area. Thus, textural characteristics and composition of plagioclase of the dike rocks in the area, could be contributed as some indicators clarifying the process and mechanism of emplacement and environment of solidification of magma, especially the fact according to the important geological event which represents beginning of jointing and formation of dikes.

This is a case report of difficult eruption of succeeding permanent tooth by periapical inflammation of primary tooth. 12-year-8-month-old girl who had been treated by pulpotomy of lower right second primary molar about 4 years ago was recalled for prolonged retention of it. Radiographs showed periapical inflammation of lower right second primary molar and horizontal buccal impaction of succeeding permanent tooth. Right second premolar seemed impossible to erupt so surgical extraction of it was done with removal of lower right second primary molar and resin space maintainer was manipulated for prevention of space closure and elongation of opposing tooth.

This study deals with comprehensive landscape restoration and reorganization of Dagsil Village including physical and cultural resources. Restoration of physical environment, old roads, architecture, gardens, streams, sceneries and Feng-shui tails is planned and existing Village museum is to be relocated to outside of the Village. A Detour road and buffering woods are also planned. As supporting facilities, Confucian cultural exhibition hall, a house for tasting Korean traditional cakes and a village courtyard are to be built. Suggested cultural programs to facilitate development of folklore culture are as follows: learning Feng-shui and field survey, host families for experiencing energy, ceremony restoration and chances of education for garden culture and classics, and festival for Korean traditional cakes.

Objectives : The aim of this study was to examine the behavioral and emotional problems associated with nocturnal enuresis in Korean children. Methods : Three hundred eighteen children with nocturnal enuresis, together with their parents, completed the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL), Disruptive Behavior Disorder Scale according to DSM-IV (DBDS), Children's Depression Inventory (CDI), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children (STAIC), and Piers-Harris Children's Self-Concept Scale (PHCSC). Ninety-three normal students were selected as the control group. Results : Compared to the normal control group, the mean scores with regard to the withdrawn, social problems, attention problems, delinquent behavior, aggressive behavior, externalizing problems and total problems profiles were significantly higher in the nocturnal enuresis group according to the CBCL results. The nocturnal enuresis group also scored significantly higher in the ADHD and ODD profiles of the DBDS. The nocturnal enuresis group was more depressed and anxious than the control group according to the results of the CDI and STAI. The mean score of the PHCSC was significantly lower in the nocturnal enuresis group when compared to the normal control group. Conclusion : The results of this study suggest that children with nocturnal enuresis in Korea have clinically relevant behavioral and emotional problems. The findings support the link between nocturnal enuresis and psychopathology in Korean children.
The rice RING E3 ligase OsHIR1 participates in positive regulation of arsenic and cadmium uptake

The metalloid arsenic (As) and the hevy metal cadmium (Cd) are ubiquitously found at low concentrations in the earth, while high concentrations of the both elements in soil and crop are severe dangerous to human health. We have tried to retrieve RING E3 ligase gene, which is believed to regulate substrate proteins in As or Cd uptake via ubiquitin 26S proteasome pathway, related to inhibit metal ion transport system. A total of 48 rice RING E3 ligases were randomly selected and then conducted semi-quantitative RT-PCR for their expression patterns as exposed to As and Cd treatments. We discovered one gene, Oryza sativa heavy metal induced RING E3 ligase 1 (OsHIR1) that was significantly up-regulated against both treatments. A total of 31 positive interaction clones with OsHIR1 were screened depending on their strong α-galactosidase activity via yeast-two hybrid screen. Bimolecular fluorescence complementation analysis evidenced that the OsHIR1 protein was clearly interacted with each of six partner protein including aquaporin tonoplast intrinsic protein 4;1 (OsTIP4;1) in the plasma membrane. Protein degradation assay showed that OsHIR1 strongly degraded the protein level of OsTIP4;1 via ubiquitin 26S proteasome system. Heterogeneous overexpression of OsHIR1 in Arabidopsis showed As- and Cd-insensitive phenotype. In addition, the transgenic plant showed low levels of As and Cd accumulation than the control plant in leaf and root. Here, we report the novel finding that OsHIR1 E3 ligase positively regulates OsTIP4;1 related to As and Cd uptake.

<P>TiO2 thin films were prepared using electron-beam evaporation method with various oblique angles of 0 degrees, 30 degrees, 60 degrees and 75 degrees. All samples were annealed at 600 degrees C for 1 hour in air and their visible light photocatalytic properties were characterized after nitrogen implantation. The photocatalytic activity of the thin films was evaluated by the photodecomposition of methylene blue. The photocatalytic activity of N-ion implanted TiO2 film deposited with the oblique angle of 60 degrees was considerably enhanced due to high visible light absorption and low charge carrier recombination by sufficient N-ion implantation.</P>
