<P>In the present study, we investigated neuronal death/damage in the gerbil hippocampal CA1 region (CA1) and compared changes in some trophic factors, such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), in the CA1 between the adult and young gerbils after 5 min of transient cerebral ischemia. Most of pyramidal neurons (89%) were damaged 4 days after ischemia-reperfusion (I-R) in the adult; however, in the young, about 59% of pyramidal neurons were damaged 7 days after I-R. The immunoreactivity and levels of BDNF and VEGF, not GDNF, in the CA1 of the normal young were lower than those in the normal adult. Four days after I-R in the adult group, the immunoreactivity and levels of BDNF and VEGF were distinctively decreased, and the immunoreactivity and level of GDNF were increased. However, in the young group, all of their immunoreactivities and levels were much higher than those in the normal young group. From 7 days after I-R, all the immunoreactivities and levels were apparently decreased compared to those of the normal adult and young. In brief, we confirmed our recent finding: more delayed and less neuronal death occurred in the young following I-R, and we newly found that the immunoreactivities of trophic factors, such as BDNF, GDNF, and VEGF, in the stratum pyramidale of the CA1 in the young gerbil were much higher than those in the adult gerbil 4 days after transient cerebral ischemia.</P>

The hot deformation behavior of advanced reduced-activation alloy (ARAA) was investigated using hot torsion tests. Thefl ow stress decreased as deformation temperature increased and as strain rate decreased. The fl ow behavior demonstratedthe typical dynamic recrystallization (DRX). Based on the constitutive analysis of peak stress, the activation energy for hotdeformation was found to be 330.3 kJ mol −1 . Peak stress was analyzed as a function of the Zener–Hollomon parameter, andcalculated and experimental values were in good agreement. A DRX kinetic model for ARAA was derived with deformationconditions based on the Avrami-type model. It was confi rmed that the volume fraction of dynamically recrystallized grainsincreased as deformation temperature increased and as strain rate decreased. The necklace structure and grain boundarybulging were observed in the deformed microstructure of ARAA. The suggested DRX mechanism for ARAA during hotworking is discontinuous DRX.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical effect of the non-pharmacological anti-hypertension method, acupuncture, for hypertensive patients. Methods : 26 patients diagnosed with hypertension were each treated by one of three methods: an anti-hypertension drug(adalat soft capsule), venepuncture, and acupuncture. In cases of rising blood pressure, patients were treated by their one of the three methods, and blood pressure was measured at regular intervals. Result : As for the group of acupuncture treated patients on Young-gol(ling-gu) and Gang-ap-hyul(jiang-ya-xue), readings dropped 18.0mmHg in systolic blood pressure and 6.50mmHg in diastolic blood pressure. This was a greater effect than that seen in the venepuncture treated patients. Blood pressure checked one hour after acupuncture treatment showed a greater difference than blood pressure checked after thirty minutes. Conclusion : Safe reductions in blood pressure were observed through the non-pharmacological method of acupuncture on Young-gol(ling-gu) and Gang-ap-hyul(Jiang-ya-xue).
유아의 소프트웨어 교육 관련 국내 최근 연구의 경향 분석

Objective: This study aims to analyze research trends related to software education for young children, focusing on studies published in Korea from 2016 to 2019 March. Methods: A total of 26 research publications on software education for young children, searched from Korea Citation Index and Research Information Sharing Service were identified for the analysis. The trend in these publications was classified and examined respectively by publication dates, types of publications, and the fields of study. To investigate a means of research, the analysis included key topics, types of research methods, and characteristics of the study variables. Results: The results of the analysis show that the number of publications on the topic of software education for young children has increased over the three years, of which most were published as a scholarly journal article. Among the 26 research studies analyzed, 16 (61.5%) are related to the field of early childhood education or child studies. Key topics and target subjects of the most research include the curriculum development of software education for young children or the effectiveness of software education on 4- and 5-year-old children. Most of the analyzed studies are experimental research designs or in the form of literature reviews. The most frequently studied research variable is young children’s cognitive characteristics. For the studies that employ educational programs, the use of a physical computing environment is prevalent, and the most frequently used robot as a programming tool is “Albert”. The duration of the program implementation varies, ranging from 5 weeks to 48 weeks. In the analyzed research studies, computational thinking is conceptualized as a problem-solving skill that can be improved by software education, and assessed by individual instruments measuring sub-factors of computational thinking. Conclusion/Implications: The present study reveals that, although the number of research publications in software education for young children has increased, the overall sufficiency of the accumulated research data and a variety of research methods are still lacking. An increased interest in software education for young children and more research activities in this area are needed to develop and implement developmentally appropriate software education programs in early childhood settings.

<P>BACKGROUND: Soy yoghurts containing enhanced bioactive isoflavone aglycones were prepared from combinations of yellow (YS) and black soymilk (BS) (YS:BS = 100:0, 70:30, 50:50 and 0:100, v/v) by fermentation with Streptococcus infantarius 12 and Weisellia sp. 4 at 37 °C for 10 h. Sensory properties of the bioactive soy yoghurts were investigated. Furthermore, other characteristics including the contents of isoflavones, viable cell numbers, pH, colour and DPPH radical scavenging activity were investigated.</P><P>RESULTS: One hundred percent YS yoghurt showed the highest scores of all sensory attributes while 100% BS yoghurt was the lowest for colour and smoothness. The overall acceptability scores were 5.9 and 5.2 for 100% YS and 100% BS yoghurts, respectively (9-point scale). The L-values of soy yoghurts decreased as the percentage BS increased, indicating darkening of soy yoghurts. The contents of bioactive isoflavone aglycones (daidzein and genistein) in soy yoghurts remarkably increased (>1300 mg kg<SUP>−1</SUP>) by fermentation. Viable cell numbers and pH of soy yoghurts ranged from 8.4 × 10<SUP>8</SUP> to 9.6 × 10<SUP>8</SUP> CFU g<SUP>−1</SUP> and 4.43 to 4.54, respectively. DPPH radical scavenging activity significantly increased as the percentage BS increased (P < 0.05).</P><P>CONCLUSION: One hundred percent YS yoghurt was better for overall sensory properties while 100% BS yogurt was more bioactive in terms of the isoflavone aglycone contents and DPPH radical scavenging activity compared to other yoghurts. γ-Aminobutyric acid (GABA)는 신경세포 밖으로 분비된 후 GABA 수송체들(GATs)에 의하여 다시 신경세포 안으로 재흡수 된다. 그러나, GABA 수송체들이 어떻게 연접전막의 위치에 안정적으로 존재하는지 또한 어떤 단백질과 결합하여 조절을 받는지는 알려져 있지 않다. 본 연구에서 효모 two-hybrid system을 이용하여 betaine-γ-aminobutyric acid transporter 1 (BGT-1/mGAT2)의 C-말단과 특이적으로 결합하는 Munc-18-interacting (Mint) 단백질을 분리하였다. BGT-1/mGAT2의 C-말단에 존재하는 “T-H-L” 아미노산배열은 Mint2와의 결합에 필수적으로 관여하였다. Mint2은 BGT-1/mGAT2와는 결합하지만, 다른 종류의 GAT와는 결합하지 않았다. 또한 HEK-293T 세포에 Mint2와 BGT-1/mGAT2을 동시에 발현시켜 면역침강한 결과 두 단백질은 같이 면역침강하였으며, 두 단백질은 세포 내에서 세포막 부위에 같이 존재함도 확인하였다. 이러한 결과들은 Mint2가 BGT-1/mGAT2와 결합하여 BGT-1/mGAT2을 조절하는 역할을 함을 시사한다. The action of neuronally released γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is terminated by uptake into the neurons by GABA transporters (GATs). The mechanism underlying the stabilization and regulation of GAT2 has not yet been elucidated. We used the yeast two-hybrid system to identify proteins that interact with and, thereby, regulate betaine-γ-aminobutyric acid transporter 1 (BGT-1/mGAT2). We found an interaction between BGT-1/mGAT2 and Munc-18-interacting proteins (Mints). The “T-H-L” motif at the C-terminal end of BGT-1/mGAT2 was essential for the interaction with Mint2 in the yeast two-hybrid assay. Mint2 bound to the tail region of BGT-1/mGAT2, but not to other GAT members. When co-expressed in HEK-293T cells, Mint2 was co-immunoprecipitated with BGT-1/mGAT2. In addition, we demonstrated the cellular co-localization of BGT-1/mGAT2 and Mint2 in the cells. These results suggest that Mint2 contributes to the regulation of BGT-1/mGAT2.
