Lumbar epidural injections are used to treat chronic and acute pain involving lower extremities. We report a case of intraventricular pneumocephlaus occurring after lumbar puncture. He complains severe bifrontal headache followed by nausea. Brain CT reveals air in the lateral ventricle anterior horn, temporal horn and basal cistern. CSF study shows normal findings.

Study of the complex anatomy and pathology of the temporal bone has traditionally used permitted analysis in only two dimensional computed tomography. Recent technological advances in clinical application of computed tomography have made 3-dimensional reconstruction from consecutive axial tomography possible. This new method improves the assessment and therapy of patients undergoing surgical procedures for disease involving temporal bone. Three dimensional computed tomography was performed in 20 patients, involved the middle ear and temporal bone. 5 examples are demonstrated here and we concluded that this new method improves the display of the location and state of pathology and affords accurate therapeutic and surgical planning.

A 21-year-old woman developed painful left third, fourth and sixth nerve palsy. The retro-orbital pain and ophthalmoplegia were improved after steroid pulse therapy. After six weeks, during took steroid by orally left facial weakness developed. Neurologic examination showed left peripheral seventh cranial nerve palsy. The Tolosa-Hunt syndrome associated with facial palsy is rare condition. So we report a case of Tolosa-Hunt syndrome preceded by ipsilateral facial palsy

Transient global amnesia(TGA) is a transient neurological syndrome presenting total memory impairment. Although the pathophysiology of TGA is not yet clear, it may be associated with migraine or ischemia. A sixty seven year-old woman complained total memory impairment that occurred during migraine attack. The cognitive function test revealed impairment of orientation and memory. Her brain MRI, EEG and SPECT didn’t show any abnormal findings. Therefore TGA may be caused by migraine induced cerebral ischemia.

Abstract - This study describes a method developed to reduce electromagnetic interference induced to bio-potential ECG amplifier with the Driven -Right-Leg circuit when human body contacts earth ground, accidentally. Since the contact between body and earth ground disturbs the presumed operation of the Driven-Right-Leg circuit, the ECG signal includes serious interference level, preventing ECG signal analysis by formal methods. To decrease the current flow to the Driven-Right-Leg circuit, a resistor is added between the output of the circuit and the amplifier common. Experiment has shown that the modified circuit reduces the interference level significantly both during body contact to earth ground (~1/5) and during without contact(~1/2).

This paper shows our study on memory phase detectors, ie digital phase detectors using flipflops. For the purpose of improving metastability performance and delay performance, structure of circuits was designed to have better metastability and aspect ratio was controlled in order to give better delay performance.

Some authors suggest that certain types of surfaces are the origin of such injuries. A few years after the first medical concerns about surfaces were voiced, publications of biomechanical measurements apperared, describing accleration, force, and impact measurement on different types of surfaces. In many sport activities, surfaces can be under very high dynamic load. This was the reason for the development of various methods for impact simulation, like the development of various methods for impact simulation, like the artificial athlete. Furthermore, it is important to collect information about the hardness of new and already existing surfaces in sport arenas. The idea on which this measuring system is based Is as follows: The stiffness of the material can be computed from the kinematics measurd at touch down of a rigid body onto a material sample. The results show the following The result for the artifical surfaces(Synpave ace) is surprising. It is known that these surfaces are much harder than synpave rebound classic, synpave spring. This finding suggests that it may be possible that the subjective impression is used as one criterion in the selection of landing(or style) strategies. The number of subjects in this experiment is too small to make statistically significant conclusions. It is shown analytically that when an object a deformable surface, the acceleration it experiences is inversely propotional to its mass. In future, it need to stress that the interaction between shoe and surface is important, and this aspect has now become well accepted. Considering biomechanical aspect in player's injury, it request Korean Standards for synthetic playing surfaces in sport like ASTM(America Society for Testing & Materials) standards of America, DIN 18035 standards of Germany, BSI standards of U.K.

To investigate the effects of hyperstimulation on the reproductive function, such as number of ovulated oocytes, fertilization rate, rate of blastocyst formation, number of survived implanted fetus, and effect on tubal transfer of embryos, ICR mice were injected intraperitoneally with PMSG, 5 IU and HCG, 5 IU and the comparative study with the control group was undertaken. In addition, mouse embryos, i.e., morulas or blastocysts were transferred to pseudopregnant recipient to investigate whether the embryo stge could effect on implantation rate. The results were as follows: 1. The number of ovulated oocytes after hyperstimulation was significantly increased, compared to the control group. The number of degenerated oocytes was also significantly increased. 2. The fertilization rate after hyperstimulation was not significantly different, compared with the control group. 3. The rate of blastocyst formation after hyperstimulation was significantly decreased, compared to the control group. 4. The number of survived implanted fetus was not significantly different with control group. 5. The speed of embryos’ movement in tube was significantly increased after hyperstimulation. 6. The significant loss of embryos was noticed just before implantation in hyperstimulation group. 7. After embryo transfer to recipient mothers, pregnancy rte with blastocysts was significantly increased, compared to pregnancy rate with morulas. This study suggests that hyperstimulation treatment on mice brings about significant loss of embryos just before implantation and its cause seems to be originated from developmental delay of the embryos.

Postpartum cerebral angiopathy(PCA) is a rare entity with severe initial features, which usually leads to a good outcome. The mechanism of PCA remains uncertain. It is clear that in the puerperium there is an increased susceptibility to arterial vasospasm and factors related to the hormonal events occurring during pregnancy and puerperium are involved. Vasoconstrictive drug, such as bromocriptine, may also be associated with PCA. We report a patient of PCA following bromocriptine medication, who had previous migraine history.
