An experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of supplementary herbal products [Miracle20^ⓡ(M20)] on the performance, nutrient digestibility, small intestinal microflora and serum IgG level in broiler chickens. One thousand one-day-old broiler chickens(Ross^ⓡ) were assigned to five treatments: control(T1), 50ppm chlorotetracycline(CTC; T2), 0.2% M20-S(T3), 0.2% M20-D(M20-S fortified in Angelica gigas, Dioscorea japonica and Schizandra chinensis; T4), 0.2% M20-A(M20-S minus Schizandra chinensis and plus Plellidendron amurense; T5). Each treatment had four replications (two for each sex) of 50 birds. Growth performance was not significantly affected by dietary treatments. The herbal products supplementation tended to improve the weight gain of male broiler chicks, but showed no significant difference. Nutrient digestibilities and ammonia gas level on the litter were not significantly affected by treatments. The colony forming unit(CFU) of CI. perfringens in small intestine was significantly lower in treatments T2 and T5 at 26 days of age while the CFU of E. coli was significantly lower in T3 compared to T1 at 42 days of age(P$lt;0.05). The level of serum IgG tended to increase with dietary herbal products supplementation. These results indicate that dietary herbal products(M20) do not significantly affect growth performance and nutrient digestibilities in broiler chickens but have positive effects on small intestinal microflora and serum IgG level.
Development of S - band Waveguide Valve for PLS 2 - GeV Linac

포항가속기연구소에서는 PIS 2-GeV 선형가속기 클라이스트론의 교체 및 보수시에 사용하기 위하여, 80 ㎿급 S-band의 도파관 밸브를 개발중에 있다. PLS형 도파관 밸브는 결합수단 없이 대전력을 전송할 수 있는 구조로 설계되어, 전력전송에 대한 제한을 받지 않는 특징을 갖는다. 본 도파관 밸브의 주요 구성부는 밀착구동체를 갖는 U자형 도파관부, 두개의 H-코너가 부착된 진공함, 그리고 두개의 Viton O-링이 장착된 진공기밀판으로 이루어져 있다. 시제품용 도파관 밸브의 특성조사 결과, 펄스폭 3.5 μsec, 반복율 30 ㎐에서 65 ㎿의 전략전송을 얻을 수 있었다. 본 논문에서는 PLS 도파관 밸브의 설계 개념, 기계적 특성 및 가공의 순으로 자세히 논할 것이며, 또한 현재까지의 실험결과 및 앞으로의 계획에 대하여 보고하기로 한다. Development of 80 ㎿ S-band waveguide valve is now under way at Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL). It is intended to have easy replacement and quick maintenance for the PLS 2-GeV linac klystrons. We adopt a new design concept which removes a limitation on power transmission. This design is completely different from the traditional one. The new S-band waveguide valve consists of the V-shaped waveguide section with a pushrod assembly, a vacuum chamber with two H-corner sections and a sealing plate with two Viton O-rings. We have achieved a high power transmission of more than 65 ㎿ at a pulse width of 3.5 μsec and a pulse repetition frequency of 30 ㎐. It also shows an excellent reliability of the vacuum seal. We report here on the design considerations, the mechanical features, and the fabrication of our first waveguide valve, the results of our experiments so far, and some of our plans for the near future.

The effect of the thermal fatigue on the transformation temperature and shape recovery of Ti-Ni alloys was investigated utilizing thermal cycling tests, electrical resistivity measurements and the transmission electron microscopy. Three types of heat treatment were used, they were solution treatment at 950℃, aging treatment at 400℃ after the solution treatment and annealing at 400℃ of a 30% cold-worked specimen after the solution treatment(i.e., mechanical treatment). The mechanical treatment was found to be the most effective way to improve the shape memory effect and stabilization of the transformation temperature. Change of the M_s temperature was observed to a certain number of thermal cycles, and the M_s temperature was nearly constant after a critical number of thermal fatigue cycle.

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of soybean oil supplementation on the growth performance, serum lipid composition and serum IgG level in pigs. One hundred and forty four crossbred (Laudrace x Yorkshire x Duroc) pigs, 72 pigs in each sex, weaned at 3 wks of age were randomly allotted to 12 pens of 12 pigs each. four pens, two in each sex, were assigned to each of the three fat treated diets for six weeks (3 wks for prestarter diets and 3 wks for starter diets); soybean oil (SO), soybean oil + tallow (SO + TA) and tallow (TA). Fats were supplemented at the level of 5% for prestarter diets and 4% for starter diets. Although average daily feed intake (ADFI), average daily gain (ADG) and feed conversion ratio (F/G) were not significantly different among treatments, pigs fed TA diet showed highest ADG in prestarter period while pigs fed SO + TA diet showed highest ADG in starter period. The levels of total cholesterol, HDL. cholesterol and IgG in serum were not significantly different among treatments. However, the level of LDL + VLDL-cholesterol was highest in pigs fed SO diet and lowest in pigs fed SO + TA diet while the level of triglyceride was significantly higher in pigs fed TA diet than in those fed SO + TA diet or SO diet. It is concluded that supplementation of SO + TA blend improves growth performance and decrease serum LDL + VLDL-cholesterol and triglyceride of weanling pigs.
이유자돈의 사료 첨가제로서 Copper Chelates(메치오닌, 키토산, 효모)의 효과

본 시험은 이유자돈사료에 Cu-chelates를 첨사시 자돈의 생산성과 혈액지질 및 IgG 수준에 미치는 영향을 측정하기 위하여 실시하였다. 4주령 된 이유자돈 48마리(암·수 각 24마리)를 4처리 4반복으로 반복 당 3마리씩 암수 구별하여 실시하였다. 본 시험에서 사용된 대조구 사료에는 137ppm의 구리가 함유되어 있으며 각 처리구는 대조구사료에 methionine-Cu chelate, chitosan-Cu chelate와 yeast-Cu chelate를 Cu 100ppm 수준에서 각각 첨가하였다. 5주간의 사양기간 동안 증체량은 개체 단위로, 사료섭취량은 pen 단위로 매주 측정을 하였다. 일당 증체량, 사료 섭취량, 사료효율 그리고, 영양소 이용률은 모두 처리간에 유의차를 보이지 않았다. 혈청 내 triglyceride 함량은 chitosan-Cu 처리가 methionine-Cu나 yeast-Cu 처리보다 유의하게 낮았으나 대조구와는 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 혈청 내 cholestrerol 함량은 yeast-Cu 처리가 대조구와 methionine-Cu 처리와는 유의한 차이가 없었다. 혈청 IgG의 함량은 대조구 보다 모든 Cu-chelate 처리구에서 낮게 나타났다. 결론적으로 Cu 137ppm의 대조구 사료에 Cu 100ppm 수준에서 첨가한 Cu-chelates는 이유자돈의 증체량, 사료섭취량과 사료효율에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았으나, 혈청 내 지질의 조성과 IgG 함량에는 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. An experiment was conducted to study the effects of the dietary Cu sources on the performance of the weanling pigs. Forty-eight, 24 in each sex, weeks old pigs were assigned to four treatments; control, methionine-Cu chelate, chitosan-Cu chelate or yeast-Cu chelate. Control diet contained 136ppm Cu to which additional 100ppm Cu in different chelated form added to the respective treatment. Individual pig weight and feed intake of each pen were recorded weekly for 5 weeks. Average daily feed intakes(ADFI), average daily gains(ADG) and ADFI/ADG were not significantly different among treatments. Nutrient availability was not also significantly affected by treatments. Serum triglyceride concentration of chitosan-Cu treatment was significantly lower than those of methionin-Cu and yeast-Cu treatments but was not significantly different from that of the control. Serum cholesterol concentration of yeast-Cu was significantly lower than those of the control and methionine-Cu but was not significantly different from that of chitosan-Cu treatment. Serum HDL-cholesterol concentration was not significantly affected by treatments. Serum IgG concentrations of all copper treatments were significantly lower than that of the control. It was concluded that Cu-chelates supplemented to the basal diet (136ppm Cu) by the level of 10ppm Cu did not significantly affect growth performance of weaning pigs. However, serum parameters of cholesterol, cholesterol and IgG were significantly affected by the treatments.
Design and Test Results of High-Power Pulse Generator System for Industrial Accelerator Application

A conventional linear accelerator system requires a flat-topped pulse with less than ± 0.5% ripple to meet the beam energy spread requirements and to improve pulse efficiency of RF systems. A a line-type pulsed modulator is widely used in pulsed power circuits for applications such as accelerators, radar, medical radiation, or ionization systems. The high-voltage pulse generator system with an output voltage of 284 ㎸, a pulse width of 10 ㎲, and a rise time of 0.84 ㎲ has been designed and fabricated to drive a klystron which has 30-㎿ peak and 60-kW average RF output power. The high-voltage test was performed using the klystron load. This thesis describes the design and test results of high-power pulse generator system for industrial accelerator application. The experimental results were analyzed and compared with the design.
