Effect of Sesbania Incorporation as Nitrogen Source on Growth and Yield of Whole Crop Barley and Reduction of N Fertilizer in Saemangeum Reclaimed Tidal Land

It is known that the poor soil fertility of newly reclaimed saline soils is due to the lack of organic matter and available mineral nutrients for crop production. The effect of green manuring with Sesbania aculeata in combination with five rates of urea-N treatments (N0. N25, N50, N75, N100) on the productivity of a subsequent whole-crop barley and the fertility of the reclaimed saline soil in Saemangeum was evaluated in the field during 2013-2014 growing season. Sesbania was grown during summer season (June to October). The amount of Sesbania incorporated was 16.2 Mg ha<SUP>-1</SUP>. Sesbania contributed to 393 kg N ha<SUP>-1</SUP> to the soils when ploughed down and incorporated before whole-crop barley cultivated. The performances of whole-crop barley following sesbania incorporation were significantly affected by a combination of Sesbania manuring and different N rates. The N fertilizer equivalence without N fertilizer following Sesbania was 42.6% (63.9 kgN ha<SUP>-1</SUP>), compared with N100(150 kg N ha<SUP>-1</SUP>) in fallow soils. The whole-crop barley yield responded to N fertilizer rates in both sesbaniaamended and fallow soil. The yield response to nitrogen rates in fallow soil was linear (Y=0.0586X+3.3011, R<SUP>2</SUP> =0.9534), whereas that in sesbania-amended soils was quadratic (Y= -0.001X<SUP>2</SUP>+0.1322X+5.7143, R<SUP>2</SUP>=0.9576). The yield of whole-crop barley in sesbania-amended with increasing N rates was increased up to SN75 (115 kgN) 10.3 Mg ha<SUP>-1</SUP>. Apparent N recovery (ANR) of whole-crop barely showed decreased with sesbania plus increasing rates of N fertilizer. Despite higher yield with sesbania manuring plus increasing N rates, the contributions of N from Sesbania with increasing N rates to whole-crop barley were decreased, whereas those from fertilizer increment due to excessively mineralized Nitrogen. Considering yield, ANR, N contribution from Sesbania and nitrogen fertilizer, the optimum N rate was N50 rate following sesbania incorporation.

Self-assembled Nanocomplex-mediated siRNA Delivery Using Novel Fusion Peptide

Gene silencing using siRNAs can be a new potent strategy to treat many incurable diseases at the genetic levels. Treatments using siRNAs essentially require an efficient and safe method of delivering siRNAs into cells while maintaining stability. Herein, we designed novel synergistic fusion peptides, i.e., SPACE and oligoarginine. SPACE could interact with the cellular membrane via hydrogen bonding, and the oligoarginine could attract siRNAs electrostatically to form stable and self-assembled nanocomplexes. According to the results, the nanocomplexes showed evident cellular uptake and gene silencing of glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) via the lipid raft-mediated endocytosis pathway, even to the HDFn cells of the skin. Moreover, all the fusion peptides were biocompatible. Also, intratumorally injected nanocomplexes had increased the retention time of siRNAs at the site of the tumor. Finally, nanocomplexes demonstrated a significant in vivo gene silencing effect without overt tissue damage, inflammation, and immune cell infiltration. Thus, the new nanocomplex strategy could become a safe and efficient platform for delivering siRNAs into cells and tissues to treat various target diseases through gene silencing.

<P>Multiphase CuInSe<SUB>2</SUB> (CISe) nanoparticles including the secondary CuSe phase are synthesized by a polyol-based, microwave-assisted solvothermal method. It is demonstrated that the reaction chemistry involving formation of the CISe phase is adjusted depending on the heretofore unrecognized chemical nature of polyol solvent, allowing for formation of secondary CuSe phase-incorporated multiphase CISe nanoparticles. A New Scoring Method of the Mini-Mental Status Examination to Screen for Dementia

<P>Abstract</P><P><B><I>Background:</I></B> Although the Mini-Mental Status Examination (MMSE) is the most widely used screening instrument for dementia, it has several limitations. <B><I>Methods:</I></B> We developed and validated a new scoring method of the MMSE, namely the short form of the MMSE (MMSE-S). <B><I>Results:</I></B> The MMSE-S was more robust to demographic influences than the MMSE. The influence of education, in particular, was smaller in the MMSE-S compared to the MMSE (p < 0.01). The diagnostic accuracy of the MMSE-S for very mild to mild dementia was also better than that of the original MMSE (p < 0.0001). Its specificity, in particular, was higher than that of the original MMSE. In Korea, we could improve the post-test probability for dementia from 46.88 to 64.76% by employing the MMSE-S instead of the MMSE. We also provided optimal cut-off scores for dementia stratified by age, education, and gender, which may further improve the diagnostic accuracy of the MMSE-S for dementia. <B><I>Conclusion:</I></B> Due to its good accuracy and brevity, the MMSE-S may contribute to enhancing the cost-effectiveness of and accessibility to dementia screening as well as early diagnosis and treatment of dementia, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.</P><P>© 2014 S. 칠정(七情)에 관(關)한 문헌적(文獻的) 고찰(考察)

This paper is aimed at finding out the clue to the medical solution to the pathological phenomena of the dehumanizing and demoralizing state of our society by centering around the Chiljeong that originates from Oriental Medicine, Sung Confucianism and Sa-sang Medicine(四象醫學). In these fields,the Chiljeong is based on the theory of Eum-yang and Viscera(陰陽.臟腑論) in Oriental Medicine, on the problems of good and evil in Sung Cunfucianism and on the theory of Sa-sang Visceral Localization(四象.臟局의 理論) in Sa-sang Medicine. The principles of geneation of Chiljeong : In case of Oriental Medicine, Sin(神) controls Chiljeong and of it is stored in five Viscera, it becomes Sin in the Heart, Hon(魂) in the Liver, Sa(思) in the Spleen, Bed-Woo(悲.憂) in the Lung, and Kyeong-Kong(驚.恐) in the Kidney. Then five Viscera react with outer stimuli or Sin, it gives off Chiljeong as Joy(from the Heart), Anger(from the Liver). Thought (from the Spleen), Anxiety and Sorrow(from the Lung) and Surprise and Fear(from the Kidney) In Sung Confucianism, Sim(心) comtrols Seong-jeong(性.情), and at the moment of that Sim gives off Jeong(情), it becomes good when the Li(理) gibes off itself and then Chi(氣) follows Li, or Chi gives off itself and is regulated optimally, out it becomes evil when Li cannot preside over Chi and then shaded by cloudy Chi. The pathology: If the Chiljeong exceeds one's capacity, the corresponding Vicsera will be damaged, and the Passions(喜.怒.哀.樂) that may harm to four types of constitution severly are the Joy and Pleasure(in Tae-eum-in 太陰人 and So-eum-in 少陰人) and Grief and Anger(in Tae-yang-in 太陽人 and So-yang-in 少陽人), so one should be alert on some passions by regrding his constitutional frailty. More over, because of the variations in Sa-sang Visceral Localyzatin there is various ability in human affairs, but as the clumsiness in human affairs may make him hurt by it, so one should be prevented from these passions and human affairs, that is flowing Joy and Participations(黨與) in Tae-yang-in, flowing Pleasure and Dwelings(居處) in So-yang-in, explosive Anger and Companies(交遇) in So-eum-in, explosive Grief and Affairs(事務) in Tae-eum-in. How to clutivate the human nature: The ulitmate purpose in Oriental Medicine is preserving Cheon-Jin(天眞), that is following the Tao(道) by making him be in harmony with the Chi(氣) of the Seasons and by living a simple life. In Sung Confucianism, the way preventing the lustful desire and preserving Cheon-li(天理) is to observate derectly the calm, original place of human nature with reverence, when Sim has nat given off itself yet, and when Sim has already given off, it also is to meditating on one's passion and thought that the principle of good should be researched on or the evil should be cut off according to it's being good or evil. Such like as these various aspects of research on the Chiljeong it will be helpful in understanding human nature by producing the various materials on it, moreover, by doing so, we can lead out appropriate solution on the confusions of judgement value and demoralization.

For giving a person to understand that the relation between being used medicine and psychiatric medicine in the Nae ui won(內醫院). The psychiatric medicine were studied in the Nae ui won's diary. The results are as follows ; 1. It is supposed that the symtoms of Geong Chung, Hyun hun (眩暈) and Bulmyn(不眠) mainly appeared in 1908. 2. It is supposed that the symptoms of Guibeong(氣病) and ulchung(蔚症)mainly appeared in 1920. 3. It is supposed that the symptoms of Guibeong(氣病) and Talyeong(脫營) mainly appeared in 1924. 4. There were Cheongshim(淸心), Anshin(安神) and chingan(鎭肝) which added to a regular medical prescription. Finally with the help of these conclusions of which we have refered, we found that the cause of disease were changed according to the social situation of being free or repressed, and it also coinside with what Nae ui won's record said and practical result.

가미계궁탕(加味桂芎湯) 및 가미귀비탕(加味歸脾湯)의 임상효능(臨床效能)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究)

In order to observe clinical effect of Gamikeguntang(加味柱芎湯) and Gamikuyibitang(加味歸脾湯), I reached following conclusion through the clinical pathology and physicohemical investigation, The following results were obtained. 1) The amplirude on AVL lead which is observed in ECG was increased significantly both in medication group of Gamikegungtang (加味柱芎湯) and of Gamikegungtang(加味歸脾湯). 2) In Hematology, the values of RBC, Hb and Hct are totally increased in the medication group of Gamikuyibitang(加味歸脾湯). 3) In serum Lipid, Total cholesterol and Tryglyceride are significantly decreased and HDL-cholesteral is significantly increased both in medication group of Gamikegungtang(加味柱芎湯) and Gamikuyibitang(加味歸脾湯). Especiay, HDL-cholesterol is remarkably increased in the medication group of Gamikegungtang(加味柱芎湯). 4) The serum Bile acid is remarkably decreased in the medication group of Gamikegungtang(加味柱芎湯), but is not in the medication group of Gamikuyibitang(加味歸脾湯). 5) The value of Cardiac enzyme is remarkably decreased both in the medication group of Gamikegungtang(加味柱芎湯) and Gamikuyibitnag(加味歸脾湯). especially, in the group of Gamikuybitang(加味歸脾湯). 6) In determination of LDH isoenzyme, $LD_4$ is remarkably decreased in the medication group of Gamikegungtang(加味柱芎湯) and $LD_1\;LD_2$ are remarkably decreased in the medication group of Gamikuyibitang(加味歸脾湯). In view of the result so far achieved, I knew that Gamikegungtang(加味柱芎湯) had an indirect effect on Palpitation which is called mental disorder by means of treatment of liver and gall bladder disease, and that Gamiluyibitang(加味歸脾湯) make increase activation of heart whose blood is deficient( 心血不足). In conclusion, I think that we need comparative studies between the main prescription of Kegungtang(柱芎湯). Kuyibitnag(歸脾湯) and the additional prescription of them from now on.
