Oscillatory zoning in skarn garnet: Implications for tungsten ore exploration

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The Sangdong and Weondong deposits, Taebaeksan mineral district, South Korea, are tungsten skarn ore deposits. Andradite (Fe-rich) garnet is a characteristic mineral in these skarn deposits, and is characterized by notable trace element contents (W, Mo, Sn, and U) compared to grossular (Al-rich) garnet. We report characteristics of the trace elements including W, in the garnet structure from the vein-skarn system (outermost exoskarn) and identify a relationship of exploration significance between the trace element composition and W-ore. The chemical characteristics of the garnets were determined using Back-Scattered Electron (BSE) imagery, Electron Probe Micro-Analyzer (EPMA) point analyses and X-ray dot-mapping, and Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (LA-ICPMS) point analyses and mapping. Garnets in the study area are mainly composed of grandite (grossular–andradite) garnets, and exhibit compositional variation as oscillatory zoning. The chondrite-normalized REE patterns of Al-rich garnets are HREE-enriched. In contrast, Fe-rich garnets are LREE-enriched. Tungsten is strongly fractionated into the Fe-rich garnets (average concentration: 618ppm), compared to the Al-rich rims (average concentration: 19ppm). In addition, other trace elements (Mo, Sn, and U) are also closely correlated with W and REE signatures. The Fe-rich garnets are attributed to rapid growth by infiltration metasomatism during disequilibrium, which caused the incorporation of these trace elements into the garnet structure that reflect the composition of the ore-forming fluid. Microstructure guided multi-scale liquid patterning on an open surface

<P>Liquid patterning is a quintessential aspect in cell-based screening. While there are a variety of methods to handle microliquids utilizing surface treatments, complex microfluidic systems, and automated dispensing, most of the stated methods are both expensive and difficult to implement. Here, we present a fast multi-scale microliquid-patterning method on an open surface using embossed microstructures without surface modification. Arrays of micropillars can trap microliquids when a bulk drop is swept by an elastic sweeper on polystyrene (PS) substrates. The patterning mechanism on a basic form of a 2 × 2 rectangular array of circular pillars is analyzed theoretically and verified with experiments. Nanoliter-to-microliter volumes of liquids are patterned into various shapes by arranging the pillars based on the analysis. Furthermore, an array of geometrically modified pillars can capture approximately 8000 droplets on a large substrate (55 mm × 55 mm) in one step. Given the simplistic method of wipe patterning, the proposed platform can be utilized in both manual benchtop and automated settings. We will provide proof of concept experiments of single colony isolation using nanoliter-scale liquid patterning and of human angiogenic vessel formation using sequential patterning of microliter-scale liquids.</P>

This study was planned to provide basic data for activating quality improvement by genera hospital with more than 400 beds across the country, of which 65 coordinators answered. Main results of the study are as follows.. 1. Job satisfaction and organizational commitment by individual characteristics were compared. It was revealed that the sense of self-efficacy was related to job satisfaction positively. But job satisfaction and organizational commitment by locus of control showed no significant difference. 2. In terms of the characteristics of QI activities, the active participation of QI coordinators in QI planning process and smooth communication among hospital staffs were showed positive relationship to job satisfaction significantly. 3. Also support system was proposed as most significant variable related to the job satisfaction and the organizational commitment of QI coordinators. Especially support, to Ql activities by CEO's, seniors, and other hospital staff was a factor to enhance the job satisfaction and organizational commitment of QI coordinators. 4. In the aspect of organizational culture, culture which were tendency to be recognized high autonomy in their work and organizational identity strongly and to operate reasonable compensation system were related to job satisfaction and organizational commitment positively. The more formalized climate, supportive communication, cooperative teamwork and promoting creative/ risk take behavior, it showed the higher organizational commitment. 5. For the aspect of QI job characteristics, QI coordinators' job satisfaction was high when QI office was arranged for independent department which was exclusively in charge of QI activities and their role is exclusively in charge of QI. It can be concluded that organizational support in the aspect of relation and finance and efforts of encouraging their motivation and providing on the job training program are need
