        암 환자의 혈장 Transforming Growth Factor-β1 농도

        한국인의 대표적인 성인 고형 종양인 위암, 간암, 유방암과 소아 백혈병 및 2종의 소아 고형 종양 환자로부터 혈장 transforming growth factor-ß1 (TGF-ß1) 농도를 sandwich ELISA 분석법을 이용해 측정함으로써 TGF-ß1을 이 질환들에 대한 새로운 종양표지자 (tumor marker)로 사용할 수 있는지 검토하였다. 또한 연령 및 성별에 따른 혈장 TGF-ß1 농도의 정상치를 조사하였다. 신생아에서 70대까지 혈장 TGF-ß1 농도의 차이는 없었고 남녀간의 차이도 없었다. 위암 환자의 혈장TCF-ß1 농도는 16.0±6.8 ng/ml (평균 ±표준편차)로 정상 대조군의 TGF-ß1 농도 (8.3 ±5.0 ng/ml) 보다 유의하게 높았으나 간암, 유방암 환자의 혈장 TGF-ß1 농도는 대조군과 차이가 없었다. 그리고 위암 환자 16명, 간암 환자 8명, 유방암 환자 7명 중 각각 7명 (43.7%), 1명 (12.5%), 1명 (14.3%)에서만 혈장 TGF-ß1 농도가 증가되었다. 5명의 소아 백혈병 환자에서는 관해 (remission) 여부와 상관없이 혈장 TGF-ßl 농도가 모두 정상 범위에 있었으나 2명의 소아 고형암 환자에서는 종양 절제 전에는 혈장TGF-ß1 농도가 높았다가 절제 후 정상으로 떨어졌다. 결론적으로 1)정상인의 혈장 TGF-ßl 농도는 연령 및 성별에 따른 차이가 없다는 것을 알 수 있었고, 2)성인 고형암인 위암, 간암, 유방암에서는 낮은 민감도로 인해 TGF-ß1을 진단을 위한 선별 검사로 이용하기에는 부적절한 것으로 판단되었으며, 3) 정상 대조군보다 혈장 TGF-ß1 농도가 높았던 위암 환자와 종양 절제 전후로 혈장 TGF-ß1 농도가 민감하게 변했던 소아 고형 암 환자에 대해서는 향후 표본 수를 늘려 부가적인 연구를 해 야 할 것으로 사료된다. To evaluate the usefulness of transforming growth factor-ß1 (TGF-ß1)as a new tumor marker, we determined the plasma TGF-ß1 levels using sandwich ELISA assay in cancer patients. Patients with three most common adult cancers in Korea (stomach, liver and breast cancer) and children's cancers (leukemia and two kinds of solid tumor) were enrolled for the study. Furthermore, 39 individuals were subjected to age and sex-stratified plasma TGF-ß1 analysis. No statistical difference was demonstrated with respect to age or sex. The mean plasma TGF-ß1 level (16.0 ng/ml) of stomach cancer patients was significantly higher than that (8.3ng/ml) of controls. However, there was no difference among the mean plasma TGF-ß1 levels of liver, breast cancer patients and controls. Seven of 16 patients (43.7%) with stomach cancer, one of 8 (12.5%) with liver cancer, and one of 7 (14.3%) with breast cancer showed higher TGF-ß1 levels compared to controls. Plasma TGF-ß1 concentrations of five leukemic children remained in the normal range regardless of the remission state. In contrast, initial high TGF-ß1 levels from two children with solid tumors returned to normal range on surgical resection of tumors. From the above results, we could conclude that plasma TGF-ß1 levels of apparently healthy individuals seem to be rather constant irrespective of difference in age or sex, and the plasma TGF-ß1 has the limited value as a screening test for the diagnosis of aforementioned adult cancers because of its low sensitivity. Finally, additional studies need to be pursed for the large number of stomach cancer and pediatric solid tumor patients in order to reach a secure conclusion on the usefulness of plasma TGF-ß1 as a tumor marker in these patients.

      • Analysis of monitoring Road-kill in Odaesan National Park

        We surveyed mammalian roadkill at the National Route 6 (Jin-gogae to Songcheon, 18㎞) and a local road 446 (Odaesan National Park office to Sangwon-temple, 12㎞) in Odaesan National Park. Data of the surveys were analyzed by year, month, and species. Roadkills of 226 individuals were found at the survey areas. Of them, the road-killed 131 mammal individuals, 44 bird individuals, 40 reptile individual and 11 amphibian individuals were found during the survey period. High ratio of the road-kills was observed in mammals than the other animals. Among mammalian species, high ratio of the road-kills was observed in squirrels. There were road-kills of three endangered species, containing otters, yellow-throated marten and leopard cats. According to the analyses of annual road-kills, roadkills of 104 cases were occurred and highly frequent in 2014, following by roadkills of 81 cases in 2015, and then those of 41 cases in 2016. Most ases of the roadkills occurred in summer (June to September). The results will contribute to establishing management for reduction of roadkill in Odaesan National Park.

        We experienced a 25 year-old male patient with typhoid fever complicated with massive hemoptysis. Pulmonary complication in typhoid fever is very rare and to our knowledge, there has been no report of hemoptysis as a main cause of death with this disease. We herein report a rare case of typhoid fever.

        EU 통상정책수단의 운용과 그 적용사례 : 반덤핑 규정과 통상장벽 규정을 중심으로 Anti-Dumping and Trade Barrier Regulation

        This paper overviews the important changes to the commercial policy of EU followed after the conclusion of Uruguay Round and studies the application cases, The EU tends to move away from a defensive strategy which aims at protecting the internal market towards it more offensive strategy to open the market of third countries. The Trade Barrier Regulation is introduced in 1994 with the aim of helping European firms to eliminate the trade barriers in third-country markets. Anti-Dumping constitute the very potenti nstrument of protectionism used in EU. Anti-Dumping law gives European firms incentives to neglect innovation or reducing the production costs because they can profit from relying on protection. The case studies show that the application of measures is to a large extent determined by political discrerion rather than on the basis of common welfare including injury of consumers.

        마요네즈에 첨가한 녹차가 Escherichia coli O157:H7과 Salmonella typhimurium의 생존에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the antibacterial activity of green tea in mayonnaise against pathogenic bacteria (Escherichia coli O157:H7 and Salmonella typhimurium). Mayonnaise was prepared with salad oil, egg yolk, sugar, salt and vinegar, and green tea powder was added to the mayonnaise at 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5% for the experiment. Then, the mayonnaise samples with various levels of green tea were inoculated with about 10^6 cells/g of E. coli and S. typhimurium per 1 gram of mayonnaise and stored at 5℃, 15℃ and 25℃ for 3∼9 days. Antibacterial activity of green tea was tested by the colony counting method for E. coli on violet red bile agar(VRBA) and S. typhimurium on xylose lysine desoxycholate agar(XLDA). The D-values of E. coli controls were 2.89, 2.73 and 2.13 days while those of S. typhimurium controls were 0.58, 0.53 and 0.52 days at 5℃, 15℃ and 25℃, respectively. Inhibitory effect of green tea in mayonnaise on the survival of E. coli and S. typhimurium was increased with increasing concentration of green tea and/or increasing storage temperature. The most effective antibacterial activity of green tea was shown against E. coli in mayonnaise during storage at 25℃.

        Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a major form of tea epicatechin, has a variety of biological activities. It has recently been studied intensively as an antiallergic and anti-inflammatory agent. Thus we elucidated the anti-allergic effect of EGCG in the ovalbumin (OVA)-induced asthma model mice by examining the expression of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9. Also airway reactivity to methacholine challenge and reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation in BAL fluid. mesured by the expression of iNOS mRNA in lung tissue and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) in BAL fluids. The OVA challenged mice showed allergic airway reactions, such as inflammatory chemokine (CCL5,CXCL10) in the airway and lung tissues. However mice administrated with EGCG had significantly reduced CCL5 and MMP-9 expression in lung tissues as well as TNF-α and IL-5 production in BAL fluid. these results suggest that EGCG regulate

        FTAA 출범이 한국경제에 미치는 영향 : 서비스 개방을 포함한 CGE분석 Addressing Trade Liberalization in Services

        본 연구는 미주자유무역협정(FTAA) 출범의 경제적 효과와 한국경제에 미치는 영향을 일반 균형연산(CGE)모형으로 분석하였다. CGE모형을 이용한 기존 연구와의 차이점은 FTAA의 장기적 효과를 분석하였을 뿐만 아니라, 무역에서 그 중요성이 날로 증대되고 있는 서비스 자유화의 경제적 파급효과를 포괄하였다는데 있다. FTAA출범이 한국경제에 미치는 단기적인 영향은 상대적으로 작게 나타나지만, 장기적으로는 국내총생산이 0.12%까지 감소하는 것으로 추정되었다. 산업별로는 섬유 및 의류산업과 자동차 산업의 생산과 FTAA지역으로의 수출이 가장 큰 타격을 입을 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 서비스 무역의 자유화는 단지 서비스 부문의 효율성을 향상하는데 그치지 않고 서비스가 제조업의 중간재로 사용되기도 하기 때문에 경제전체의 효율성 향상에 기여하는 것으로 나타났다. In this paper, we assess the impacts of a Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) on the Korean Economy, addressing trade liberalization in services. The impacts of an FTAA on the Korean economy would be minimal in the short run. However, it is estimated that GDP of the Korean economy will decrease by 0.12 percent in the long run due to the formation of an FTAA. In particular, an FTAA would negatively affect some sectors, including motor vehicles and textiles, by reducing production by 0.35-0.80 percent and 0.35-0.54 percent, respectively. This implies that the opportunity costs for the Korean economy will increase as other regions become more integrated.

        눈꽃동충하초(Paecilomyces japonica)를 첨가한 증편의 미생물학적 품질특성 및 저장성

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Paecilomyces japonica mycelia(PJM) on pH, titrable acidity and microbiological quality of Jeungpyun(fermented rice cake). Jeungpyun prepared with 0?7% of PJM stored at 5℃ and 20℃ for 4 weeks and 7 days respectively. Before fermentation of Jeungpyun dough, viable cells of total bacterial counts(TBC), yeasts and lactic acid bacteria(LAB) were 6.0~9.8×10^6, 5.3~9.0×10^(6), 5.4~8.5×10^(6) CFU/g, respectively. During the fermentation of dough, viable cells of TBC, yeasts and LAB increased 0.3~0.4 log cycle and pH was decreased whereas acidity incresed as the progress of fermentation. Total viable cells in Jeungpyun before storage were 5.0×10¹ CFU/g. During storage of Jeungpyun, TBC, yeasts and LAB of control group increased 2.6, 2.4, 2.1 log cycle at 5℃ and 4.8, 4.6, 4.5 log cycle at 20℃, respectively, when reached at maximum level. Major microflora of Jeungpyun was composed of yeasts and LAB during fermentation of dough and storage at 5℃ and 20℃. Addition of PJM, inhibited the growth of microorganisms, the changes of pH and titrable acidity of Jeungpyun during storage at both of 5℃ and 20℃. From these results, the addition of PJM extended the shelf-life of Jeungpyun during storage at 5℃ and 20℃.

        초마디 멀티프런탈 방법의 효율적인 구현

        In this paper, some efficient implementation techniques for the multifrontal method, which can be used to compute the Cholesky factor of a symmetric positive definite matrix, are presented. In order to use the cache effect in the cache-based computer architecture, a hybrid method for factorizing a frontal matrix is considered. This hybrid method uses the column Cholesky method and the submatrix Cholesky method alternatively. Experiments show that the hybrid method speeds up the performance of the supernodal multifrontal method by 5%~10%, and it is superior to the Cholesky method is some problems with dense columns or large frontal matrices.

        冬蟲夏草 첨가에 따른 증편의 품질 특성

        전통중편의 단백영양 보강을 위하여 동충하초를 첨가하여 중편의 이화학적, 기계적, 관능적 품질특성을 조사하였다. 동충하초 첨가량을 달리한 중편의 부피는 동충하초 첨가군이 대조군에 비해 증가하였고 pH는 동충하초 5%첨가 중편이 가장 낮게 나타났다. 수분은 대조군에 비해 첨가군의 수분 함량이 낮았고(p<0.01) 동충하초 첨가군 사이에 유의적인 차이는 없었다. 아미노산 함량은 대조군보다 동충하초 첨가군이 높았으며 필수아미노산을 골고루 함유하고 특히 Leucine, Phenylalanine, Arginine이 높았다. 동충하초첨가 중편의 texture변화에서 색도 중 L값은 대조군에 비해 동충하초 첨가량이 증가할수록 감소하였으며 반면에 a, b값은 첨가량이 증가할수록 증가하였다. texture 측정에서는 껌성은 5% 첨가군이 낮게 나타났고, brittlenes는 7% 첨가군이 대조군과 다른 첨가군중에서 가장 높게 나타났다. 관능검사에서 texture에서는 응집성이 5% 첨가군, 탄력성은 3% 첨가군이 가장 높게 평가되었으나 유의적인 차이는 없었다. flavor에서 stale grain flavor과 bitterness는 동충하초 첨가량을 증가시킬수록 높게 나타나는 경향을 보였다. 이상의 결과에서 동충하초 중편의 제조에서 이화학적 특성, 기계적 특성, 관능적 특성을 종합했을 때 동충하초 농도를 3%, 5% 첨가시 최적농도임을 도출해 내고 품질이 향상됨을 확인할 수 있었다. higher The Hunter color test showed lower L values with higher amounts of added JP to the Jeung-Pyun. In the sensory test, the 7% added group had the strongest color according to the texture; the highest cohesiveness was shown in the 5% added group. and the highest springiness was shown by the 3% added group, but none of these showed any significant differences. As for flavor, the more JP added the higher the stale grain flavor and bitterness. In the result of the overall acceptability test, the stale grain flavor of the 5% added group showed the highest values for the favorite texture and flavor. From the results of this experiment, when making stale grain flavored Jeung-Pyun, the 3 and 5% added groups were the optimum concentrations for the observed improvements in the quality. This study was carried out to investigate the possibility of improving the quality characteristics of Jeung-Pyun, by the addition of Paecilomyces japonica powder (JP). Regarding the volume of the Jeung-Pyun fermentation, with respect to the different amounts of JP added, the groups containing JP showed increased volumes, and as for the pH, the group containing 5% showed the lowest value. Regarding the moisture content, the groups containing JP showed lower moisture contents than the control group.
