For the problem that the use effect of food processing information system is poor due to absence of knowledge acquisition measures and knowledge self-updating function, a knowledge acquisition approach based on rough set is put forward. First, the approach establishes a set of predicted samples for the relationship between food processing parameters and product quality; then uses the discretization of continuous attribute, attribute reduction and rule extraction algorithm of rough set to acquire automatically predicted knowledge from a large number of predicted sample sets, and then saves the predicted knowledge in the knowledge base of expert system; finally, realizes the extraction of knowledge of food processing process based on the inference engine, which greatly enhances the effectiveness and practicality of the acquired knowledge in online aided decision system of the food processing quality and safety.

In continuation of our endeavor to develop new, potent, selective and less toxic antiviral agents, a novel series of 2-(2-amino/chloro-4-(2,4-dibromophenyl) thiazol-5-ylthio)acetamide derivatives was synthesized via an expeditious route and evaluated for their anti-HIV activities against wild-type virus and clinically relevant mutant strains, and for their anti-influenza virus activities against influenza A (H1N1 and H3N2) and influenza B in cellular assays. The selected active compounds were also assayed for their enzymic inhibitory activities. The results showed that some 2-chloro substituted thiazolylthioacetamide derivatives possessed potent activity against wild type HIV-1 and several key mutant strains (E138K, K103N, L100I) of HIV-1 in MT-4 cells with EC50 values in micromolar range. Two 2-amino substituted thiazole derivatives 8a7 and 8a8 displayed significant potency against influenza A/H1N1 in MDCK cells with EC50 values much lower than that of oseltamivir carboxylate, ribavirin, amantadine and rimantadine. Though the mechanism of actions is still unclear, these novel thiazolylthioacetamides might serve as original leads for further pharmacological investigations as potential therapeutic agents against HIV-1 or influenza virus.

mTOR, the mammalian target of rapamycin, is a conserved serine/threonine kinase which belongs to the phosphatidyl-linositol kinase-related kinase (PIKK) family. It has two complexes called mTORC1 and mTORC2. It is well established that mTOR plays important roles in cell growth, proliferation and differentiation. Over-activation of the mTOR pathway is considered to have a relationship with the development of many types of diseases, including polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and ovarian cancer (OC). mTOR pathway inhibitors, such as rapamycin and its derivatives, can directly or indirectly treat or relieve the symptoms of patients suffering from PCOS or OC. Moreover, mTOR inhibitors in combination with other chemical-molecular agents may have extraordinary efficacy. This paper will discuss links between mTOR signaling and PCOS and OC, and explore the mechanisms of mTOR inhibitors in treating these two diseases, with conclusions regarding the most effective therapeutic approaches.
Exact and Closed-Form Error Performance Analysis for Hard MMSE-SIC Detection in MIMO Systems
Peng Liu,Il-Min Kim IEEE 2011 IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON COMMUNICATIONS Vol.59 No.9
<P>We investigate the exact error performance of hard minimum mean-squared error (MMSE) detection possibly with successive interference cancellation (SIC) in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. To facilitate the analysis, we start with an exact bit-error rate (BER) analysis for a general system with decision statistic, z=ax+u, where a>;0, x is the transmitted signal, and u is an arbitrarily distributed noise component which is possibly dependent on the signal component x. For this general system, we derive the exact and closed-form BER expressions for M-ary pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) and arbitrary rectangular quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM), which include the well-known BER result of as a special case. Furthermore, by formulating the MIMO MMSE decision statistics in the same form as z in the general system, we derive the exact and closed-form instantaneous BER and symbol-error rate (SER) expressions for MIMO hard MMSE detection with/without SIC employing PAM and QAM. Finally, the validity of our derived error probability expressions is verified through extensive Monte Carlo simulations and the results reported in the literature.</P>

Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) and Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) are both recognized as promising techniques, one is for solving the resource insufficient of mobile devices and the other is for powering the mobile device. Naturally, by integrating the two techniques, task will be capable of being executed by the harvested energy which makes it possible that less intrinsic energy consumption for task execution. However, this innovative integration is facing several challenges inevitably. In this paper, we aim at prolonging the battery life of mobile device for which we need to maximize the harvested energy and minimize the consumed energy simultaneously, which is formulated as residual energy maximization (REM) problem where the offloading ratio, energy harvesting time, CPU frequency and transmission power of mobile device are all considered as key factors. To this end, we jointly optimize the offloading ratio, energy harvesting time, CPU frequency and transmission power of mobile device to solve the REM problem. Furthermore, we propose an efficient convex optimization and sequential unconstrained minimization technique based combining method to solve the formulated multi-constrained nonlinear optimization problem. The result shows that our joint optimization outperforms the single optimization on REM problem. Besides, the proposed algorithm is more efficiency.

In this paper, lutein block polyethylene glycol (lutein-b-PEG) copolymers were synthesized by hydrophilic modification of lutein with carboxylated polyethylene glycol (CT-PEG). The unreacted lutein was loaded into micelles formed by self-assembly of block copolymers to prepare composite nanoparticles. The results of FT-IR, 1H NMR, gel permeation chromatography (GPC), UV–vis and critical micellar concentration (CMC) showed that the double terminal carboxyl group ratio of CT-PEG reached 50.31%, and lutein-b-PEG was successfully synthesized without destroying the structure of lutein. Compared with lutein, the retention rate of lutein composite nanoparticles increased from 4.32 to 81.3% after 30 days of storage in the dark. In addition, the saturation solubility and bioaccessibility of lutein nanoparticles were increased 35 times and 5.2 times, respectively, due to micellar formation and improved water solubility. These findings indicated that the lutein composite nanoparticles modified with PEG significantly improved the chemical stability, water solubility, and bioaccessibility of lutein.
