        Background : In recent years, gonorrhea has been panedemic and remains one of the most commom STDs in the world, especially in developing countries. Objective & Methods: For the detection of a more effective therapeutic regimen and assessing the prevalence of PPNG, we have been trying to study the patients who have visited the VD Clinic of Choong-Ku Public Health Center in Seoul since 1980 by means of the chromogenic cephalosporin method. Results: In 1996, 139 strains of N. gonorrhoeae were isolated, among which 53(39.0%) were PPNG. Conclusion: Our results suggests that after a peak of 74.3% in 1993, the prevalence of PPNG in Seoul is gradually declining.

        DNA 분석법에 의한 한우고기 판별

        This study was deal with the development of breed-specific DNA marker which is able to identify Hanwoo and European cattle breeds(Non-Hanwoo) meat. Genetic differentiation between Korean cattle(Hanwoo) and European cattle breeds was examined by Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA(RAPD) analysis. The RAPD patterns were identical among Non-Hanwoo, such as Holstein, Hereford. Aberdeen Angus. Brown Swiss. Limousin or Simmental. but the above pattern was different from that of Hanwoo. All bands detected in the Hanwoo samples were observed in Non-Hanwoo cattle samples, but one of the common bands found in samples was not detected in the Hanwoo samples. The band(1.4kb) may be useful as a marker for identifying a meat of Hanwoo from imported cattle meat. Actually, the detection of the DNA marker was tested by DNA analysis with 929 samples which were prepared from bloods of 673 Hanwoo cattles and 141 Holstein cattles, from 115 imported cattle meats. The DNA marker was absent in 644 of 673 Hanwoo cattles (96%) but present in 245 of 256 Non-Hanwoo cattles (95%). These results show that the DNA marker is effective to characterize Hanwoo and Non-Hanwoo meat by its detection. This DNA marker, however, was not useful in detecting unwanted crossbreeding between two cattle breeds, because the band pattern in hybrid cattle shows one of two band patterns in Hanwoo and Non-Hanwoo.

        The positive of effects of ceramic film package on the shelf life of foods were compared with those of P.E. film. compared with P.E. film package, ceramic film package inhibited growth of microorganisms and decreased lipid oxidation velocity. Ceramic film package extended the shelf life of Vit. C and stabilized chlorophyll pigment. Total score in the organoleptic tests for ceramic film packed foods was higher than that for P.E. film packed foods.

      • Total oxy-radical scavenging capacity assay를 이용한 taurine과 hypotaurine의 항산화 활성 측정

        Taurine, a sulfur containing non-amino acid, is one of the most abundant intracellular amino acid in humans, and hypotaurine is a precursor of the synthesis of taurine. While it is widely believed that taurine may play an important role in protecting cells against toxic injury by functioning as an antioxidant, there is a lack of evidence to support this hypothesis. In this study, total oxy-radical scavenging capacity(TOSC) assay was used to evaluate antioxidant activity of taurine and hypotaurine against peroxyl radical, hydroxyl radical and peroxynitrite. The present results show that taurine does not have oxy-radical scavenging activity and hypotaurine is comparable to glutathione, an antioxidant substance, in oxy-radical scavenging activity. The results suggest that protective effects of taurine against oxidative stress may not be associated with its direct oxy-radical scavenging activity. Difference in oxy-radical scavenging capacity between taurine and hypotaurine may be ascribed to their sulfur oxidation state.

      • 베어링 조합방법이 이송축 열변위에 주는 영향에 관한 연구

        One of the important technical issues is how to decrease thermal expansion of ball screw in proportion to the increase of machining speed. when measuring force of stretch of ball screw, since not only actual expansion and the value of bending have to be considered, it's impossible to definite the exact value of expansion. In addition, support bearings of ball screw gain considerable force in axial direction. It also generates thermal expansion on the ball screw, and deteriorates the bearings. In conclusion, it's impossible to give the pretension enough to absorb the all elongation due to thermal expansion generated during machine running. If gave, bed, column and saddle are all bent to change machine accuracy, and the support bearings of ball screw are damaged. The purpose of this paper is to study the pretension of support bearing of ball screw in machine tool.

      • 배추 시스테인 단백질 분해 효소 억제 유전자 BCPI-1의 발현과 종자 발아 및 유묘 생장과의 연관성

        Phytocystatins are protein inhibitors of cysteine proteinases of the papain family that have been identified in both monocot and dicot plants. A cDNA encoding a phytocystatin, BCPI-1 (Brassica Cysteine Proteinase Inhibitor-1) has been isolated from Chinese cabbage (Brassica campestris L. ssp. pekinensis) flower buds. Here, we tested whether BCPI-1 transcription is regulated by hormones, and could be involved in regulating cysteine proteinases during and after germination. BCPI-1 was sensitive to exogenous GA_(3) and ABA, which are important factors controlling seed germination, suggesting that the expression of BCPI-1 is hormonally regulated. We introduced a recombinant plasmid containing the full-length BCPI-1 cDNA under the control of cauliflower mosaic virus 35S promoter into rice embryogenic calli using the particle delivery method, and regenerated a number of transgenic rice plants. Constitutively over-expressed BCPI-1 caused changes in overall plant growth and development, including reduced germination and seedling growth. These data support the role of the BCPI-1 in the regulation of endogenous proteinases during both seed germination and subsequent seedling development. Phylocystatins은 papain계열의 cysteine 단백질 분해 효소 활성을 특이적으로 억제하는 억제자로 다양한 식물 종으로부터 분리되었다. 본고에서는, 배추 화아 cDNA library로부터 분리된 phytocystatin인 BCPI-1(Brassica Cysteine Proteinase Inhibitor-1)의 생체 내 기능에 대해 연구하였다. 먼저, BCPI-1 전사체는 발아 조절에 중요한 영향을 미치는 GA₃와 ABA에 의해 예민하게 증가, 혹은 감소되는 반응을 보임으로써, BCPI-1이 식물 호르몬의 영향을 받으며, 특히 발아나 유묘의 생장 조절에 관련이 있음을 알 수 있었다. Particle bombardment 방법을 통하여 BCPI-1을 벼의 배 형성 세포 내에 도입, 재분화 시켜 형질 전환 벼를 생성하였다. CaMV 35S promoter의 조절에 의해 지속적인 BCPI-1 발현을 보이는 형질 전환 벼의 경우, 발아와 유묘 생장이 현저히 지연되었다. 위의 결과들을 바탕으로, BCPI-1이 식물체 내에서 생성되는 cysteine 계열의 단밸질 분해 효소 활성을 조절하여 종자의 발아와 유묘의 생장에 영향을 미치는 것으로 추측한다.

        테이블 중량 감소 효과에 따른 스틱슬립 개선에 관한 연구

        In order to achieve high precision machine tools, the research for performance enhancement of feed drive systems is required. Development of the high speed drive system has been a major issue for the past few decades in machine tool industries. Because table levitation system decrease the table weight, an effect of reaction by weight is minimized and lost motion can be removed at maximum. In case feed system is designed with drive motor, ball screw and support bearing load capacity selection, an effect of decrease of the table weight exist. So, the table weight through an effect of decrease call it into the realization of cost down. Stick-slip friction has a great influence on the contouring accuracy of CNC machine tools. In this paper table levitation system has been developed for the stick-slip in a feed drive systems.

        볼나사 지지 구조와 베어링 조합 배열에 관한 연구

        사회적지지 요법이 고혈압 환자 역할 행위 이행에 미친 효과의 지속에 관한 연구Ⅱ

        The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of social support revealed in the time duration of sick role behavior compliance on the Patients with hypertension using Quasi-experimental research design. Data collection was made through the interview surrey technique from the hypertensive patients who received social support intervention(experimental group, n=41) and from those who were not exposed to the intervention(control group, n= 34) The subjects were registered in the cardiovascular outpatient clinic at the Chonnam National University Hospital from June 3. 1996 to Novembel 30. 1977. X2-test or t-test. Repeated measures ANOVA were utilized in the data analysis. The results were as follows: 1.The effect of social support intervention on sick role behavior compliance was significant in 1 month(F=69.17. p=.000). 6 months (F=11.51, p=.001), and 12 months(F=.07, p=.789) and between two groups(1 month: F=153.70. p=.000. 6 months; F=13.94, p=.000, 12 months; F=6.72, p=.011). 2.The effect of social support intervention on blood pressure was not significant through alt the periods of time (F=1.21. p=.274) between the two groups(F= 12. p=.732). In conclusion, it was showed that social support had an effect on sick role behavior compliance and the effect of social support continued for twelve months(F=10.03. p=.002). However, the score of compliance tends to decrease after 6 months of intervention. Therefore, this study indicated that social support re-intervention would be needed between six and twelve months.
