본 논문은 대기 오염물질의 배출량이 많아지면서 대기의 혼탁도가 높아지고 이로 인해 시정이 악화됨을 규명하고자 하였다. 시정의 악화를 언급하기에 앞서 시정에 대해서 보다 명확하게 정의하였고, 대전지역의 시정 자료 값을 분석하여 대기의 오염이 얼마나 증가하였는가를 밝힘으로써 시정측정 장비 연구의 필요성을 강조하였다. In this Essay, we wished to examine closely that turbidity of air rised, visibility is worsened because the discharge amount of air contaminant increased. Before refer visibility for the worse, we defined more definitely about visibility, analyzed visibility value of DaeJon area, said how pollution of air increased, so emphasized necessity that we should have researched visibility monitoring method.

Improvement of winter hardiness, diseases resistance and good quality have been recently received more attention by covered barley(Hordeum vulgare L.) breeders than ever in Korea. “Hyegang”, a new covered barley cultivar with similar maturing and high yield was developed by the National Institute of Crop Science, RDA in 2011. It was derived from the cross between “Milyang87/NWX-GB-G 2” and “Milyang87/Chalbori” with good quality. The initial cross was done in 2000 and the selected line, “Iksan445” (YB4625-B-B-6-2), showed high yield and good quality characteristics under yield trial test in 2008. It was cultivated three times for three years (2009~2011) in the four locations of regional yield trial (RYT) in korea and was investigated about agronomic and quality characteristics and released as “Hyegang”. The heading date was May 4 in upland and April 26 in paddy field which was 1 and 0 day lateness respectively than that of check cultivar, “Olbori”. The culm length was 77 cm which was 6 cm shorter than that with check cultivar. It showed the spike length of 4.7 cm, 800 spikes / m2, 64 grains / spike and 25.1g for 1,000 grains weight. It showed similar maturing and stronger resistance to barley yellow mosaic virus (BaYMV) compare to check cultivar. It showed higher diastatic power 216DP than that of check cultivar, ‘Olbori’. Average yield of “Hyegang” in the RYT was 4.61 MT/ha in upland and 4.38 MT/ha in paddy field, espectively.
Characterization of Immune Responses to Mycobacterium tuberculosis Rv2041c Protein

Tuberculosis, which is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tb), is one of the most important infectious diseases in the world. Although many functional studies have been conducted on M. tb proteins in the post-genomic era, little is known about the function of many proteins expressed specifically during latency. Previously, we reported that Rv2041c from M. tb H37Rv is highly expressed under conditions of low pH and hypoxia, which represent the in vitro mimicry of latent tuberculosis. In the present study, increased expression levels of Rv2041c under hypoxia and low pH in vitro culture was confirmed by RT-PCR. Interestingly, Rv2041c showed significantly increased expression among genes of the same operon and genes belonging to the same functional group. Finally, the immune responses elicited by the recombinant (r) Rv2041c protein were investigated using ex vivo and in vivo models of M. tb infection. A significantly high level of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-$\alpha$, IL-6, and IL-12p40 was detected in a dose-dependent manner by treatment of murine bone marrow-derived macrophages with rRv2041c protein. In addition, IFN-$\gamma$ and TNF-$\alpha$ secretion increased after stimulation with purified Rv2041c protein to lymphocytes from latent and active TB mice in a modified Cornell model. In conclusion, our findings suggest that Rv2041c is a new T-cell antigen and could be a potential vaccine candidate against M. tb infection by inducing a strong cellular immune response.

A one-row finned-tube heat exchanger having flat tubes was tested, and the thermal and pressure drop data are compared with those of the state-of-the-art two-row finned-tube heat exchanger having circular tubes. Both dry and wet tests were conducted. It is shown that, for dry condition, the flat tube heat exchanger yields significantly lower pressure drop with slightly lower heat transfer. For wet condition, however, pressure drop of the flat tube heat exchanger outrides that of the circular tube heat exchanger, which suggests that condensate drainage characteristic of the flat tube heat exchanger is not as good as that of the circular tube one. Performance evaluation was done for both samples.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>IFN-gamma releasing assays (IGRAs) such as T-SPOT.<I>TB</I> assay and QuantiFERON-TB In-Tube (QFT-GIT) have yielded promising results for the diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB). However, little is known about the usefulness of these assays for diagnosing disseminated TB. We therefore compared their usefulness with traditional tests in patients with disseminated TB. All adult patients with suspected disseminated TB were prospectively enrolled at a tertiary hospital in an intermediate TB-burden country during a 6-year period. Disseminated TB was defined as involvement of the bone marrow or ≥2 noncontiguous organs, or presence of miliary lung lesions. A total of 101 patients with confirmed and probable disseminated TB were finally analyzed. Of these 101 patients, 52 (52%) had miliary TB and the remaining 49 (48%) had nonmiliary disseminated TB. In addition, 63 (62%) had no underlying disease. Chronic granuloma with/without necrosis, acid-fast bacillus staining, <I>Mycobacterium tuberculosis</I> PCR, and culture for <I>M tuberculosis</I> were positive in 77% (41/53), 43% (43/101), 70% (67/96), and 72% (73/101), of the patients, respectively. The T-SPOT.<I>TB</I> assay was positive in 90% (91/101) of them. The sensitivity of the T-SPOT.<I>TB</I> assay in patients with miliary TB (90%) was similar to that in patients with nonmiliary TB (90%) (<I>P</I> > 0.99). In a subgroup analysis of the 58 patients in whom both QFT-GIT and the T-SPOT.<I>TB</I> results were available, the sensitivity of QFT-GIT (67%) was lower than that of T-SPOT.<I>TB</I> (95%) (<I>P</I> < 0.001).</P><P>In conclusion, T-SPOT.TB assay may be a helpful adjunct test for disseminated TB.</P>

<B>ABSTRACT</B><P>Tuberculosis subunit vaccines codelivered with interleukin-12 (IL-12)-encapsulated microspheres (IL-12EM) are designed for a sustained release of IL-12 and could induce strong Th1 immune responses specific to Ag85A and ESAT-6. The adjuvant combination of IL-12EM plus AS01B was a more efficient way to induce a sustained Th1 immunity and protection against <I>Mycobacterium tuberculosis.</I></P>
