      • Novel Functions of Microbial Oligo- and Polysaccharides Having Unique Physico-chemical Properties

        Oligo- or polysaccharides produced by environmental microbes such as Rhizobium meliloti, Xanthomonas oryzae and Zoogloea ramigera have shown physico-chemically novel functions such as solubilizer, chiral selector, catalyst, and morphology-directing agent. To investigate these functions, the microbial carbohydrates were purified with some column chromatographies and the purities of the saccharides were checked with nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and/or Infrared (IR) spectroscopy. Cyclic oligosaccharides produced by R. meliloti, cyclic -1,2-glucans (cyclosophoraoses), acted as a solubility enhancer for poorly soluble molecules, a chiral solvating agent for many enantiomers in NMR and capillary electrophoresis (CE), and a morphology-directing agent for the synthesis of Se nanowires in water. □-Cyclosophorohexadecaose (□-C16) produced by X. oryzae and Rhizobial succinoglycan octasaccharides having acetyl, pyruvyl, and/or succinyl groups as substituents, acted as catalysts for the multicomponent Strecker reaction using trimethylsilylcyanide (TMSCN) in the mixture solutions of methanol and water. Also, Rhizobial cyclosophoraose and an extracellular polysaccharide produced by Z. ramigera, zooglan, acted as catalysts for the methanolysis of oxazolone compounds and phospholipids. These functions could be due to complexing capacities or strong hydrogen bonding abilities of the microbial carbohydrates.

        리더-구성원 교환관계가 직무만족에 미치는 영향과 성과지향 문화, 관계지향 문화의 조절효과

        Leader-member exchange (LMX) is closely related to the motivation of the members. This study explains the effect of the LMX on the job satisfaction, which is connected to motivation. Moreover, we demonstrate the moderating effect of performance-oriented culture and relation-oriented culture in the relationship between LMX and job satisfaction. If the quality of the LMX is high, the members become more satisfied with the job. However, depending on the specific organizational culture, there will be differences in the influence or role of the LMX. Through the effect of organizational culture we explain the situations in which the LMX is more important, its influence is not important, or the LMX is unnecessary. The purpose of this study is to explain whether the organization should focus more on efforts to improve the quality of LMXs, or on factors other than LMX, depending on the culture characteristics of the organization. 리더-구성원 교환관계는 구성원의 동기부여와 밀접한 관련성이 있다. 동기부여는 자신의 욕구를 만족시키고자 조직의 목표를 위해 자발적으로 임하는 심리상태로 설명된다. 이 연구는 리더-구성원 교환관계가 동기부여와 관련하여 구성원의 직무만족에 미치는 영향을 설명한다. 그리고 리더-구성원 교환관계와 직무만족의 관계에 있어서 성과지향 문화와 관계지향 문화의 조절효과를 입증한다. 리더-구성원 교환관계의 질이 높으면 구성원은 보다 직무에 만족하게 된다. 하지만 특정 조직문화에 따라 리더-구성원 교환관계가 지니는 영향력이나 역할에는 차이가 있을 것이다. 이 연구는 리더-구성원 관계가 보다 중요하거나 그 영향력이 크게 중요하지 않은, 혹은 리더-구성원 교환관계가 불필요한 상황을 조직문화를 통해 설명한다. 그래서 조직이 지니고 있는 문화의 특성에 따라서 리더-구성원 교환관계의 질일 향상시키기 위해 보다 노력을 해야 하는지, 혹은 리더-구성원 교환관계가 아닌 다른 요소들에 초점을 두어야 하는지를 설명하는데 이 연구의 목적과 의의를 둔다.

      • 소셜 게임에서 경쟁과 협력이 사용자간의 친밀감에 미치는 영향

        본 연구는 Social Network Game (SNG)에서의 경쟁과 협력이라는 상반되는 사용자들의 상호작용이 게임에 대한 몰입과 참여자간의 친밀감을 형성에 영향을 주는지를 사회적 동기 이론 (Social Motivation Theory)과 사회적 비교 이론 (Social Comparison Theory)을 통해 살펴보았다. SNG 는 혼자가 아닌 SNS 라는 사회적 관계망 안에서 다양한 사람들이 함께 즐기는 게임 형태이다. 따라서 SNG 의 경험을 살펴보기 위해서는 사용자와 게임 시스템간의 상호작용을 뿐만 아니라, 게임 참여자간의 상호작용에 대한 연구가 필요하지만, 기존 SNG 연구들에선 이에 대한 연구가 부족한 상황이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 협력과 경쟁이라는 상반된 상호작용이 게임의 몰입감에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 이러한 SNG 에서의 몰입감은 SNG 참여자들 사이의 친밀감 향상에 영향을 미치는지를 설문을 통해 검증하였다. 결과적으로, 랭킹 비교 등을 통한 경쟁과 서로 게임 자원 공유를 통한 협력은 게임 몰입감에 긍정적으로 영향을 미치는 것을 확인할 수 있었으며, 이러한 SNG 에의 몰입감은 SNS 상의 참여자들 간에 친밀감을 높이는 데도 긍정적인 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었다. This study hypothesis competition and collaboration in SNG ( Social Network Game) have a effect on users’ flow to a game, which lead to intimacy among SNG users, based on the social motivation theory and social comparison theory. Users play SNGs with their friends of SNS (Social Network Service). Therefore, the interactions among SNG users should be considered not only the interaction of users and game system. Hypothesis was tested through survey of SNG users. In sum, we confirmed that competition through comparing scores each other and collaboration through the exchanging game resources have positive impact on users" game flow, and that this flow strengthen the intimacy among SNG users in their social network.

        Cancer signature ensemble integrating cfDNA methylation, copy number, and fragmentation facilitates multi-cancer early detection

        Cell-free DNA (cfDNA) sequencing has demonstrated great potential for early cancer detection. However, most large-scale studies have focused only on either targeted methylation sites or whole-genome sequencing, limiting comprehensive analysis that integrates both epigenetic and genetic signatures. In this study, we present a platform that enables simultaneous analysis of whole-genome methylation, copy number, and fragmentomic patterns of cfDNA in a single assay. Using a total of 950 plasma (361 healthy and 589 cancer) and 240 tissue samples, we demonstrate that a multifeature cancer signature ensemble (CSE) classifier integrating all features outperforms single-feature classifiers. At 95.2% specificity, the cancer detection sensitivity with methylation, copy number, and fragmentomic models was 77.2%, 61.4%, and 60.5%, respectively, but sensitivity was significantly increased to 88.9% with the CSE classifier (p value < 0.0001). For tissue of origin, the CSE classifier enhanced the accuracy beyond the methylation classifier, from 74.3% to 76.4%. Overall, this work proves the utility of a signature ensemble integrating epigenetic and genetic information for accurate cancer detection.

        Identification of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms as Biomarkers for Recurrent Pregnancy Loss in Korean Women

        Background: Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are reportedly associated with repeated abortion. Thus, genetic analysis based on race is the key to developing accurate diagnostic tests. This study analyzed the genetic polymorphisms of recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) patients among Korean women compared to the controls. Methods: In 53 women of RPL group and 50 controls, the genetic analysis was performed. The genotype distribution and allele frequency were analyzed statistically for the difference between the two groups. The association between each SNP marker and RPL risk was analyzed. Results: The genotypes of LEPR, endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), KDR, miR27a, miR-449b, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) were analyzed using odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Only the AG genotype of miR-449b (A>G) polymorphism showed significant association with the risk of RPL when compared to the AA genotype (OR, 2.39). The combination of GG/AG+GG/CA+AA genotypes for eNOS/ miR-449b/TNF-α was associated with 7.36-fold higher risk of RPL (OR, 7.36). The GG/ AG+GG combination for eNOS/miR-449b showed 2.43-fold higher risk for RPL (OR, 2.43). The combination of AG+GG/CA+AA genotypes for miR-449b/TNF-α showed a significant association with the risk of RPL (OR, 7.60). From the haplotype-based analysis, the G-G-A haplotype of eNOS/miR-449b/TNF-α and the G-A haplotype of miR-449b/TNF-α were associated with increased risk of RPL (OR, 19.31; OR, 22.08, respectively). Conclusion: There is a significant association between the risk of RPL and miR-449b/TNF-α combination, and therefore, genetic analysis for specific combined genotypes can be an important screening method for RPL in Korean women.

        Surface Modified Glass-Fiber Effect on the Mechanical Properties of Glass-Fiber Reinforced Polypropylene Composites

        To improve the mechanical properties of glass-fiber-reinforced polypropylene (PP) composites through interfacial adhesion control between the PP matrix and glass fiber, the surface of the glass fiber was modified with PP-graft-maleic anhydride (MAPP). Surface modification of the glass fiber was carried out through the well-known hydrolysis-condensation reaction using 3-aminopropyltriethoxy silane, and then subsequently treated with MAPP to produce the desired MAPP-anchored glass fiber (MAPP-a-GF). The glass-fiber-reinforced PP composites were prepared by typical melt-mixing technique. The effect of chemical modification of the glass fiber surface on the mechanical properties of composites was investigated. The resulting mechanical and morphological properties showed improved interfacial adhesion between the MAPP-a-GF and PP matrix in the composites.

        지역별 쌀 생산량의 공간적 종속성을 위한 최적 코풀라함수

        태풍, 가뭄, 홍수 같은 큰 규모 자연재해는 많은 지역에 영향을 미치므로 지역별 공간적 상관성이 존재한다. 한반도의 쌀 생산량의 공간적 의존성은 t코풀라함수를 통해 연구가 수행되었지만, 최적 코풀라함수의 선정에 관한 연구는 아직 수행되지 않았다. 이 연구의 목적은 한반도 8 개도에서 생산되는 쌀 생산량의 공간적 종속성을 코풀라함수를 통해 살펴보고자 한다. 연구자료는 1965년부터 2018년 사이에 수집된 지역별 쌀 생산량이다. 쌀 생산량은 연도에 따라 추세성을 보이고 있어 조각별 회귀모형에 의해 추세성이 제거되었다. 추세성이 제거된 잔차의 주변부 확률분포의 모수는 최대우도 방법에 의해 추정되었다. 코풀라함수를 위해 각 주변부 확률분포는 분위수를 통한 역변환 방법을 통해 균등분포를 따르는 의사자료로 가공되었다. 타원형 코풀라족, 나선형 코풀라족, 극단 코풀라족이 최적 코풀라함수로 고려되었다. 붓스트랩 기반의 Cramer-von Misés 검정과 교차검증을 통해 최적의 코풀라함수를 선정하였다. 대부분의 지역 간 공간적 종속성은 t코풀라함수로 설명되지만, 지역에 따라 극단치 코풀라족 (Gumbel, HuslerReiss) 이 최적 코풀라함수로 선정되었다. The purpose is to estimate the spatial dependence of rice production yield among eight provinces in South Korea. Because the large scale of the disaster, such as typhoon, drought, and flood, can affect many rice yields. The optimal copula function for a spatial dependence of rice yields in Korean peninsula has not been studied. The yearly rice production data was collected between 1965 and 2018 by Statistics Korea. The trend of rice production has been eliminated by a piecewise linear model. The marginal distribution of residuals were estimated by maximum likelihood estimation. A pseudo data was generated by inverse transformation method for Elliptical copula, archimedean copula, and extreme copula family. The parametric bootstrap goodness of fit test and cross-validation were performed to find the best copula. As a result, we found that rice production in most provinces has a strong correlation with each other. Most of the spatial dependences between regions are explained by the t-copula function, but according to the region, the extreme copula (Gumbel, HuslerReiss) were selected as the best copula function.
